for over 40 years this 1970 340 duster has been modified by my father steve clukey. i want everyone to see what he has worked so hard on for most of his life making what it is today. i will update what is going on throughout the year with the car, i will add lots of gopro hero 2 videos from all over the car, inside, outside and under, results, what's new, where he will be racing in the weeks to come. this year the motor had a bit of a makeover. instead of one holley dominator 1050 carb there are two on top of a brand new CFE sheetmetal intake, a parachute was added, the spare tire well was cut out and replaced with a flat sheetmetal floor and a smaller aluminum fuel cell. hoping for more 8 second passes this year. hope to see you all out at the races this year, we will be at sanair and napierville canada, newengland dragway in newhampshire, possibly a few 1/8 mile tracks in maine (winterport and oxford) and maybe even lebanon valley new york and atco new jersey.

I wish you’d posted the Dyno results. I had a stock 70 Duster 340 4-speed. Loved that car.
It ended up being 920 hp I believe 706 lbs of torque

I love watching this car run when I'm up at New England Dragway. A couple of questions about the lenco. Would they survive well in street use, especially in traffic. Also since they use separate cases for each gear, could one in theory add an additional case backwards to use as a 5 speed overdrive?
The transmission is actually an ST1200 which is a STREET/ strip transmission. I’d say it would be great. the way the transmission works is for each case is a gear so yes you can just add a case and a shifter up to 6 speeds. They can help you with gear ratios at lenco.
You wouldn't have to use any one case or section "backwards". You can get each section with whatever gear ratio that you want. Want something less than 1:1? Just get the last one geared like that

Just simply a great job especially for a sportsman guy !!! What mopar transmission has 4 speed lanco style setup like that ??? Not familiar with that !!! Specify please if you would ???

Back in the '70s I always wanted a Linco 5 speed but held off back then they were five grand and before that I was always thought why don't they make a stick with an automatic then found out they did the Linco I was running my 56 Chevy Gasser some might have heard of it Helter Skelter Southern California

U r from Maine if I am correct. I am positive I have seen you run there in like 2013??? I live in New Brunswick and run a 63 dart with a 413 ss and a 73 dart sport with a 340. I'm just curious if you were the cat on the wheelie bars back then?? Just found this in the rabbit hole and subscribed.

Is that shifter street legal? Always liked them. Thought you couldn't down shift with that shifter. Looks like the Lenco could be down shifted? I have a vertical Hurst 4 speed, with separate shifter for reverse, M-22, in my 61 vette. Heard it's illegal, because of not being on one shifter. Had it on for 45 years. Never any problem.

Yeah the guys at Lenco told dad you have to do it like that or it can hurt the transmission
Just start the burnout in high gear, and don't shift at all.... that's what I do. Easiest on equipment that way.

You can’t call that a four speed with that shifter give him a real h pattern then it’s real shifting it’s like the Ram rod shifter do it like Ronnie Sox then your shifting a four speed

Sound of music...I have a 69 swinger 340 topped with w2s...roller.. street car...runs low 11s...All steel and interior... .mufflers ..street slicks..I'd like to know from your experience with small blocks.. .how much can a 340 take .. in HP....I'd like to go into 9s....if possible....I dont see any turbos or pro chargers on these little suckers....beautiful car you guys have
One of the Ritter racing smallblocks like we have I’ve seen handle 1616 at the rear wheel. So I’d guess at least 1800 at the crank. This is my dads engine. If you are talking about a stock 340 block I’m not real sure about that

Fill block with Hard Block increase bore and stroke, then lighten the car up about 300#s Less. Maybe if you found an R-3 Block and you really have the $ and, ed heads cheapest heads would be vic jr
