I play Bach legato.
I’m Australia’s 🇦🇺 favourite “internet organist” based in a thriving regional centre called Albury, in the state of New South Wales.
Making music is what I love to do-as a soloist, recitalist and accompanist. What joy can music bring if it's not shared with others? (That includes YOU on CZcams 🙂).

Still, Still, Still (Ten Chorale Improvisations) - Paul Manz
zhlédnutí 140Před 16 hodinami
Paul Manz is a well respected American composer for choir and organ. Many Americans will know him for his extensive and accessible organ works based on hymn tunes. Christmas for Australian's is in summer, so I thought for July (which is our winter), I would play Paul's setting of the Austrian carol "Still, Still, Still". Not too long ago, I uploaded a new work by Phil Lehenbauer which used the tune "Ar Hyd y Nos". This piece is Dutch organist, Klaas Jan Mulder's realisation of the Welsh tune. Mulder was church organist at the Dutch Reformed Church in Kampen and a prolific recitalist, presenting an average of 200 concerts a year. Concertini for Cello and Continuo - Zocarini | Ethan Porter and James Flores | Tunes on Tuesday
zhlédnutí 134Před dnem
I had the pleasure of accompanying Ethan Porter, a first year BMus student, for his Tunes on Tuesday recital on June 18, 2024. He chose to perform 5 of the 6 Concertini by Matteo Zocarini. During our rehearsals we discovered that the programme would run overtime, so we omitted the third Concertino. I hope you enjoy this recital and I hope to accompany him at his next performance. 0:00 | Concert...

Prelude and Postlude on "For the Fruits of All Creation" (Ar Hyd y Nos) - Phil Lehenbauer

This Welsh tune is set to a number of hymn texts of which "For the Fruits of All Creation" is what first comes to mind for me. Other hymn texts include "All Through the Night", "God, that madest earth and heaven" and "Go, my children, with my blessing". Phil arranged this tune in two episodes, intended for use as a prelude and postlude at a church service. I recorded this on the Armley Schulze ...

Adagio from Sonata No. 1 in F minor - Felix Mendelssohn | James Flores
zhlédnutí 322Před 28 dny
Mendelssohn's six organ sonatas are well known in the organist's repertoire, each bringing technical demands, musical complexity and expressive capabilities. The quieter movements, especially from his first Sonata, the third and sixth are beautiful and are often used as a contrast and standalone pieces in services and recital programmes. I hope you enjoy my performance of the "Adagio" from his ...
Prelude and Fugue in G minor, BWV 535 - Johann Sebastian Bach | James Flores
zhlédnutí 480Před měsícem
BWV 535 offers a glimpse into Bach's early compositional style. The prelude is thought to be one of his earliest compositions, potentially influenced by Buxtehude. It consists of three quasi-improvised movements, featuring a middle section with rapid hand-switching and descending semitones. The fugue appears more developed, leading to questions about whether they were conceived together. Please...

Awesome
Brilliant performance Jame! Love Adam's compositions - he's one to watch!
I think you’ll enjoy playing this one!
Bravo for the composer and the organist.
Hello dear James, when I heard this wonderful music, I also had to think very much of the 1st Sonata op. 65 No. 1 by F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy. It is wonderful music! Best regards, Roland
You’re very welcome. I’m currently learning that Sonata 🙂
Very wonderful playing James.
Thank you Steve.
F major.
It sounds very majestic! thank you! James!
Thanks, Clara. Have a great weekend!
This is a very well written piece. Sounds a bit historical but I also I hear enough originality for the 21st century. Strong and solemn performance! Well done James!❤
I think I like compositions in minor keys.
Adam Heron has written some wonderful music for the organ and this piece certainly deserved to be awarded a place in the recent Pep Organ Composition Competition. The fabulous Letourneau Organ at St Matthew's has all the gravitas - and fiery sparkle - to really make this 'Processional' come alive, and you play it with your usual verve, James: bravo!
Thank you, Graham. It's a fantastic composition and almost hypnotic in nature!
Wonderful James 👏👏👏👏
Fantastic performance
Nice. Could have been early 20th century Italian.
I really like the feel of this piece :)
This video should get more likes. Who agrees
Absolutely wonderful and exactly what its all about.... fun singing with getting things wrong, phones ringing when they shouldn't and the absolute giggles! What a wonderful practice James!! I love it! Keep up the good work.👍😁
Oh dear James! You just might grow to like the Dutch romantic music I grew up with! I had the privilege as a late teen to be in the St. Laurenskerk, Rotterdam while visiting NL to hear KJM play at his famous New Year's concerts. Amazing!! ❤ And nicely played, btw!
Thank you James! I’m getting a taste of this music and I like it!

