Probably the best ever British vent. I was lucky enough to back him (in a posh London hotel cabaret) back in my 1980's gigging days. A brilliant act and a lovely man! Sadly missed.

I don't know if Ray Allen was the best ventriloquist, but he was definitely the FUNNIEST. Lord Charles always had me in stitches.

I was on holiday on the Isle of Man with my parents and siblings at Easter 1964 when we saw Caroline North anchor off Ramsey. When we arrived back home in Liverpool the radio was always tuned to Caroline as it was the go to station to listen to.I’m glad that I lived through those days as the 60’s were a magical time to be alive.

Ray alan was brilliant, I watch him froma very early and even now aged 63, I still class him as the benchmark.

Ray Allan was a genius. It’s not just that you didn’t see his lips move, he was effortless. No sign at all of any vocal movements or facial strain.

Ray Allen was a master of his craft in the days of good Vent acts..I also remember Terry Hall with Lenny the Lion...not quite as good as Ray...but entertaining nevertheless...there was also another performer whose name escapes me...Arthur somebody with his doll...who always made me laugh.. Great days

I actually remember this, I was listening to this from my bedroom in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough. I actually got my Mum & Dad to call the police and I remember them arriving and listening to the SOS messages from a small transistor radio I had turned up to full volume in the Hall. Seem to remember them contacting the coast guard and then disappearing. I taped hours and hours of their transmissions, sure they are in the loft somewhere 🤣🤣🤣
