I think it is still open to interpretation. You hear Cooper screaming when all the ice rocks are hitting his ship and he’s entering the black hole, but then he comes out of a brief nap alive and well all over again when he enters the tesseract.

Understanding this movie can be difficult. No doubt it has multiple meanings and takes on it. I was disappointed by the ending. Not with anything about murph being older…but about murph telling dad to just leave an explore bc she had her children. The quickest reunion ever. And imo Murph was the movie centerpiece. So when he just leaves in an instant…it was like complete “what the hell?” of trying to talk to my tv. Any alternatives ending is better than what the chose.

Cool. This would take out the only true "Edge of my seat" moment I've ever had in my life. But tbh it would have been an appropriate time technically and artistically to end it. And honestly the ending we got leaves this as an option of "truth." Minus the unfitting soundtrack. But I don't disagree that this is one acceptably true ending to film. They say during death your brain lights up like a Christmas Tree... neurons firing. That's where memories are stored. "Do you have children Cooper?" He asked that because of the understanding of memories in death. The man (Noan) is obsessed with time and death. The clocks in the soundtracks. Imagine dying for the art. Imagine dying the hero, or living long enough to become the villain. Imagine dying in your sleep, dreaming of loved ones... Imagine dying to save the world, or your country first.... imagine being death incarnate- destoyer of worlds... Or having that experience spread paper thin across millions of miles in a vacuum of I comprehensible dimensions. Every movie has been the same, from a different pop culture/post-modern perspective.

This ending is simply all show and glitz and no substance. Doesn’t link back to the plot or themes at all, and relies on obvious music and images to spoon feed emotions. Sorry, it’s school level stuff. Leave the adult stuff to Nolan.

My girlfriend and I always disliked that Cooper never cared about his son, he was only interested in Murph.

Glad this isn’t the ending. Real ending is amazing.

This isn’t at all how it should have ended. It totally disregarded the premise of the gravity communication tool made by the more advanced future civilization. Cooper had to fulfill the past once he had the ability to cross into the higher dimension. Then he had to do the things he had been shown to do earlier. The movie wasn’t just about his feelings for Murph. My only complaint was that he should have spent longer with Murph and the rest of his family he now had a unbelievable opportunity to meet. Secondly, he should have been essentially paused in earth time once he crossed the event horizon making coming back impossible. Once arriving at the communication tool he could have communicated with the distant past but just not the close past as shown in the movie. Lastly, if they were going to overlook the difference in his time and Dr Brands they should have shown the reunion on the new planet.

Good thing this was 2014.. few things though, know the soul of this music. I dont care if the singer goes off key, he messed-up btw..the intro is the main Soul of this music and the frontman just f@#k'n blew it! drummer kinda off the tempo but the band performs well considering this was their high school days. They did great, no doubt! I really hope they're still playing as a band.

This is a cool fan made ending but there are a ton of unanswered questions. Not to say you could not end a movie like this and let the audience decide. But! The way Nolan directed the final 20 or so minutes wrapped up the ending beautifully, all questions answered. There is no possible way it could’ve been better in my opinion! Edit: I’m watching this again and the clips used didn’t fit well. For example, “I’m coming back”… we never would have found out if he did.

I like it, don't love it, but I still think it would not work. I think that leaving after the bookshelf is a good idea instead of showing him with his daughter when she is older (although those scenes are pretty good), so there can be some tension as to what was gonna happen next, after he left the black hole. Plus, even if it did end the way this video shows it, it just wouldn't work because although it is sad, the music that is used is such a contrast from the music used throughout the entirety of the movie, and the tone would clash completely to an extent that the scene would be ruined. That's my take on it.

The original ending explained that the whole movie was the dream he woke from in the beginning, when murph asked if he was dreaming about the crash again. We all know that the gravity of a black hole is that of a collapsed star, nothing can survive that...except maybe Matthew McConaughey

then this ending kills all person on Earth because he's not there in the 5th dimension to share the data inside the blackhole to solve half of the missing piece of the equation. but nevertheless this ending is cool.
