I bought a kidde smoke/monoxide alarm that was supposed to last 10 years. It didn't last 3 years. Out of 93 reviews for the Worry-Free Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Sealed Lithium Battery 83 of those are ONE star. All have same complaint. It doesn't last even half of what they claim. Is First Alert any better?

I purchased this model a few weeks ago from Costco and now one of the alarms is chirping every approx 45 seconds. It's supposed to have a 10 year battery. Can anyone tell me how to stop the chirping until I get a new alarm? Presume the chirping means that the alarm has reached the end of it's life and needs to be replaced (in 2 months)!!

I saw a similar product....they said you must first turn off the fuel source.... For example turn off the stove burner. I'm wondering if this is essential for this product too? And "why?" ... Is it to eliminate the fuel? Or to prevent a reaction? What if you can't reach across what's burning to turn the burner off?

Model 2087DF - This safe would not open right out of the box! Unbelieveable! I followed the instructions to open using the handle for the initial time. I was pulling with everything I had, I am a strong dude! I sat on top of it to keep it from moving. Nothing. I called First Alert customer service and the woman told me that "the suction is really something to overcome on the first initial open". I was then instructed to use a screwdriver or crowbar (really!?) in which the crowbar wouldn't fit, flathead screwdriver ended up damaging the door and still wouldn't open. I am absolutely flabbergasted.... First Alert has completely failed. Will never be purchasing another product. The return to Costco should be fun as it weighs over 100lbs!

The opening is not intuitive. You just need to apply strength. There is no lock or button or anything. Just push hard enough and the door will pop open.
