Heather Locklear never belonged in the show. She was not likable, not a decent person/character. Even Stuart was likable in a twisted way. They were all real actors, she was a Hollywood star, mostly famous for a sex tape.
Back in the 70's there was a carpet salesman names Phil who appeared in his own commercials waving his hands around while describing carpets. One evening me and my family were watching SCTV and this came on! We couldn't believe it and were laughing hysterically!
LOL! I used to make commercials like this! I didn't plan them or write them, but i had to shoot them and edit them. Don't let salespeople write commercial copy.
Hahahaha i used to live on Danforth Ave. Right near this fictitious address. Just down the street from the LCBO AND Beer Store that an earlier commenter mentioned. And that was YEARS after i first saw this sketch as a teenager and laughed my ass off. Because i was familiar with the Phil Givner carpet ads. Eugene Levy parodied him to PERFECTION. If u haven’t already seen Eugene and Rick Moranis play these two orthodox jewish guys in these “Crazy Hy’s”ads, do yourself a favour and please do. Hy and Zel’s was a popular small chain of Pharmacies in the Toronto area at one point. Before Shoppers Drug Mart ruled the world.
That's false advertising! He said big discounts and has signs for 30% off but then is only giving a 5% discount on those finishing nails. What a rip off.
The degree to which Eugene "nailed" ( ahem ) Phil Givner's annoying, low budget, carpet ads from Toronto, was astounding. I mean, if you have no idea who he's parodying, this is still funny, but if you were around at the time - and you saw this - you wet your pants.
Phil was only in 2 episodes, I believe, on SCTV. The timing and the goofiness is dead on and hilarious. If you really want to laugh HARD, check out Phil's "Do It Yourself Advertising"!

"other nails just crumple and curl and become play things for ghetto kids..." lol

Richard Kind is hilarious. Great character. MJF is the best. Teen Wolf
I guess Phil really nailed it good!!!🤣
Play things for ghetto kids...Eugene said that
Best nail salesman in history 👍 If I saw a commercial like this in 2023 I don’t care what they are selling I’m buying it.
Stuart & Paul were great in this😂
I thought it was just okay (by SCTV standards) until the end. Then I laughed out loud. ☮
Still better than just about anything SNL ever feebly attempted.
I wish I could do my own commercials as well as he does his.
Lol just think of all the stuart jokes aimed at the current pc culture
Watch out, it's a sharp attack!
"She walks pretty well for a woman with your head up her butt!"
Richard Kind is a treasure.
Yes

Stuart (Stewart?) is so evil! Don't you just love him? How long would he survive in this time of me too?
He wouldnt. And Comedy as a whole didnt. Shame
When the worm (Paul) turns he turns with a vengeance! This scene is so over the top it's scary. "....if you were dead”! OMG!
Heather Locklear is awesome gorgeous.
I'll admit she makes a good villain.
He nailed it

Richard Kind did good in Spin City.

I need roofing nails so this is perfect! I can stop by Crazy Hy's on the way home to pick up a 19" TV for $19!
Don't forget to pick up a couple of Portapaks at Crazy Hy's 📹📼.
That growl at the end XD
Paul made this show xD
56 cents a pound for 2 inch finishing nails??? Phil really is putting nails in his coffin with this sale!
Nobody talks to Heather Locklear like that 'cept Richard Kind! GOD this show is amazing!
classic HAHAHAHA
putting that address into Google Maps returns a Beer Store across the street from an LCBO. Rad!
One of my favs of SCTV......even have the moves down! ;p
I'm glad I had KUPD on that morning. This made my day.
Like this comment if you were listening to Holmberg's Morning Sickness this morning.
which episode is this?
I've donwloaded all 6 seasons, every episode was worth watching !!
This is one of my favorites. Eugene Levy is an underrated genius.
He's not underrated...wyf mate. Everyone that matters knows him.😅
@Screenman5 That'd be Al Peck's Used Fruit. LOL

@Absynthe310 would it be pathetic to say you hit the "nail" on the head?
I've been watching SCTV skits for about an hour now, and this one made me laugh the hardest. Eugene Levy is a comic genius.
