1st time experiencing 1m waves in a Supernova at Plas Heli (Pwllheli) - Supernova Nationals 2024. 1st run, with some nice surfing until to boom catches the water and results in a capsize. On righting I find the rudder has fallen off!, After managing to get it back on, I pull the rudder downhaul, before straightning up.. doh! Capsize to windward and break the goPro holder!

From hero to zero! Leading the sunday pursuit race, only to dip the boom in the water on the leeward mark gybe. = capsize. A quick recovery, only losing one place. Battled well on the beat to get back in the lead, even with a few massive headers and neat windward capsizes. Only to stuff the tack near the windward mark and capsize again :-(. ... Hero to Zero!

Nice one, out of interest what type of scaffold poles did you use, alloy or steel??
Steel. One strapped to the roof bar with a ratchet strap, vertical one for ground support, V at the top with a tied an angle bracket…. But an oar rowlock would also be suitably. However it’s much easier to grab a couple of bodies to help lift it on (as people at the open events know) … the see me arrive and run for the club house!

The joy of a none-stayed mast. My mast is one of the original Needlespar masts which are a bit 'whippy'! There's a proposal at this weekends association meeting to allow full Carbon Fibre masts... we'll have to see how they compare!
