Roadworthy PORSCHE for under $1000?? (Engine Removal)
So I've decided I'm going to try and make my old abandoned Porsche 924 roadworthy for under 1000 bucks, and, of course, to start that journey, it needs a reliable engine. I found one for $200 that supposedly runs. Let's find out. $300 for the car, $200 for the engine leaves me $500 to play with. Let's make it happen!!!

Drop her in drive and let her eat!!
That’s a nice old truck! You’ll master the art of shifting it slower and listening to the engine for RPMs after driving it a while. And be sure when downshifting to double clutch it and speed the engine up before you go to the lower gear to get the rotating masses at the same RPM so you don’t pluck the teeth off of the gears !
Not the best oil in the world !!!she'll. #
Crap that aint good
Rod knock.
Everything knock. Lol I believe the previous owner overheated the hell out of.
Knock on wood mines still good
Got rid of those a long time ago lol😂
Hate wen people put the tire letters on the inside 🇺🇲
Me too
Nice truck , my c10 have the same engine gm 261
All it needs now is a CAT 3126 swap with a stack and it'll be a real monster.
@MatthewSmith-to1hz hmmmm. You can pick them motors up fairly cheap lol
Good video, but did you leave old greasy brake shoes there?
Thanks!! Sure did. They looked dang near like new.
Man! Great Job on all these Videos! I bought a Chevy '52 - 6500 down here in Texas recently and your videos have been a great help. Looking forward to more.
@jmwcurrey thank you and you're welcome!! Good luck. They're fun old trucks to work on. I use the heck out of mine!
like this channel so far, entertaining
Thank you!
Keep em coming. That was kinda fun
Nice l got one in cuba ❤😊
The spings on my truck for brake and clutch pedal had been removed and I dont know how they go. Do you think you can take a video of how the links and springs go for the pedals??
Just made a video today with the truck. I included a part pointing out the spring locations and there for ya and hope to have it uploaded this week. Ill comment on here the time in the video so you can go directly to it. Both springs hook to separate brackets on the frame toward the front of the truck and the clutch spring hooks to the linkage outside of the bell housing and the brake spring hooks to the clevis on the master cylinder.
Hey, I just posted a video with the 52. 12:20 mark I pointed out those springs for you. Hope it helps!!
Gotta love some old tractors
I don’t like cubs rather have an A
Knock sensors. Anything else to change under the intake manifold area while the manifold is off?
Nope!!. Just the sensors
I just did mine yesterday.
I'm not one of the Historians (although I've been part of the last few semi work days...) but I can't tell of that's Buy Out or A Plush Ride
Where's your jack stand? NEVER trust a hydraulic jack!!!!
I just bought myself a 1967 impala fastback rolling chassis to work on, and i see you also own an old red 2000'S Avalanche. I see you are a man of class haha!
I have to try this one out. I just got the hybrid solutions ceramic spray and I'm really happy with it. I recommend that one as well to add another layer of protection to your truck 👍
We had a 46 or 47 we ran daily up until 1998 I think.
Bs
These clowns. Hilarious.
What size rear tires are you running?
8.25 - 20
I noticed youre in Wisconsin. So am I. Do you still have the truck? I just picked up a 2 ton in the same color.
Yes sir. Still have it
@@smokengearsgarage nice. I lowered mine and in the process of dropping a LS in it.
I pray this day doesn't come 297k on the odometer and still rollin
Even if it does, just send it, lol. I'm too fussy.
I've been working on a 1948 Loadmaster 1 1/2 ton truck and I could find everything for the rear brakes except the rear main seals. Where were you able to find those?
I believe I was able to get a number off of the ones I removed, and the parts store was able to cross them over to a new part number. That store is no longer in business. I could try and look back in my files and try to find a part number.
@@smokengearsgarage If you could that would be great but if you can't no worries
Lazy. They make sledgehammers for a reason.
Need that green bug deflector👍
Bro if it kicks you would have a second elbow
lol
nice truck - enjoyed the video and music
Nice
Stupid knock sensor 😂 hell yeah if you know you know lol
Sounds pretty healthy considering its age
Ive ignored all my check engine warnings for 21 years 👍
When they go out on their own is when you have to worrie. Lll
Its just a tornado. The trip is worth it.
Glad to see another 1947-1953 Chevy truck saved. I'm thinking 129k miles by the looks of the condition of the truck.
I definitely wouldn’t go that high with it being a farm truck
I’ve got the same 5.3, could this be the cause of my check engine light coming on for a little while then shutting off for a couple weeks, on again, off again, Rinse and repeat?
Very well could be. Have it scanned. My check engine light came on and stayed on.
@@smokengearsgarage I’ll have to do that once I get my scanner port fixed.
Please what is this song
The dreaded knock sensors
What is this
Oh its the 6.0 also
Take the bed cover off 🤮
In case anyone needs to know… Bad motor mounts will cause a knock therefore cause a knock sensor check engine code.
Buying a low mileage 2015 Chevy 1500 5.3....... what am I watching? I dont know......yet.......
