      Yes, we quite regularly move 16 ft logs with ours and it manages fine. 12 ft is the sweet spot but with 16's we just don't heap them right up. The bunk is just over 3m long with an extension of about 40cm if needed.

    I like these little forwarders I looked at buying one to use in the New Forest and other the only problem is loading trucks and how far you have to drive to the unloading areas people want you to use and not just come straight out of the forest. Thank you for the video thumbs up and shared. 👍

    • @treelinewoodlandsltd6162
      @treelinewoodlandsltd6162 Před rokem

      Hi Richard, thanks for your interest. For long extraction distances you can use the trailer which takes capacity up to 9 tonnes, or in volume terms the same as a Komatsu 845. (See video here: czcams.com/video/azA9HuT5nHg/video.html ) The crane and height of the machine would not be so good for loading trucks though, we have never tried... We are looking at the option of hiring out one of our Malwa forwarders for people to use on sensitive jobs and to be able to get a better try of the machines, especially if they have individual sensitive jobs but not full time work for it. Let us know if this would be of interest.

    Looks like a nifty little machine! The controls seem well thought out, too. Setting the speed with the dial, much like cruise control, appears a little odd but I'm sure you get used to it very quickly.

    • @treelinewoodlandsltd6162
      @treelinewoodlandsltd6162 Před 2 lety

      Yea, it's more like a speed limiter than cruise control as it just sets the top speed. This lets you keep your foot flat to the floor rather than having to hover at the right speed, which can be tricky when bouncing over things in the forest.

      @@lostcreek163 early thinning or 1st thinning is to put access into woodlands for further work in the future a rack is a line put into the woodland like you see in this video if the wood is planted in line the general rule of thumb is every 7 row or trees you take the 8th row and you thin out the first 3 rows of timber so you have room to place the produce if you thin a woodland to hard at its early stage it opens the wood up to wind and can blow over and cause the trees to become rough especially if the the wood is on the side of a hill after first thinning is complete you then second thin taking out the poorer quality timber out and leaving the better trees in some cases after that they clear fell the wood and in others depending on area and quality of timber they may thin again spacing the timber out and leaving the very best ones
