Nobody is a Real Libertarian
Doug Stuart is joined by guests Alex Bernardo and Cody Cook for an engaging conversation that spans the spectrum of libertarian electoral strategies, internal divides within the movement, and how libertarians can effectively communicate their message to diverse audiences.
Alex Bernardo elucidates the reasoning behind libertarian support for specific candidates, drawing attention to the significance of state electoral votes and strategic voting. Using Kentucky as an example, he discusses why a vote for Thomas Massie may be more impactful than a throwaway presidential vote. He also touches on the potential of third-party candidates to reshape the political landscape. Drawing from Apostle Paul's approach to evangelism, Alex underscores the necessity of tailoring libertarian messaging to different groups.
Cody Cook weighs in on the concept of voting for the "least painful" candidate and voices concerns about focusing too narrowly on individual platform aspects. The dialogue explores "respectability politics" and the importance of libertarians maintaining respectful yet substantive conversations across splits within the movement.
A notable segment of the episode includes a discussion about Alex inviting Zach Weisszmuller and Jeremy Kaufman to voice their perspectives on the Mises Caucus and the broader libertarian movement. Alex and Cody engage in a candid back-and-forth about political, stylistic, and strategic differences, as well as the cultural divide.
Race and ideology also come under the microscope, with Alex reading from Hans Hermann Hoppe to highlight right-libertarian views on egalitarianism versus left-libertarian policy focuses. Cody fears the implications of self-segregation and advocates for a color-blind philosophy rooted in individuality.
This conversation covers contentious issues like open borders, the potential for the libertarian movement to align with traditional conservative figures, and the perils of anti-intellectual populism. The episode examines both radical and mainstream outreach strategies, analyzing their effectiveness in growing the libertarian base.

The reason google has that much power is not because the government gave it to them.. it's because they took over the whole market through largely legal and "fair" means. And to be honest a lot of it benefited consumers, google has generated a ton of innovation and wealth. But it is also true that power consolidates with large companies as a natural function of the market (as economies of scale and winner take all markets play out, plus probably some outright anticompetitive behavior) and that's probably not a good thing

"We have all the tools necessary to continue building." Couldn't disagree more. Vanishingly few people today rise to the intellectual level that was, in contrast, far more common in the time of the founding fathers. Hence, in general, those today who are so arrogant as to pass judgement on achievements they cannot even aspire to, are the ones who feel qualified to alter or reject the wisdom of the past. We don't have the tools or the humility.

Open borders is a big reason why Libertarians are not electable. Everyday another European country is reporting the problem associated with out-of-control migration. Germany today announced an agreement with the Taliban to take back the Afghan migrants. DEI and reparations are two areas where folks would claim Libertarians are racist because most do not support either. California Democrats are trying to crap on working class Americans by providing no down payment mortgage loans for illegal migrants, while anyone that can is leaving California for Texas and other red states. I don't see where Libertarians can add any value to the current issues facing the Western world at this time. Half the country can no longer pay their bills without credit cards. What's the Chas Oliver solution to inflation? Trump sucks but not as much as Kamala who wants to be elected to solve the problems Biden / Harris created.

  • @SonOfTheLion

The old "the paleos were racist" canard. Everything you said Rockwell said is true. Chase Oliver is utterly incapable of pushing back on the left's advance. That is why libertarians are voting Trump. The idea that trans-ing kids is an open question is insane and shows the hopelessness of Cody's kind of libertarianism.

America is a nation founded by Christian forefathers. It is not a Christian theocracy, per se, as is Vatican City, for example. The Constitution simultaneously provides for freedom of religion so long as it does not infringe on the basic rights of others and ensures the separation of church and state in its execution.

Christianity has been going downhill since it became government around the time of Constantine. The New Testament clearly teaches that Christianity is about a healthy relationship between the individual human being and God. Sure, help someone if you happen to be in a position to help, like the good Samaritan. Otherwise, Christians should not be involved with the "nations", the "nations" are none of their individual business. Calling the US a Christian nation should be an insult to Christians, but most so-called Christians are goddamn charlatans like everybody else.

This scenerio did play out during the guiled age where America had one rope manufacturer left and the company fell apart. The Geneva Bible founded America. It was at the signing of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Known as the Bible of the Protestant reformation. Which means to protest the Catholic faith. Freedom of Religion in the Constitution is not Plural. They did not want any one sect of Protestantism to reign over America. The Colonialist fought Catholicism, King Jamesism and Islam in a very short time span. The 1st act Congress signed was Sep 12,1782 to print the Aitkens Bible based off a 1599 Geneva with no Apocrypha. There are 5 left in existence. King James made his Bible in 1611 because he hated the 1560 Geneva which showed obedience to God and disobedience to Kings on earth in the marginal notes and changed words in scripture so not to be compared to them. Such as Tyrant. James killed many Christians who did not believe in his bloodline to reign the earth and was divorced because he was caught having affairs with men. We fought Islam during Jefferson reign. Our Marine Corps battle hymn verse ..From the Halls of Montezumah to the shores of Tripoli. The Barbary Coast war started due to Islamics doing as their told via the Quran Hadith and Sira attacked our trade ships, beheaded all the men and took the women and children as sex slaves the rest of their lives. Nothing has changed with their pedo who the worship Mohammed. He at 51 married a 6yr old and consummated the marriage when he turned 54 and she was 9. They still practice this today !
