Naval Officer by day, Country by the grace of God. I am an extroverted engineer with an undergraduate degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a masters degree in Total Ship Systems Engineering.
In my day job, I am an Engineering Duty Officer, where I work in the fields of new ship construction. (LHA, DDG, DDG 1000, EPF, LCS, APL, T-AGS)
On the side, I run a few sawmills and produce a clean family friendly CZcams channel. My goal is to provide useful information about sawmills, sawing logs, testing blades, tractors and life on our various farms. I have owned 8 sawmills and love working on projects from the logs that I cut.
My amazing wife and I have 4 awesome kids who keep us busy.
We are big fans of farm life, hunting, fishing, camping and the Homesteading lifestyle.

Some people may say, "You can't do that. " To them, I'll say, "I'll do as I please," and carry on about my way. This is our forever farm, and we are rebuilding it the way we want to.

This was a great visit, and notice how Mr. Brian turns the logs to expose the clean face as he is cutting. Very cool technique that I don't see too many folks outside of Baker and Cooks utilize.

That is a rattle snake hybrid it was born with no rattle, rare but it happens
DO NOT BUY MADE IN CHINA!!!!! After a year parts are falling off due to not tightened right at the factory. JD uses Kubota tranny now. Height limiter on the 60" belly mower will wear out due to cheap extruded aluminum. My 2005 JD 2210 was built MUCH better and lasted 18 years. This one is a little over a year old and falling apart. JD does NOT care and will not warranty anything past 1 year.
Incredible! I gained so much knowledge from this video. It's fascinating to see the process of managing such huge logs. The quality of the video is excellent. I can't wait to see more of your content. Keep producing such high-quality content!
😂😂😂😂
Hi, Nice explanation. A big consideration is the timber and the 'set' on the blade. Assuming the blade is sharp, Green wood tends to 'tear' slightly some timbers Poplar, Willow etc are very soft and do leave a lot of fibres. Blades tend to be made to cope with 'anything' so will have 'maximum set' dry timber cuts with far less tendency to 'tear' as it is 'harder' so a blade with reduces set will cut well without binding. Look at a 'commercial' band mill' the blade is not 1" wide more like 6" to 12" so the cut stabilises the blade whilst the '1" blade is not guided so well so will wander particularly is the feed is too great, folks tend to forget the cutting rate is dependent on several factors, one very important one is the volume of the gullet...when it is full of sawdust it holds the blade off the cutting face, until it can empty, so a wide log will cut much slower as the gullets limit the cut rate, so you need to 'feel' the resistance to the feed to stop 'overfeed'. Lastly consider the amount of wood you are removing, a large set means you are removing a lot of timber, that takes energy, makes more sawdust, and slows the cut rate ( feet/min)
Change the oil take the loader off more room to work on it... or use the loader as a jack...hmm loader still on it
I’m a sharpener in East Tennessee
good video you have lots of work a head. take care, be safe and well.
Hey good fucking job looks great
Enjoyed the hike and the views it presented ... thanks Thomas .
Can I get the link for it
If this thing is really $60.000, that is ridiculously way over priced
got the actuator - forgot the gasket... wonder if I can use the original...? or if any auto part store has it?
Awesome snakes. Technically venomous but completely harmless to mamals. They're one of the snakes my 5 year old can safely handle before releasing.
REDNECK SNAKE! I like it
This is the best video I've seen for identifying these trees by walking through the woods. Thank you so much!
Is that driveway as steep as it looks on video?
W job bro
Cool great work 👍 💪
He needs to investigate the many specialty wood users mentioned in the comments. Other sawyers watching this video should also take note of how to upgrade "waste" for big profit.
This worked great thank you for video and the recommendation of putting truck on a slope that worked awesome the OEM part they quoted me 558 I picked one up off Amazon for 91
Hi Thomas, My 2520 has 130 hrs. My blade just started jumping off the wheel now as we speak, I was told that the wheel "BELT" normally requires replacement around 150-200 hrs. How often do you change yours ? It appears a bit too soon to me but what do I know. This mill has done me well with all the construction projects I have so cant complain at all. More project to come
Make sure you are detentioning your blade when not in use. I always keep spare belts around just in case. I run a B57 just because they are easier to install. My belts usually last 150 to 200 hrs but sometimes less depending on species I'm cutting a lot of. Did your blade come off the front or the back of the wheels? Also if the belts are completely flat you may need to change them out. There needs to be a crown on the belts if the crown is completely gone I recommend swapping it out.
@@TCSawmills I do drop the pressure to 300 on storage. what is a B57 ?
behind walls and under floors you can use paint mixed with seven dust that will keep the bug away.
Any suggestions for repair my front bumper
Can you make video about how to fix your sawmill going up words as you cut
Knew there would be some EPIC figurals in that log!
It's a nice mill but I don't think that he has inspected and/or watched a Mahoe Supermill.
I was wondering if you check back to see if anyone had questions. I have a joystick that is messed up. Just wondering, where to get the parts and if I look it up what do I ask for? If you coukd put the answer to these question to this comment, I'll be checking back. Thanks.
My 1025R is an awesome workhorse. I’m sure I stress it well beyond it’s specs. I also use it to haul logs out of the bush many 20 inch plus and it’s small enough to get into tight spaces I have almost 700 hours and only significant maintenance has been a battery change. Works great on my 40 acres
Love the strict safety code. No hard hats, no heavy work gloves, no eye protection no steel tipped work boots. They probably have a iron clad work disability policy. Yep when a worker gets a arm cut off they give him a cup to beg for money.
take the sliding doors off the tracks. I do it all the time to get big items in n out
Check with your neighbors. I bet someone has a bottle of Chlordane. It'll kill bugs for years if oil based
Awesome job, it looks like you're having a lot of fun. Make sure you treat the ground for those termites.
Ground treated and everything I take out I add more. Also house is under a termite plan now.
Not having to deal with building codes can be a blessing or a curse. One can only hope that all of the termites have been found and repaired.
Yes, it's definitely added more time to my repairs, but we have the house under a termite contract and it has been treated heavily. I also continue to add additional treatments.
Im so inspired by you. You keep getting it done Thomas. Say hi to everyone for me.
good effort, plan plan plan, easy romove whole slider to get old big shower out, sell ur dads nice saw, this great family coming togehter most what ilike to see, go family team,

Common Sense would tell you to use fencing with smaller openings. Duh
WOOF!
Holy f@#$! 😮
I've also seen that on cedar that I've milled. Cool looking. Cedar is kind of brittle, especially nailing into end grain. I usually pre-drill cedar.
Congratulations on your move home. Say hi to everyone for me
Beautiful place.
