    I don't know about boats or yachts. But I have used cetol products many times. Windows and doors sikkens these are good products listen very simple to use if you have done any brushwork at all any stain work and if you're a painter you should have no problem at all.

    The can says to wipe the bare wood with Interlux thinner 216 , why doesn't he advise that? Do I have to do that step?

    New product...was this show in the 70s? Love Sikkens Cetol. Not for everyone...such as those with and old Lyman or Chris Craft but for the rest of us...it's quick, easy to work with and looks good. Recoat with a light sand every couple of years. Not sure about this guy though!

    Always brush towards the previous application to maintain a wet edge.

    How long does this last before you have to redo it again? I mean sand it down and redo entire job again.

      If you keep adding a layer of clear gloss every year, it can be maintained perpetually.

      @UguysRnuts Před 7 lety

      Nothing. That's one of the advantages of Cettol. Use two or three coats of the tinted 'Cettol teak' to achieve the colour you want and then switch to the gloss for another two or three coats. Next year just a very light sanding and then a coat or two of gloss only. That way the colour stays the same.

      @@UguysRnuts I use cetol on my companionway steps, my grab rails, this guy doesn't need 7 coats. My steps have 2 coats cetol, one coat Helmsman Gloss Varnish and then another coat of Helmsman with non-skid mixed in. They are beautiful. My grab rails and other I only put three coats on. No varnish. I just did that on my steps because of the wear.
