Live Aid - Rockin' All Over The World (6/6)
Documentary telling the story of the day that music rocked the world. Bob Geldof recalls how, after 12 weeks of manic preparation, the big day finally arrived. But would it work, would the punters watch, and more importantly would they part with their cash?
Bob Geldof and his team recall their fear of how the whole thing might fall apart at any minute. Stars from the day itself - Elton John, Queen, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, U2 and a whole host of others - remember walking out to face a crowd of 72,000 and a global audience of billions. And those who watched it at home, including Tony Blair, JK Rowling and Helen Fielding, recall how they didn't miss a minute of this extraordinary event.

Prince wasn't there.
I'm waiting for the fireworks while they're singing the Christmas song in the end 😂
Still it aid the Wold shake, can't bi Don Henley or was it Neil Young with ACDC and whole lot off AROSIES?
Simon!!! no one remembers it! It was such a great, successful day.
Status quo ❤❤❤
they should have given out 1,ooo,ooo condoms
THEY WERE ALL ROCK GODS FOR PERFORMING AT LIVE AID!
Still bawling like a baby watching this in 2024! You have to admit, every single one of these bands all over the world who performed for Live Aid were Rock Gods... at least for one day!
Andy, you try banging out a pop record hit. Until then try growing up, muppet at the time
Midge is so humble
Bob, a hero and didn't set out and want to be. That's a true hero
I hope in years to come we look back on this with collective pride. Unlike the US there wasn’t an insurrection but in acutely difficult circumstances, three honourable parties and their leaders acted in the national interest. To stand aside, to group together and set aside interests. It may have been a one off but it showed the ability to work in the national interest across party divisions and in an increasingly polarised world, it’s important to remember that it is possible.
Geldof makes Elon Musk look boring .
Elon Musk makes Elon Musk look boring.
Freddie Mercury being Freddie Mercury 8:54🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤👑👑👑
Terribly dreadful mess ……… and that’s why it worked ✌🏼
Bono grabbing the mic from McCartney tlso he had it for himself.....he is such a git!
It was my teenage years. I watched the whole thing.
Freddie Mercury es fantástico
Nearly 38 years later and that Ethiopia footage still brings me to tears. 😢
Great concert, for all the wrong reasons. Response to article only.
Is this from the original Live aid 4 dvd set or the 20 years after Live Aid review one disk tying that came out 2005? Or is this something completely different? Just wondering bc I’m considering buying one of the 2 DVDs and wondering if this is on one of them. Interesting what was going on behind the scenes and was this the first concert to raise money for the poor like “We are the world”?
Near the end, when Midge just says "We pulled it off" that gets me every time. You did good, Bob. You did really damn good
Ruling family of dubai knows how good queen band is to give away their money
Queen band had the best performance ever!!!!
7:35 He lied completely to get the collation going and put the tories back in power. They certainly need to be voted out at next election with 4 elections all based around lies.
Simply amazing. Bob and Midge are heroes! Thanks for this!
It was an awesome time to be a teenager!
Rockin all over the World is the perfect opening song.
Wot a day for me and all to be there and see all
Queen at Live Aid is the greatest ever live performance in the history of music!
Robert plant fail years later in the freddie Mercury tribute siging Innuendo.
they should have done the america live aid in central park
Tony Hadley “ alright world”. 😂😂😂😂😂
Queen The Best Band Ever. Mr. Mercury The Best singer and frontman ever! These guys are really missed!
Bob Geldof can't sing,, but Midge Ure sure can..
The day queen shock the planet 🔥
Who’s the 1st group singing???
Ah Live Aid where all the biggest artists flew in on their private jets, got paid a shipload and all the donated money went straight into an Ethiopian warlords pocket. Well done Bob well done.
The stadium reflected in Midge's glasses. Priceless.
Remember watching this documentary on TV over 10 years ago!
During that Cars video, there wasn’t a dry eye in the stadium. I’ll never forget that moment. It was as though the world stopped and nothing else mattered. I can still hear people all around me sobbing.
They're describing a communal/altruistic (but also malignant!) NARCISSIST. He's the reason Michael Hutchence killed himself. You can never win with a narcissist like this guy.
Geldork is a complete and utter narciccist, and he can't sing for s***. Ure has an amazing voice.
Midge ure also was behind this
Excuse me , Queen? Anywhere?????
George In his Levi’s and yellow shirt 🤤 🥰.
I wonder if they could repeat this feat today which artists would agree to do it now.
i forgot Noel !
When the presenter said we should give the address first, Bob said, fuck the address, so he did use the word but not about the money.
Now I know rock band Queen was the highlight of LiveAid, but let's not forget status Qua performance that day, plus it wasn't easy been the first band on that day. Maybe I'm wrong here, I thought I thought I read somewhere Frank zappa turned down LiveAid, because he didn't agree with the whole thing.