Bravo ! Keep on going ! Your Art is making a Better World !
Thank you.
A lovely setting for sure that sounds wonderfully sweet on the Letourneau Organ at St Matthew's. This traditional Austrian carol from the Salzburg region is as pretty as the surrounding countryside. Bravo, James!
Christmas in June! 😂 It’s so cold now I’m looking forward to heading over your side of the world.
Very beautiful and delicate. Merry Christmas !
Thank you! You too!😂
One of my favorite… thank you 🙏
Thanks for listening
I can’t even begin to count the thousands of times I’ve played Paul Manz works, including this one. It’s lovely. Merry Christmas! 🎄🎶🎄
Fellow American composer 🙂
Hello James, it has been a while! I am currently catching up.❤ Please keep up the organ recitals; they make my days❤❤❤😊
Beautiful arrangement for the 🥶 time. I hope I will remember this piece then
Thank you. It’s already winter here haha.
It’s a nice preparation for upcoming Christmas season! Lovely setting!❤
Thank you! 🤗
Merry Christmas James! Lovely collection! This piece is nice and warm.
Merry Christmas and see you soon.
This is the most timeless improvisation I've ever heard! The sort that takes an over active mind, absorbs the thoughts, and communicates to it the importance of turning the thoughts off, and simply sitting in the moment of stillness. Truly incredible!
Thank you Ethan!
Fantastic played
I love playing this piece James. There are so many ways one can play it and so many choices of stops, loud or soft, even solo too. You have mastered it beautifully!!!! (Jonathan) Joshuas father.
Thank you!
A gentle setting played with great sensitivity on the gorgeous Letourneau Organ at St Matthew's: bravo, James!
Thank you, Graham. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful! Thank you from the hills of Wales, UK. 😀
Dutch treat today! Lovely!
From your homeland!
Thanks for this
Fantastic James
Thank you so much
Everlast Arrangement from K.J. Mulder. Nice to hear you playing this now 👍
Thanks for introducing me to it!
Very nice James.. Bravo
Thanks Steve :)
Thanks..the music can bring me to the 7 th heaven..
Is this the new Swell Bow? Bravo to you both.❤️

@@james.floresIt’s actually not easy to accompany these movements because there are quite a few places when both instruments play in unison. How far apart were you guys sitting?
@SecretsofOrganPlaying Looking back I should have moved closer as I did find it hard. We were probably about 3 metres away.
This is fantastic! Lots of wonderful musical talent on display!!! 🎶👍🎶
Thank you, Phil!
Very good, 👍
Zocarini's pieces for the 'cello are well known it is great performed on the double bass. I hope he does well in his exams. Lovely to hear you accompanying on the piano - James.
Thanks Michael.
@@james.flores my pleasure as always.
@@james.flores James I regularly receive personal comments from an international soloist "Cello Tips" Gabriel Martins on You Tube. I am sure that if your young 'cellist friend would like to send him a copy of the video of you both playing the Bottesini he would respond to it and give him some hints that would help him in his studies for his B. Mus. I seem to hear back from many international artists - I am not a musician but as my teacher said ; "Michael you are very musical". Best wishes.
Some research reveals that not a lot is known about Matteo Zocarini, other than he was an 'amatore della musica' (musical amateur) and that his six concertini for cello and basso continuo were printed around 1740. He was believed to be a virtuous cellist, thus the special attention for this instrument in his composing work. There is a possibility that at some point he played in Paris under the name 'Zuccharini', and the character of the music he composed has been described as comparable with Bach's Italian Concerti. As Ethan remarks . . . the quality of the composing certainly reveals someone who was anything but an amateur! Ethan is developing as a fabulous cellist and you accompanied him with great sensitivity, James: bravo to you both!
I went looking for more information too but I could not find any. It was a pleasure to accompany Ethan! Thanks for listening, Graham.
Wow! Fantastic pieces. Thank you both for the concert
James you should have taken my Roland C-30 back with you. May I borrow Ethan and his Cello?
We do need a little continuo instrument!
