HG3 QRO High Power Magnetic Loop Antenna
zhlédnutí 38KPřed 3 lety
The New HG3plus controller was completely redesigned. It remotely controls both the HG3 PRO and QRO Magnetic Loop Antennas and the AR1 Rotator. Retaining all the great features of our HG3 PRO model, the new HG3 QRO high power (1.5 KW) model raised the bar again in magnetic loop antenna performance (MLA). It covers 80-10 meters and features a high Q vacuum capacitor with 43,000 step resolution, ...

    On the rotation, can you display and or set a azimuth direction? Can the controller follow the frequency set by the radio? I assume you need to tune basically on every frequency used vs the band selected.

      John, We're sorry you are not satisfied. We've never said that the units are waterproof. The enclosures are not meant to be used in weather conditions that would allow water to penetrate the units. We do offer customer support via our website using the customer support form. • @justanotherguy3850
      @justanotherguy3850 Před 3 lety

      I don't think mentioning their price was done with disrespect. I would agree the $1,200 for a magnetic loop regardless of the quality of the build seems rather High because you still have to add the rotor on and the 80m and 60m and still the question of performance has to be asked. What's the angle of radiation or the take-off angle? How does it compare to a log periodic it's the same altitude? I have an expensive steppir and I can't see a magnetic loop outperforming my steppir. I say this certainly was no disrespect. The inventor is obviously quite a bit of time into this. I did notice an inconsistency in the Q St review and that it talked about how the remote tuner only covered 7-30mhz. What about 80m? No automated remote tuning? I'd really like to see one of these and operation before I spend that kind of money. Reviews on a ham for example don't show the great success that this video might suggest.

      @denelson83 Před 3 lety

      @@justanotherguy3850 The manual for this antenna says it will cover 80 metres with an external resonator. But I am fully expecting it to be quite inefficient on that particular band. You may very well need the amplifier to work any SSB on 75 metres.

    • @user-ss6zt2mo1l
      @user-ss6zt2mo1l Před 3 lety

      @@justanotherguy3850 $1200 ! That's an absolute bargain ! for the amount of engineering that went into this. As for the Low bands, you would need a HUGE Loop for that. There is a Ham in Australia that has a 160 through 40 Loop. It is at Least 10 feet across. It is Huge.. I have made several loops. They work great. The difficult part is the implementation of the capacitor and the box to run it easily. Dx Engineering sells Italian Loops that are $3600. They are Home Station Antennas, and these loops more portable. You could probably mount this in a permanent location too. I would be interested in seeing the loop design of this use a Fractal Antenna conductor design, for a permanent placement which has increased frequency capability and reduced size. I am happy this company is building these and especially for QRO..

    • @justanotherguy3850
      @justanotherguy3850 Před 3 lety

      @@user-ss6zt2mo1l I guess I'm spoiled because I use a steppir. I see the new model has come out and the operator said he can get a pretty good copy of stations if they're an S7 or better. Frankly, that's not good enough for me. I want to be able to dig them out of the dirt. But for some people this may be a very viable option depending on the circumstances or maybe they're going to a Mountaintop or something. I'm certainly not trying to knock the product. I haven't even tried it. I don't think there's anything wrong with the price either. A lot of time energy and money went into developing it and with the small pool of people that might purchase it he needs to make his money back.

    After tuning a Small Magnetic Loop Antenna with the ANTENNA controls, NEVER, EVER use the Transceiver INTERNAL antenna tuner. When this is done, the LC circuit in the Antenna is fighting the LC circuit in the Transceiver. It may look good but the circulating currents in both will increase. It gets much worse at high power [100W]. The result is still the same. I will not risk my expensive transceiver.

    • @jamescrofutt8767
      @jamescrofutt8767 Před 3 lety

      Totally agree. You defeat the purpose of the high Q match , something is amiss in the demonstration, if the cap is not flawed and the antenna is away from objects at least 3 feet then you should easily get a match. I have owned several loops including the Precise RF loop and getting a match to near 1 to 1 was always easy. 73 Jim
