With mere hours of experience in the art and science of optical design, the team at SUPERCHROMAT remain novices in the field. As such, this prime lens, with 6 elements over 4 groups, provides inferior optical performance at a price affordable to few. Regardless of whether it’s a matter of selective focus in the close-up range, high-contrast available light applications or landscape shots with i...

    I followed your technique but my coffee now tastes of IPA - not India Pale Ale, but Isopropanol. Also, it has subtle hints of solder and flux and an aroma of scorched FR4. I think I've done something wrong.?

    Hey - you've inadvertantly opened the trapdoor to a very specialist area of RF design. Radio hams have, in the last 25-30 years, been designing and building very high spec HF recievers and transcievers using H-mode mixers. There was a lot of buzz about these techniques 20 years ago or more, but due to the fact that DDS methods have taken over as the new wanna-buy kit the very high dynamic range approach that MOSFET and square-drive mixers provide has been bypassed except for those striving for the best possible performance. Some search terms for further research - G3SBI mixer , H-mode mixer , TLT H-mode mixer , IK4AUY mixer , high IP3 RF mixer I ran across this vid searching for "CMOS RF mixer" and ended up watching your whole vid even though I was really looking for a circuit I saw is Radcom magazine in, oh, about 1997 haha

    I'v heard a few times people say that the 42S was the best HP calculator ever made. I don´t have a 42S so I can´t say if I agree or not, but I do have a 11C and I absolutelly love it dearly. I also have a 48GX that I used during engineering undergraduation but I would rather use the 11C than have to navigate through many 48GX menus. So I understand why many people would also prefer a simpler 42S than a vastly more complex and powerfull 48GX. I recently bought a 15C and a 41CV and love them both but for matrices, complex numbers and integration there is nothing like the 48GX.

    I think that BlackMagic may use some common PCB design techniques (not necessarily the same PCB) for a number of converters - I've seen a teardown of their SDI to HDMI converter czcams.com/video/ImcmgyI7OEg/video.html that looks very similar - so I think that unpopulated chip may be for an HDMI transmitter potentially.

    I bought an ultrasonic cleaner (the exact same one you're using... ) just to test what that research paper found. My first run was a bit of a dud cuz I used a glass container rather than something thinner like plastic or metal, but I'll give this some more tries and see how it actually turns out. I can say this will never be a viable home coffee brewing method long term, if only because of the terrible noise the ultrasonic makes when on. Well, at least I have a parts cleaner at the end of this experiment...

    Thanks! I worked in the mail room in Standard & Poor's back in the 70's and had to make many deliveries to McGraw Hill (in NYC). There was a store in the building that sold HP calculators and I fell in love with them but I couldn't afford anything at the time. I was able to save up and buy a TI 59 calculator w/printing crib and had fun programming blackjack on it. (I pulled it out of storage recently. The batteries died and the mag reader has problems but they otherwise still work!) In the early 80's I became a programmer was able to buy an HP 16C and it quickly became my go-to calculator. I had to change the batteries only once since then. I bought the Swiss Micros DM42 as soon as I found out about it. The keys and the screen are a bit lacking, but I love everything else about it. I still use the 16C for hex/dec conversions and bit manipulations and use the DM42 for everything else. I seem to have a problem with 'normal' calculators because I think in RPN now. I may buy a spare (updated) DM42 and their 16C clone and maybe others just for fun. My name is Dave and I have an HP calculator problem ...

    I'm more of an AVR fan boy rather than PIC... I was wondering what kind of PICs you were using and if a poor little 8 bit AVR might be up to the job. I'm working with good old fashioned 625 line PAL rather than 1080p which could work in my favour. I came back here to see if you could recommend a good opamp for video work... so thanks for mentioning the LM7171 right at the start. :)

    Hi mate Paul from Sydney. I actually used the Cmos inverter as an audio amp (low powered) intercom. I cant remember the output power but it was enough to power a speaker. The feedback resistor on a "digital" gate is a forgotten trick. It forces the gate to its linear area. I think you may get vcc/2....not sure. With a quad inverter chip you could bias them all and put a ferrite ant out front and come up with a basic AM receiver..which part of Aus are you from?

    Perhaps it needs to see something on the SI pin to send the data. Perhaps it can send the data stored in memory for a particular user, and you would tell it witch user with some simple command. Often if you send a CR-LF sequence it will show some data and perhaps a command prompt?

      Its got a weird softness in the middle, so it doesn't work great for portraits. I really like the high contrast look with lights, so I stuck with that for this video. @@superchromatI'd be interested in a video going over the construction of the lens and such. I've always been interested in trying to make a funky lens but it's not totally clear where how much effort is required to accomplish "weird and artsy" like your lens (as opposed to a practically useless one you might get just by messing around.)

    • @bborud
      @bborud Před 5 měsíci

      @@superchromatI'd be interested in exactly what you were thinking about: optical design and simulation process. I have been playing with the idea of building my own experimental lenses, but I have no idea where to start or if it is even feasible. As for portraits, yeah, I noticed the uneven sharpness you get out of the lens (which probably comes from the lens in your eye moving along an offset circle rather than pivoting around the center of the lens, and your eye having only about 4 degrees of sharp vision). I was wondering what it would look like if you got the sharp part of the image over the eye(s).

Nowadays it's getting nearly impossible to find a new TV with YPbPr input. A few still have a single composite input, but component is nearly impossible to find.
