How effective do you find the slide hammer method in removing the bearing carriers that have salt build up around them. I have only ever used pullers and heat when its needed. I am curious as I have had some in Australia where I live that I have had to work on over a couple of days to remove as they have been really stuck. Thanks.

So your a “motorboat tech “? I’m a marine mechanic! Have been for decades.. one thing I know for certain is there is no good reason why to start the motor without any water being supplied!! Even if it’s for only a couple of seconds!!! It has a rubber water pump impeller, and at 6 to 800 rpm’s or however you ran it , it only takes a few seconds for the rubber to heat up and start melting the impeller… sure do it once probably won’t show visible damage but if you do this every time you pull it out the water to “blow the water out” it will eventually fail…

Put the heAt on the nut 1st & only or just try to heat the trailer it is on because your not making much difference other then to damage the metal that torch is hitting

Propeller nut is has reverse thread, looks like he is going the wrong way.

Hey its a 2006 Yamaha 150hp. I just bought the boat and they told me little over 300hrs on it. How can i check for the engine hours?? I just placed an order for new oil, lower unit oil, spark plugs, water impeller, filter, water separator, interior anodes, and gas filter. Its the 300hr maintenance kit. I just check my engine shift cable and it aligns line to line when -its in reverse and put in neutral. But when -its in forward and put in neutral it doesn’t align with other line. How can i send you pictures of it?
