ENCLOSURE for a 3D Resin Printer || Anycubic Photon D2
In this video I'm building an enclosure for an 'Anycubic Photon D2' resin 3D printer.
Working in a tight enclosed space like this might not work for everyone, especially if you are used to work in a dedicated 3D printing room with lots of space.
* I recommend to make the enclosure deeper than mine, so the side-door can be wider and the project will be less cramped.
You can integrate some of these techniques into your own project, but bare in mind there's a 1000 different ways to build a project like this (mine might not be the easiest nor best solution) - So try to keep it simple and customize it to your own needs & skills.
I did my best to make this video easy to understand for everyone - but still, having some DIY-experience is highly recommended.
Notes :
* I added English Subtitles (click the 'CC' button).
* This video is not sponsored, everything you see is payed with my own money.
* 3D Printer dimensions : 17.2 x 9.3 x 8.9 inch / 430 x 236 x 226 mm (HWD)
* Fan used : EC (Electronically Commutated), Brushless motor.
* IPA is highly flammable (!) - Don't use a brushed motor for the extraction fan (!)
* Keep a fire-extinguisher nearby.

    Beautifully explained, with great visuals, superb! Merci bien! Thank you too, for NO MUSIC!!!! What joy. Mass Loaded Vinyl sheets are very good for dampening noise at the bottom of the box. Its a rubberized vinyl. Heavy. Use Noico panels on the compressor tank to dampen the rattling clang jang of metal to a thuck sound, much softer. It is used on cars and RV metal panels. When metal vibrates, the sound is tinny and high but this dampens the metal vibration sound. This sound box is a great idea for any noisy device. Thank you for the detailed visuals, makes it easy to build.

    Could you talk more about the venting and your comment on creating a vacuum?

    • @stevenshobbychannel
      @stevenshobbychannel Před měsícem

      Well basically when you have a sealed box - and you put a fan on it to extract the air, the fan pulls out all the air it can and creates a vacuum. This will put a lot of force on the fan-motor. So to avoid creating a vacuum you need a second opening to pull new air inside the box. In my case it's the grill in the frontdoor. During printing the fan is rotating slow, so the grill opening is enough, but when cleaning I set the fan to a high speed, then more air is sucked out, so I need to let more air in, to do this I open the front doors, both for my arms and to let new air in... hope this makes sence, cheers

      Ja je compressor heeft normaal een "euro koppeling" aansluiting, bij hubo kan je enkele koppelstukken vinden om van 'Euro' naar 'schroefdraad' of 'flexibele slang' te gaan... Ik heb destijds 'POWAIR0263' gekocht en heb dan een flexible slang gebruikt tot aan de nipple van m'n airbrush. Een andere die ze bv verkopen is 'POWAIR0250', die heeft schroefdraad, vermoedelijk is dat '1/2 schroefdraad', dan zou je nog een verloopstukje nodig hebben om van '1/2' naar '1/8' (airbrush hose) te gaan... Heb zelf nog geen euro-naar-airbrush koppeling gevonden maar vermoedelijk moet dat wel bestaan. Hopelijk heb je er iets aan, succes

    If you are going yo screw down the plexiglass you might aswell use some clear caulking/hot glue to make it air tight. Plus not sure how well filters actually work but be a goid idea to properly vent the room/nuclear bunker the printer is located in. Wouldve been more user friendly if you made the enclosure with a front door accessable with some struts. But cool job. Oh wait no filter on the fan? Then whats the point?

    Glad I watched this before I started my build. I was going to make a container for my 8 gallon compressor out of 1/2" plywood and was simply going to make a box lined with sound deadening material and two holes mounted for exhaust fans in the back. Your method has a little more science involved with the different channels does this make a big difference in lowering volume? My compressor is already a quiet one that goes to about 68db max without a container. Is mdf better for this purpose? My compressor weighs like 50 lbs so I thought i would need something sturdier. I also had thought of just drilling a hole and using a rubber grommet for the power cable and hoses.

    • @stevenshobbychannel
      @stevenshobbychannel Před 6 měsíci

      Hi, reducing sound can be quite complex, but in general the heavier the (box) material will be, the more it will reduce sound, MDF tends to be cheap and heavy, so that's why I used it. Plywood will work too, but 1/2" might be somewhat on the thin side though (perhaps add an extra layer of mdf on the inside?). The channels help reduce some of the direct sound-rays, imagine someone shouting directly at you or from behind the corner, the difference might be subtle but all small things help. hope you project will turn out nice, cheers

      @@stevenshobbychannel Hey so I finally did this for myself thanks for the info and suggestions. I used 3/4" plywood btw. @stevenshobbychannel Před 2 měsíci

      Hi, great to read you've finished your project, to be safe I would cut out a small bit around the hot parts, so nothings starts melting or creating toxic fumes etc. It's always better if you can keep a space of about 1/2" around hot areas. Perhaps heat a small left-over piece with a hot iron or something to see what it does... Cheers

    No mention of the drain valve in the tank - they always supply a 1/4" brass valve which rarely gets a mention. Replace the valve with a push-in elbow fitting & run some flexi line outside the box & fit a ball valve to it. The pressure will force any water thru the drain port & as hot air holds more moisture best time to vent is when you start up the compressor and it's at it's coldest.
