Snapping pour points as part of watershed delineation in QGIS, using the Whitebox tools. The watershed delineation process is some variation of 1) Condition DEM through a Breach or Fill, 2) Flow direction (also known as Flow pointer), 3) Flow Accumulation, 4) Identify high flow areas near watershed outlet location (typically through symbology settings or a Reclass operation, 5) Create/snap pour...

Hello. Thank you for the tutorial. I have a question. If I am going to do a hydrological analysis, should I use a DEM with bi-linear interpolation or nearest negihbor? Im not sure in wich case I should use each of them.Thank you

Hi again! So when I add the map that is selected on the data pane, by drawing a box, the map inside the box is too small. There is white space to one side that I cannot seem to get rid of. It is a boundary around my map that I cannot remove. It also reduces the area of my map. How do I get rid of this boundary so that it is just the graphical elements of my map that are reproduced on the print composer?

Hello! I have a question you might be able to answer: how do I adjust the scale of the layers that are imported so that they are all at the same scale? The first time I did the exercise, everything went great. I came back to do it again and I have this problem with scale. My layer with the lakes shows up in the data pane as a tiny dot that I need to zoom in to so that it fills the data pane. My roads file is the same. I have tried to make them both the same scale by the fillable section in the bottom of the data pane for each layer but no luck. I have tried using the panel on the right that has a scale and position option and I cannot make the two layers jive. I have also re downloaded the files just in case my original is corrupted somehow. Any suggestions?

So, my polygon completely ignored the other one. I started my polygon line inside the existing polygon, then after going out and completing a C-shape, I finished inside the same existing polygon, but my new polygon ignored the existing one and connected to itself. At first I kept getting an error saying it cannot complete the polygon due to intersection avoidance. I fixed that by un-checking the "avoid overlap" option in the advanced snapping, but now I'm stuck. Please help!

Awesome video Paul. Inline variables are such a great feature. Super charges models in a very portable way as you convey. My GIS professor at CSU Fresno in California leveraged your books and resources for both his introductory and advanced GIS courses. I still reference the materials you've created in my professional work years later.

Is there really no way to have QGIS fix things like dangles or pseudo nodes other than manually doing it? Same for fixing gaps. My current workflow is in Arc and I am trying to post my same workflow to QGIS and checking topology is a critical step. The only problem is I often smooth lines then generalize then, then create polygons. The auto fix in Arc really speeds up the process, especially when some of my maps can be quite dense with line work.

Okay, but what about saving that temp layer? I ask, because that's where I'm getting stuck. When I go to "save file as" I'm not getting an option to save as an .shp. Maybe it's called something else that I'm not seeing? What I'm currently working with is trying to dissolve some 500 election precincts into about 150 larger regional precincts. Does that mean I'd have to create 150 temp layers by like adding "1" to the first group of precincts that need dissolving, then "2" and so on?

Hi, thanks. This is a set of videos that is a work in progress, so it isn't yet as organized as it will be once I'm further along. I'm putting it together for resource managers/mappers in Minnesota, so a lot of the data and examples are Minnesota centric. That said, this video shows how to load google and bing maps: czcams.com/video/JQskruX1sBs/video.html This one how to access/download vector and raster data, like the roads in the video you viewed: czcams.com/video/KBpjNlaFjXs/video.html This one on line digitizing lines: czcams.com/video/avqBmY7YF5Y/video.html and this one on an integrated workflow: czcams.com/video/r2ZyzoZd98M/video.html To see the set of videos I've created so far, perhaps best to search in CZcams for "Mapeez QGIS3". Cheers, Paul B
