Dark Moon Greatsword is just crazy, even at Rune Level 1. Although it requires a lot of statboosting gear, so I'm not sure we can even call this RL1 anymore.
This run started out as a more sorcery focused playthrough, but I really enjoyed using the int-focused weapons more.

Pretty solid weapon thanks to its Ash of War, at least for the first phase. The second phase killed me a lot. My initial strategy was to get off a frost proc in the second phase, but I think it's just slower and worse.

It's so hard to not just keep using Wing of Astel in this run, and it's especially busted against Maliketh. I had to redo the fights a couple of times until I got good enough RNG for the speedkill though.

I didn't feel like doing these guys with sorceries, so I went all in with Wing of Astel instead. They are just so much easier with something that can stance break them, and the damage is honestly pretty impressive. I think the weapon still fits the theme.

Alternative title: The struggle that is second phase Fire Giant. The plan was to use Spiral Shard in the second phase, but then the physick ran out and I didn't have enough int. So what follows is a painfully slow phase two.

A little bit shocked by how quickly this goes. Carian Slicer is beginning to feel a bit boring though, hopefully I'll find some more interesting sorceries for the coming bosses.

Not much to say about this fight, it's not very complex. But it was fun trying to manouvre myself into the Terra Magica as much as possible.

Turns out sorcery is OP even for RL1. I wanted to get the kill before his phase transition, but there's quite a bit of damage missing. You definitely need another talisman slot, which I didn't feel like getting now.

Finally! This was the last boss of RL1 0. If you ever go for a stance break build against Malenia, Black Flame Ritual is just insane. I usually go very aggressive at the start of phase one, because even if I get hit it's worth it if it means I get the stance breaks faster. Status effects can really carry a 0 run. It kind of helps that Mohg seems to be weak to everything, especially bleed. In an earlier attempt I tried and got close to skipping NIHIL completely. I wonder if it's possible at 0 - I feel it has to be.

This is by no means the best 0 setup against Hoarah Loux, but it was a fun challenge to make it work. Added in some ice in second phase to cut down the duration. Took more attempts than I thought, because I kept being too aggressive and dying in the second phase. Learned that you have to wait for some attacks to go in. At first I tried to focus mostly on rot and bleed, but I wasn't really getting anywhere since he has so high resistances across the board. Then I remembered I have Black Flame Tornado and by some stroke of luck I managed to get it first try after switching strategy.

I honestly think these could be an OK fight if the poison attack was toned down a bit. The idea of a duo fight where one is active and one is passive but you still have to track both is not bad. How did you have access to rotten breath and effectively use dragon halberd at rl1?

I swear watching these videos online peoplemake these bosses look so easy, then I go through another playthrough and the boss does the most random fastest moves each time and I cant get any rhythm, great play btw, I was doing a star fist and dragon halberd run, and was doing great till I got to maliketh and had to switch to bloodhound fang and bloodflame, star fist kept missing him and the halberd was too slow for me
That is so cool, i never thought that you can beat the game on RL1 with incantations only, i was barely able to complete the game on RL1 with two halberds jump attack bleed/freeze build, or katana for faster enemies. Now i know what i will do after i finish shadow of the erdtree dlc

i just used this for my rl1 no upgrade run and it worked PERFECTLY. the hardest part for me was actually not killing noble in 2 casts so i could get the scripted 2 cycle. my solution was to replace ritual sword with ritual shield to make things easier, thank u for posting this🙏
under level fights are more enjoyable

no disrepect but why not just use comet, if the slicer is boring why not try the comet that shit does like 900 damage on my character to bosses
I don't think it's possible to use Comet at RL1. You can get +10 from physick, +10 form talismans, +6 from headgear, +5 from godrick's great rune and +5 from grafted blade greatsword. Still 6 points missing.
Dude, it's an RL1 run! So you can't have lots of int, that's why status effects are king. Glintstone Icecrag is FAR better for a RL1 run than comet bc of the frostbite. Maybe learn the mechanics before you critizise.

But what you didn't see was the 150 times I died first
Blood Antspur Rapier for phase 1, Pulley Crossbow with Rotbone bolts and Burred bolts for phase 2. The DPS was there but survivability was the issue for me. Took me over 80 tries and a lot of runes for the consumables but finally my RL1 +0, no Melina character is ready for the DLC. Here's to hoping Fromsoft doesn't require me to have Torrent! Without the horse I had to do Mohg legit, so reward me please!

The first minute or so is all about proccing rot. Since Placi has quite high resistances I found it better to focus on one at a time. I do hit him a few times while repositioning, but it's because I didn't really have anything better to do. But after rot is procced I do two-hand them.

Combine a bleed weapon and rot grease probably. It looks similar but is faster, and anything that can cut down time in phase two is good. I think one frost pot can freeze him too, so if you use that in some opening in phase 2 that's a good damage boost.

@@David-qe2gs I think one trick is to use Ritual Shield Talisman and damage reduction tear - then even end game bosses will not one-shot you. So even if you make a mistake, you can continue trying. Very useful for learning second phases.

Brace yourself. The other reply is 100% correct, but hear me out. For scrubs like me who can't be bothered with the Haligtree or Godrick's great rune, it's still possible to get 35 Fai via the Grafted Blade greatsword (+5 to all). You just need 27 Str to two-hand that bastard. So, here's your loadout: Talismans: Radagon's SOREseal, Marika's SCARseal (Siofra river), Two fingers hierloom, Starscourge hierloom Physick: Strength/Faith. All of this gets your Fai to 30. Ancient Dragon's lightning strike territory. With Oath of Vengeance, you're up to 35. Welcome to Howl of Shabriri! Throw in Imp head (corpse) for another +2 Fai, for some extra cheddar and you're GOLD, son!

I killed the one behind the church of irith over and over again. I think it only took about 15 minutes, but I might have been lucky with the drop.

Thank you!! This was brilliant. My normal parry/misericorde method was way too tedious and error prone for no upgraded weapons. I tried another "fully scripted" strat with uchi and sleep/rot pots, but too complex and too long to perfect. Then tried this. After getting all needed items, it still took about an hour of practice to succeed, but done. Happy to move on! Thanks again

This boss needs triple health and double poise, and his hitboxes need to be way bigger so running into his legs isn't a sure way to avoid 85% of his attacks anymore.

I can relate to that. I was quite annoyed when I realized none worked. I think the coolest part of the run is how different the setup is. I definitely prefer melee for the boss fights though. It's tricky to work any kind of variety into the fights, because the controls are not optimized for quickly switching spells.

Yeah it's really easy to get trolled by elden stars! In theory it's avoidable with correct positioning but combination with other attacks can feel really unfair sometimes. Good luck!
