Not sure if your hubby or you are music people, but those speakers are incredible. Very expensive. You should try them once and the get rid of them. House looks amazing.

You can replace the track curtains with new track curtains from IKEA. I think you should keep the wood cabinets the same but swap out the handles for something more your style. And would you consider extending the new hardwood to the dining area and kitchen? I think that would look nice and create cohesion

2ft Beige terrazzo square tiles, trust me! Through the dining room and kitchen. In the kitchen: 2x8 white subway tile lined up vertically. Please don’t touch the cabinets!!!! Change the hardware to silver arch wire cabinet pulls.

Personally I would only use tile on the floor if I lived in a place with mild winters and hot summers. In a place with cold winters I'd go for hardwood floors.

I would leave everything (except the curtains and track lights) deep clean it all - and consider a different paint color. The white is so stark and you can update that beautiful home with minimal expense.

I love 70s architecture and that house is AMAZING! I wouldn't change a whole lot, but you can restain the wood in the kitchen and throughout the house to something that is more your taste. I prefer a closed-off kitchen. I have an open floorplan now and a messy kitchen is visible anywhere in the house. This house has so much character that simply isn't present in modern builds. I can imagine having a glass of wine in that hot tub during the winter.....

Oh gosh this house has such character! I love it. I really hope you keep the majority of the wood and really lean into the time period of the home. Very cool. I would take the command center out to open to the other side. Love Love Love the light from above and the high ceilings throughout the house. I think so much of the current architecture is so boring and low quality. This house has character and quality! I used to have a home with high ceilings and we tiled the floors. This was actually a huge regret. It made it very cold and echoey. I recommend real hardwood throughout the whole house aside from the bathrooms. It will warm things up, be nice quality, and reduce the echo.

If you change anything, hire a designer! The kitchen especially would be so tricky to alter the layout without it feeling strange, and you absolutely want to keep those solid wood cabinets even if you refinish them to a different color. I do agree on swapping out the blue tile, and maybe swapping the countertops for something darker or in a warmer tone to match whatever wood finish you decide on. If you did open the kitchen, I wouldn't fully open it up, but maybe take down the top cabinets or open them into shelves on one side only. But work with a designer who is familiar with this style and can work with the distinctive architecture to help it feel like part of the original home. Watch Fixer Upper Season 2 Episode 9 for some general inspiration (although I still wouldn't open the kitchen quite that much, they had a view that needed it).

Somehow this house is vintage and modern at the same time. Love it!!

I had to stop my run on the treadmill to let you know about infloor hot tubs. We had one in our new home and it was also sunk in. The porch might have been designed around it like ours was so getting it out had to be done in pieces (like sawed in quaters). A big job and took some time. Let me know if youd like advice or solidarity. We removed ours by ourselves. It can be a hassle but maybe worrh getting the floor space back. I have before and after photos too.

The house is lovely. I'll echo everyone else and say keep the kitchen closed, keep the cabinets, and get a steam cleaner for the tile. I also really like the blue backsplash and I think the counters are fine, but I'm not seeing the counters up close of course so those might want to be replaced. The only things I'd do right away are remove the carpet, and either put in hardwood (or vinyl plank for cost reasons), put some can lights in the ceilings, and get a wooden box built around the pole to match the rest of the wood there. You have so much space, and light, and nature - I think it is the perfect house for your family and you will be very zen and peaceful there. You found a very special house!

Congratulations on finding your home! All the trees, windows, and wood throughout the home are so beautiful. When you first expressed concern about the entry tile I could understanding and then the kitchen BUT it all seamlessly flows together. I would be very reserved about changing things because of the continuity of flow. Perhaps clean the tile and grout and seal and with your minimalist "things" make it your own. Just beautiful Marisa! LOVE Love the sunporch & the overall brightness. You found a gem. All cabinets I would white-wash to tone-down all that dark wood. The kitchen backsplash, I agree, must go. The tile floors is a keep. Once in a while a brush-mop will help clean but you’d be amazed that it stays clean. Absolutely wonderful home.

Love the kitchen's wood features (maybe change just the backsplash?) but wow, the sun porch truly reminded me of a beautiful Japanese home with stunning views of the forest. It's breathtaking! So much beauty, function and good potentials in your new home and we're so happy for you. Really felt the wait was worth it. ❤

Oooooooh I LOVE your new house. I am partial to mid-century architecture (although we live in an 1894 victorian lol). For the hall/dining room, I would continue the wood floor so it's seamless with the sunken living room (in other words, no tile - do a wood floor instead). For the kitchen, I would definitely leave the 3/4 wall because it's an original architectural detail - I kind of love it. The cabinets look to be in very good shape - I would probably just either paint them or try to lighten them up by sanding and restaining - or even keep them the way they are (I actually love the color and it matches the rest of the wood). The house looks to be in such good shape and it's so open and light. Congratulations!!!

The bones of this place are sooooooo good! I'd keep the kitchen cabinets and tone them a lighter color. Get rid of that countertop and put in a full double sink. Normally I'd say paint the cabinets but there's so much character in this house I think I'd kept in this case! I'd probably keep the back section in place; the kids could maybe do their homework there! The bones are just so cool, I wouldn't change much.

I would keep those kitchen cabinets. Solid wood cabinets are a treasure. I think, strip and refinish them or paint them and spend the money on the counter tops.

You want to keep the kitchen as a den? I would remove the whole wall. It makes so close the whole beautiful kitchen/diner area much little. 😢 I would 100% open it!!!! ❤
