This is far from a lifetime product as the video implies. The thumb control is one of the weak points. It gets so stiff after 2 years that it is impossible to move. It will take less time the harder your water is. The good news is that it can be fixed by disassembling the front part. Remove the center screw. Then you have 2 more screws inside. You remove those screws and remove the inner part. That gives you access to the ball valve so you can lube it with silicone grease (this is the only lube to use. The grease will last anywhere from a month to 6 months depending on usage and how hard your water is. But this leads me to the 2nd weak point. Those 2 screws on the inside are not stainless steel and corrode very easily. They are proprietary and not easily bought to replace. This, after maybe 2 years, you will never be able to remove them to service the nozzle and the nozzle becomes trash. It is actually because of these screws not being stainless steel or easily sourced that makes this just another disposable nozzle. It is merely made to look like a lifetime product, but it's just another disposable product.

My pool becomes extremely cloudy for two days when I have to increase my alkalinity and pH, is that normal?

I would not buy again. While it has some nice features, unwanted discharge of material on to lawn due to poor gate design makes it unusable. Echo suggests cleaning but that is not the cause. I keep clean as recommended but granular material easily jambs the gate open.

I got 1 more pro tip. Don't waste your money on algacide. Just get a small bucket 1 gallon. Fill it with your pool water. Add about 1/4 cups or less (depending on the size of your pool) of dawn platinum. Mix thoroughly. Add the mic to you pool about 1/3 gallons at a time. As to assure you didn't add too much dawn that it will foam.

what kind of pool do you have? i stumbled across you page and was curious what are your thoughts on a above ground pools that is not level with a wrinkled bottom. it is my first year setting up an at home above ground pool. I will do a better job prepping next year. at this point i just want to get the pool filled so the kids can enjoy it.

What shock do I get? I have the baking soda, clear balance & chlorine tabs but now alkalinity is too high & my ph is too high so I put in some Clorox ph down. How do I get it down. Ph is 7.8-8.4 & alkaline is 180

hey bud, alkalinity IS pH. pH measures hydrogen ions to determine how acidic or, wait for it, alkaline something is. which is why if your pH is high(pool terms high) then alkalinity is also high.

If the blade is not bent or air veins not worn off you can sharpen it anyway you like as long as it balances. I speak from 40 years experience in the power equipment business.

Can you please add a list of all products needed to keep a pool clean? I just bought a pool for my daughter and have no idea what I am doing. From what I’m learning I need: 1) baking soda 2) chlorine tabs 3) granular shock 4) test strips ( what are the ranges needed for both alkalinity and ph) What is the difference between 3) and 4)? Are both needed or only one?

My pool was like yours I through shock in it about 4 gallons one day then another 4 left it for a day or two and the pool got really cloudy. I test strip it and my reading: total hardness = 120, total chlorine =1, free chlorine =0, Bromine =0, total Alkalinity =80, cyanuric acid = 0, PH = 7.6 Another guy on you told says if you have normal or low chlorine and Ph is 7.6 its microscopic add another 4 gals of shock. Sorry for the burden my sons' friends want to get into the pool.

I have some handicap and the last several years have paid a mobile service to service my lawn mower and change blades. The guy I had been using ruined a set of blades about every year with an angle grinder. I hired a different service, the guy that came out and was using a jig from Amazon; Lawn Mower Blade Sharpener 15°-45° Adjustable Frame with Ball Bearing Manufacture Handle for Right & Left Hand Blades, Use with Angle Grinder - available from Amazon for about $65. He took about a minute to get an almost perfect edge on the blades without taking an excess amount. With that tool guide I would imagine a set of blades will last several years.
