    It’s a great work site miter saw, however it requires over a 3ft clearance which is not compatible with a garage or work shed work bench which usually has at most a 28-30 inch depth.

      Jsir, You said "Stainless Steel", I'd take a look at Summit Racing Equipment, there are a few companies making them. Tightening the nut defeats the purpose of the bearing. Put a nylon insert nut on top, or just hammer the nut a tiny bit oblong, so it stays on there without being tightened down.. Thread locker would work too. The top nut serves no purpose other than keeping mud out of there.

    • @StilesAutomotive
      @StilesAutomotive Před 16 dny

      Bill, yep you have to make space for the Bearing. Nylon Nuts are normally taller, you have to find a short one, but yes that would work. Thanks for the comment! - Stiles

  • @EarlGuyton425
    @EarlGuyton425 Před 19 dny

    All wrong. Back lash between the ring gear and pinion isnt the only thing to check. You also check for pinion in and out play and make sure the nut is tightened to where there is no in and out play, then only tighten maybe a quarter turn on the nut. Plus, you should only use a ratchet with the socket so you can feel and see how far until the flange touches the bearing inner washer. Your job may get lucky, but its done wrong

    • @StilesAutomotive
      @StilesAutomotive Před 17 dny

      Earl, This method doesn't check anything, it simply puts the Rearend back the way it was. I appreciate the comment - Stiles

    • @EarlGuyton425
      @EarlGuyton425 Před 17 dny

      @@StilesAutomotive Puts the rear end back the way it was???? Thats retarded, to ASSUME it was correct as it was before. Also it is stupid to mark where the drive shaft was bolted to the differential pinion flange, BEING the drive shaft is balanced within itself and was never balanced with the differential at all. The drive shaft is balanced in where regardless if you bolt it back on a complete half turn from where it was cannot make any difference at all. Why do people justify being retarded?

    • @StilesAutomotive

      Robert, Good tip! I normally just use Needle Nose Pliers. I flatten out the Cotter Pin, then (sometimes) put the tip of the Pliers in the Eye of the Cotter Pin. I see your point, my Needle Nose is often to big, and your Dikes would work better. - Stiles

    This is the easiest to understand deck install video that I've seen, yet. Thank you. I have a problem though, hope you can help. I removed the deck from my 16yo gt2550. When i went to put it back on, the height lever, still in the highest position, is stuck. The button depresses, but that lever is jammed tight. Also, and probably related, is that those black levers that the pins go in won't move up or down, either. I have no clue as to what or where?! I'm grateful for any suggestions.

    Good video. Just a note to everyone watching, that left side rear deck hanger bracket is really bent due to age/time, which will cause the deck to sag and cut unevenly. That bracket needs to be bent back straight/level with a pry bar when the deck is removed from the mower. I've been using one of these slt1554 cubs since 2006 and it's a real workhorse!

    So did you have to drain the trans first?

    • @StilesAutomotive
      @StilesAutomotive Před měsícem

      Gary, Nope, not necessary. You only get the Transmission Fluid in the Lines and Cooler, the Transmission pumps the Fluid thru the System. However, when doing this work, now would be a great time to service/change the Transmission Filter and Fluid. - Stiles

      @@StilesAutomotive I bought a used car. 125,000 miles. Trans fluid was never changed. Got a new pan and filter. They replaced 6 quarts. I am now kicking myself for not changing the cooler lines. They are rusty. I will go in soon. I just don't want my trans to start slipping if they change too much fluid too soon. Parts are ordered and are going to the dealer. I guess everything will be ok. Thank you for your response.

      Mick, I not sure what you mean, here. At the Caliper there is a Banjo Bolt. Its Head is like the Head of a Normal Bolt, but the Banjo Bolt allows Brake Fluid to flow thru it. Just remove it like at Normal Bolt. I have other Stiles Automotive Video, which show Caliper replacement. - Stiles

    Good work. To make things go easier for you , take a floor jack and raise from the front bumper on the 1054, slide it on a concrete floor and lower the front, makes positioning the deck so much easier.

    • @StilesAutomotive
      @StilesAutomotive Před 22 dny

      Terry, Yep, sliding the Deck on anything other than Grass is easier. I chose to show how the Deck was designed to be installed. I take my Deck off each winter to store the Tractor, I was taking it off so I could use the Tractor with a Snow Plow, but that sucks compared to a Snow Plow on the F-150. I appreciate the comment! - Stiles

    Id leave both hardened washers with the needle bearing and snug the big nut up and drill a hole for a cotter pin .

      And put one washer under the nut on top of the spindle, to make the nut spin easier on the I beam.

    • @StilesAutomotive
      @StilesAutomotive Před 21 dnem

      Bud, Yep, you are right the Bearing needs the Washers for a long wear solution. And also they are a wear out assembly, replace them together when needed. A Cotter Pin is better than Loctite as some people suggested, but a Nut should stay tight from the torque applied to it and not rely on the Pin or Thread Sealer. In this case, a Cotter Pin work work, Cub Cadet uses a Flat Washer and Cotter Pin to hold the Front Wheel on! I appreciate the comment (and the other one too)! - Stiles
