Am I the only one noticing that the staff is helping clean so much for the Jap players, but not for the others. Or is is just cuz they prefer more clean and others don't so they arnt asking for more help???
Love Alex commentary. This final problem wasn't appropriate, the potential for significant injury on that one is ridiculous.
Just noticed Alex has a hole in his shorts in perhaps the most awkward place possible
eww toby shouldntve won bleh
Noice🎉
Look at how he climb. No time to think just grab what he sees
Nice idea with the heart monitors! Definitely adds a bit of fun even to chess simply to have that info
I loved how Alex was just saying whatever came to his head
I honestly feel bad for the other competitors when Janja is climbing. If it were me I'd be thinking _I hope she doesn't show up_ and I love Janja. Playing a sport where one athlete is just on another plain has to be frustrating for everyone else and frustrating in the way that you'd be mad at yourself for not training harder to match her skills. Or she's just a force of nature and no one will ever really compete on her level.
Wow I thought I was hearing Alex's voice there, that's awesome! He is the perfect commentator for this, super laid back and entertaining, it works so well.
Alex's foreshadowing is subtle but effective
He makes that first move look quite hard and makes the second move look like v3
I love how climbing is so inclusive and these athletes get so much screen time as well. This is not self-evident in other sports! It must be so tough to set a fair lead route for paraclimbers with all the different strengths and weaknesses. I wonder if we could see a routesetter take on this competition?

"This looks fucking dangerous" - Alex Honnold
❤️👌🏻
I can’t overstate how much I enjoyed listening to Alex Honnold in the comments booth. He was original, funny and so authentic ! I look forward to seeing him in the Olympics.
the best

Some of the closeups were a bit too close
Finally got around to watching this. Watching Janja on W4 was weirdly entertaining. She kept successfully doing hilariously brawny things while apparently just not quite making up her mind which method to use to get up to the zone. Like, her indecisive *thinking about it* activities seem like they would have been totally beyond a majority of the other semi-finalist. If she had just picked one of the things she was thinking about, it probably would have worked? I think? Sometimes Janja just glitches. Presumably everyone has moments like that but it's funny when such a capable climber visibly thinks so hard, *on the wall*, while holding not much of anything, about such a move.
❤🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨❤
Completely strange to see Matt. I've always assumed he was just some ethereal voice, only manifesting in this world to commentate world cups
I’m so happy to have finally found this video! Congrats Sho Aita🎉🎉🎉 あいたさんおめでとうございます🎉 We were plane buddies flying from Tokyo to Dallas. He is the one that introduced me to this amazing sport. I hope it finally becomes an Olympic event some day.

“Maybe she’s piquing!” No that’s just how she climbs :))
The legend
Jesus can we see the climbing. Save the close ups for replays. Missing crucial moves to see a hand position is so frustrating.
As Shauna said, some climbs are harder for shorter climbers, thats just the way of rock climbing and some things are harder for taller climbers. But I don't remember ever seeing a crux that was specifically more difficult for climbers in the womens comps. I've seen movements that are seriously awkward for very tall climbers in the mens division, but not the womens. While I think Ai does need to get better at jumps and work on her leg strength, I think we also need to see more climbs in boulder comps that the taller climbers will find more difficult and the shorter climbers will find it easy. The fact some climbs are harder for taller climbers is meaningless if it isn't included in the competition on a specific boulder. They could have gotten rid of boulder 1 and created an awkward as f*ck boulder that is harder for tall climbers. Would have been a much better competition.
Man Manu and Mathieu came with the stellar entertainment & performance.
Shauna is such a great commentator
It was madness to combine all three at the Tokyo Olympics and is a relief they’ve at least split out speed, but I really hope that by the 2028 Olympics we’ll have three medals for the three disciplines.
Why was Brooke climbing W1 in the dark???
I don’t mind the different point system but I feel for the athletes with the reduced recovery time forced by having two competitors climbing at the same time.
Hey, you killed Alex!!! 😬
I barely feel my fingers the next day after rock climbing and you're these guys did it with no problem
getting to see so many solutions on a problem is awesome, so much better than the dog water 2nd problem that they created.
Am i correct in thinking she's undefeated at Salt Lake City?
Alex is so fun to listen to.
1:59:26 ai
56:34 "I never think height is an advantage" bro what about Ai Mori not being able to reach the start of a boulder 😭
1:43:53 Sorato is team socks! Great commentating this comp, mens & womens.
Brilliant method on M2 for Collin!
So cool to have an Aussie on the wall.
A moment of appreciation for whoever designed the score graphic convention of showing the standings with a series of vertical bars representing progress up each challenge. That translucent overlay was perhaps the best I've seen in sports history. Good graphic design should always feel this obvious and natural, after-the-fact of its implementation. Like with climbing, though, you don't see most of the effort, and it's easy to miss the top.
So cool to see 6 different betas for M3, all working
Alex is such a funny commentator. He's just says everything that goes threw his mind 🤣
Doing all that with a bum knee is insane
