At my school I have those 2 classmate who hates it and calls it a baby show it's Kosi and Sam disrespecting this anime show.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the writing in the English dub. All the actors sound fine too. The problem is just with the score and pacing of this scene. The Japanese version really let scenes sit and play out so you’d understand Astro’s feelings a little more. The score is also more haunting and melancholic to highlight Astro’s reluctance as well as the destruction Atlas is causing. There’s nothing horrifically wrong with the English dub’s pacing, but I certainly prefer the slower, more intense Japanese version of this scene.

I'm glad i grew up watching dub, a language i can effing understand. People dissing the dub wouldn't even give this a try when they were children if it was only available in sub

not sure why but for me the Japanese version just doesn't sit right, I guess that's what i get for watching pretty much all the episodes (well some of them) in the english dub and know those more by heart, at least the ending in Japanese is better

As much as I love the dub for: A. The music B. The acting (both bad and good) The Japanese has the win here :3 A. Acting B. Musical nod to -Astro's- Atoms first anime, to show his beginning in this show, multiplying the meaning IOOO fold C. Atlas doesn't sound constipated when attacking or powering up. D. It's japanese man. Its anime. E. My favorite letter F. Not the grade I'd give it G. For good H. Heck this is awesome I. I can't come up with anything else ^^' J. Jokes on me, seeya next time ^^'

In the Japanese version, Astro calls out "Father". In the English dub, he says "My creator". I think I know which one is better than the other.

At first I felt cheated that all this time I've been watching a inferior dub just because they cut out heps of stuff from the original but hey man I grew up with this version and the voice acting for the most part is pretty good in my opinion so it's good enough for me too :) also the cheesy voice acting ads charm to it

I’m still obssessed with this story since I was 8, So I can say King Dedede was good this whole time, however I wonder about Jigglypuff and the other two that isn’t part of the main story how are they connected and does Tabuu’s existence and defeat lead to the world of light?

It's not even remotely a competition. The Japanese soundtrack alone makes the scene 100x more impactful. How could they not use the music box version of the original theme for the Tobio flashbacks in the dub?! That was an amazing touch, but in the dub they just keep the same droning track over it with no change! They just put that same techno drum shit over the fight with zero emotion over the whole scene instead of the dramatic score used in the original. The music stopping when he fires in the Japanese one makes it so much more dramatic too. The dub voices make such bizarre grunts and noises, and they found a way to pick literally the most annoying voice for Atom possible. He doesn't sound like a 9 year old boy, he sounds like my old English teacher chastising me for disrupting the class. Both the dubs Atom and Atlas can't scream with feeling at all so that's completely ruined. Atlas' Japanese voice actor is legit going insane in the booth, the dude is laughing maniacally and screaming like a madman, I love it. So yeah, dub complete stink all around, such a shit effort. Actors sound like they don't even care, that or they had terrible direction. No wonder this did shit ratings wise in the west.

It is no exaggeration to say that the American dubbing, distribution, and marketing of Astro Boy is among the greatest tragedies of my childhood. I did not watch even a single episode at the time. Almost 20 years later, and we still can’t watch this series the way it was meant to be watched! Tezuka Productions needs to fire their international PR team.

just gonna list down my general thoughts after watching this: honestly, Atlas' English dub was ... surprisingly not that bad, it's not the best sure but compared to Atom it's definitely WAY better music was handled a lot better in the original in the dub felt like they went a bit too hard in some lines and didn't go hard enough on the others scripting for the dub felt off sometimes also why the weird cut in the dub?

The English dub isn’t bad honestly. I think there is some bad direction and for some reason, the soundtrack is also replaced, which always annoys me with this early 2000s dubs. I guess they just don’t have the rights to the music?
