With a few snowfalls since opening, the mountain has been transformed with nice skiing now and more snow to come. Recommend taking a look at the Mt Hutt Webcams. Hope your daughter enjoys the skiing and her study in Christchurch.

It is roughly 5km each way and took about 1.5 hours each way with plenty of photo stops.

The snow was sparse when I filmed that and they sadly were the only runs with a lot of rock avoidance required. Check out the later videos from this season for the steeper stuff.

Fridays and Weekends in August, the top car park tends to fill up by 7:45am. Rest of the week days are a bit more relaxed unless it is a powder day. I like to get up early, get my gear on then relax over a coffee before lining up for the lifts. Enjoy your day at Mt Hutt. The snow is fantastic at the moment and the crowds start dialling back now the further we get into spring. Regards Scott

You're right. Got focused on the vertical metres instead of the actual distance. Both options are nice runs.

Dropped off the road on subsequent runs. The snow was very nice. Counting down to next season.

I have been skiing Mt Hutt for the last 10 years with my daughters and rate it. Plenty of variability of slopes and has been great to watch them develop into competent skiers. Also easier to be catching chairlifts rather than T-Bars or Rope Tows.

@@scottybsactiveinterests6807 Thanks for the reply. I'm in my 50's and weigh 120kg so the chair is a nice rest between runs and allows the quad burn to subside!!! We'll look for some early bird specials and lock in Mt Hutt for August. Thanks again.

@@iain1969 Depending on how many days you think you will ski, check out the multi-day pass which you can use across the whole season and can be a good option compared to buying a season pass. Being of similar age and weight, the chairlift is always a nice chance to get a breather before the next run! I enjoy skiing with my daughters and know every time that if am paying, they are always going! Enjoy the mountain.

I was missing the one I can keep up with. The others were too bloody fast!
