If they're smart enough, they should add a movie theater to this mall where the Sears used to be. Which if they need, they can probably expand that part of the building and use some of the land in the parking lot to do so. Also, I know that there's a CMX Cinema right down the street and directly across the street from the 500 track at 1 Dayton, but they don't have an IMAX and or any type of premium screen offerings. So if they bring in a big chain that offers at least IMAX, then I think that they can increase foot traffic that way. Which this also offers something that the competition down the street doesn't have, so people have no choice but to go there if they want a premium screen option. Which in turn, can possibly get people to come to restaurants and to go shopping.

You make such good videos, and great commentary. I have seen a few locations with the British spelling like the iconic San Francisco Centre.

I don’t walk through the mall anymore, it’s too sad for me to see what happened to this place. I’ll park outside the JCPenny’s or Macy’s if I need to go into one of those stores. Back in 2013, you could see everyone walking around with friends, families, and pre-teens causing chaos in the food court.

You need to check out the Tallahassee "Center of Tallahassee Mall". I lived in Tallahassee for a few years around 2017, and it was dead back then, I can't imagine what it is now.

I'm not an Amazon shopper, but I absolutely hate malls. I will go shopping at a store, but not at one of these monstrosity malls. And I miss Opryland too.

This shopping centre used to be thriving back in the 90s and even the early 00s. If you want to visit a dying mall near here. Visit middleton grange centre in hartlepool. We have some shop units that have been abandoned for over 20 years here plus a 60s brutalist market thats half closed off due to the roof being unsafe. We are due a regeneration project on the centre but theres no date as of when that will happen yet. Alot of empty shop units in the place

They have lots of cool events that happen there like almost every week!! Actors show up and everything it’s very fun

They're doing a lot of renovations, but I hope they keep the charming postmodern touches. You just don't see that kinda whimsical flourish anymore

When I was a youngster my rotten parents refused to take me to Volusia Mall no matter how much I begged and threatened them. Their flimsy excuse was that we lived 1,900 miles away.

Amazon and Covid are both contributors to mall deaths, but never underestimate the damage ObamaCare did to department stores by requiring all full time employees be given healthcare. By switching to mainly part-time workers, this devastated professional workers and caused the shopping experience to decline rapidly against Amazon, who were able to skirt higher pay and retail overhead along with charging taxes. That's well over a 10 (maybe 15)% advantage.

Up until a couple of years or so ,the Theater was doin okay, shoulda gathered itself but that side of Sweet Home San Antone isn’t doin so great¡ North Star Mall isn’t doin much better(it is). imo Santikos Bijou

I was there maybe 4 years ago? Right before covid. It was a dead then. What they needed was a big movie theater that attracts people and traffic. Too late now, in One Daytona they have a 12 + movie theater right at the end. I take my dog to One Daytona and get a free PUP cup from the ice cream place and then walk through Bass Pro Shops to get away from the heat. Now, there is a Costco's behind One Daytona that adds to traffic but still, go visit , it's nice and OH, they have a fountain :)

Goomba's is always a good choice. There is a new food place called Vicious Eats that is really good too. That large unused area you walked through became a shoe store called WSS and a Five Below.

Was just there on a Friday at 5:30pm no one in the mall dead as the video. Champs is gone. No ideal about any apartments no sign. Avenues Mall in Jacksonville busy, Volusia Mall is just janky.

I went here around a year ago, I never even knew it was a mall I just remember hearing Battersea power station as the last stop on the tube and wondered what it was, when I got there was amazed at the sheer size of the place its an incredible building in itself. When I was wandering around the inside most of the shops I had zero interest in or couldn't afford but was more interested in the building itself, and its cool they've left parts of the power station around with an info board to look at. I ended up getting a drink from one of the expensive cafes and got a t shirt from Uniqlo at tge end of the mall which is about the only clothes shop thats not super luxury I could find. I'm glad they restored it though and i think its been done quite tastefully.

The thing that stuck out the most to me whenever I've been there is the lack of any architectural design standards. Any Simon mall will have dozens of pages of criteria and a detailed review process. It really cheapens the place when most units have been reduced to hole-in-the-wall thrift shops with the tackiest canvas banner and LED strip signage imaginable.

The Hot Topic, selfie center, and the simulation shop all packed up and moved out. It's been increasingly worse, though I hope it succeeds only because they have a retro game shop that sells repro carts for my Nintendo 64

I live in Daytona and unless they are giving away gold to residents at these outdoor places like One Daytona I will never go there. Too damn hot!

As someone who has a family member who was a Council Person for Balcones, I can say that one of the little city’s focuses is keeping the mall going with businesses, though they do have a lot of challenges. Like you said, it’s a budget problem. While it does feel empty a lot of times, the events and conventions held there make it fill up quickly and give it its life.

It could have been a football stadium for Chelsea Football Club with restaurants and shops... The current Stamford Bridge could have then been replaced by residential property. Absolute fail.

I remember going to Toys R us at Brent cross when they were closing, I wanted a gamecube game that was reduced one I'd been looking for ages but I can't remember what it was now, I queued up ages to pay for it, then was instructed to go to another queue with my receipt to get the disc put in the box, I wanted ages, then they couldn't find the disc and eventually gave up and directed me back to the tills for a refund, I queued up again to get my money back all in all over 40 mins to come out empty handed, I thought god no wonder you went bust.

i love going to wonderland mall since i live in SA, it used to have a boucey place but now a skate and arcade, it also have mutiple events like holloween and maybe anime convections, athough look sketchy but its a old and cool mall:)

I work for one of the contractors of BPS. In my opinion it's the best development in London right now both in entertainment and luxury apartments. It is worth a visit but the food in the Arcade is not very good and they have literal box room studio apartments starting at like 4k a month. This is where I'm torn, I think it looks fantastic. But then I think about the state of the economy, all the London born residents being priced out of the city entirely - even the shit parts and the housing crisis and I just think "What a waste of land that we really don't have to spare"

I am now envisaging a circle mall, where its basically a doughnut shape, with shops along the outside edge and a garden area in the middle visible at all times from the circular covered walkway of the doughnut, and in the centre of that garden area small food stands with their seating areas aranged in rather like a pizza formation with each establishment owning the area of a slice. maybe I'm just hungry.

Only 15 miles from me. The Sanford Town Centre mall is even worse. I haven't been in Volusia Mall in forever though. I do love Dillards though. Great investment too, somehow their stock is in the $400s. Family owned and they still run a tight ship. But, I think they need to start building their own buildings and transitioning from malls.

I still have not been there, I keep meaning to check it out just to see the inside of that building, but even for me as a Londoner its a bit convoluted to get to via public transport, the whole battersea/putney bridge area has always been a pain in the arse to get to on public transport, hence why I hardly ever go there, I think I've been to battersea park like twice in 40 years. what is the "affordable" housing anyway last I heard Khan thought £500 a week was affordable.
