Benediction for the end of a day. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit the National Cathedral in DC to attend Evensong. What a beautiful and peaceful way to close out a day. How i wish to play this wonderful instrument. If only i could find out where to buy one. How mnay octaves does it/ the range? Hiw is it different from a santoor?
I'm glad you enjoy it! This instrument has a 5 octave range. It differs quite a bit from santoor in the tuning scheme as well as in construction of the instrument and the range. You can learn more about these instruments at masterworksok.com

Stephen, in this video, are you playing a Russell Cook Edition with extended range or is that a Dulciforte?
Michael, this is a Russell Cook Edition with an extended left side bass bridge. For such a compact instrument it really has a big sound, especially when recorded. I do have a DulciForte as well now, and they are definitely different instruments sonically, but I love them both!

The instrument is called a hammered dulcimer. This particular one is the DulciForte model by Masterworks dulcimers. They make incredible instruments! If you have any questions about hammered dulcimers or if you are interested in getting one just let me know!

Stephen, your playing is such a blessing to listen to. I am a life-long professional musician (mainly bluegrass, country, swing & jazz fiddle... and about 10 other instruments) and so greatly appreciate the "less is more" approach to music. As talented as those like Joshua Messick are on the HD, your style surpasses his by virtue of your simplicity and elegance in the delivery of your music. There is a humility that somehow clearly rings through your playing, and I appreciate that so much. Thank you so much for sharing this and all of your beautiful music.
