My piano is old. It's slightly out of tune. It was given to me for free and I brought it back to life. I record these videos with my phone in my hand, sometimes the video is shaky although I do have a tripod now. If you don't like it, don't listen - don't watch. I've decided to upload videos of songs / rolls that are fun and great to hear. Others I haven't seen or can't find anywhere else online. These are great songs and pieces of history. Thanks for watching if you've chosen to do so!
Also, since my channel seems to be growing, and I'm reaching more people, I would consider trading some of my rolls. I'll cut to the chase, I'm interested in Confrey on QRS and Rudy Germain on Vocalstyle. I have about 100 blues, rags, and odd title rolls most of which I would part with for trade. Email me if interested at skgwgaietto@gmail.com

Pacific Coast Blues - QRS 1991 played by J. Russel Robinson
I think I say this every time I post a JRR roll, but he feels kinda left out to me at times. I feel like he's easily shadowed by JPJ and Waller, performance wise, also Wendling and Cook because they recorded so many rolls. I don't have as many solo JRR rolls as I thought I did. This one doesn't disappoint. I hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching.

Sometimes I look at a roll number and think 'in 1922, did they wonder about the year 2006?' Here we are, 102 years later and this roll is still here and now on CZcams. I wonder where it will be in 2126? I don't think I'll be here... I also like the lyrics about a wireless phone.. It seems today we use our phones for everything EXCEPT talking. I hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching

This was actually the first time I played this roll. It has a little more damage than I realized. It plays ok tho, seems a bit sluggish and some tempo issues at time. I hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching.

I posted this one a while go, before the tripod I believe. To me, this is one of the hottest rolls you've never heard of. I love this song. I've only ever seen one other copy in the 10 years I've had this one. Also on the rarity scale, this is the only time I've ever seen an original paper seal from when the roll was new. At least I assume that is what this strip of paper is as I have nothing t...

This is the same as the Symphony roll I posted. I played this one a little faster than the Symphony video. One of my favorite versions of this song is by Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. I hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching.

This is one of my favorite Dean Martin songs. This arrangement is a bit different from his, but it's still a great song. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Thanks for watching.

Very nice! Glad to hear JRR outside the Original Dixieland Jass Band, what probably never happened to me before! Many thanks as always.
Two helpings of Apple Sauce in a week. Good for the soul!
👏👏👏👏👏
Very good from start to finish.
Love this song!! I won't be here..probably gone long before 2116, but I sure HOPE CZcams is still here or that people DO save the songs all of us put on here for future generations.
Thank you! :) I agree 100%! I've had a lot of fun doing this and made some great friends along the way too.
Nice. A song I've never heard of before.
This is tops! 👌
Beautifull, thanks for posting👍🏻
Yet another gem from the past!
I don't know if I've ever heard a roll performed with such a perfect tempo that was also perfectly controlled from start to finish!!
What... c'mon now..... Wait'll you hear the International roll. I think I bombed that one.... But thank you! And thanks for watching!
👏👏👏👏👏
Haha, excellent.
I love those little quivers! What a fun song!!!
Maybe you already know this, but the technical term for those quivers is "trills"! Also, remember we were talking about tango rhythm? Well, this song does use a real tango rhythm, for most of the chorus starting at about 2:30. It's the bass pattern. Just thought you might enjoy those 2 tidbits.
@rowanbelt3612 And enjoy them I did 😉
I asked my great friend who was in his 80's in the 1980's when I got this roll, what "Apple Sauce" meant. He said that was a silent movie word for Bull$hit.
There is a mention of that word from mother Jefferson in the series The Jefferson’s when George is trying to pull off a stunt that he was born in a log cabin for a reporter. She’s responds Apple Sauce , George , Apple Sauce. You were born in a hospital here in town .
If you spell "Apple Sauce" with just the A's you get AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
what kind of genre is this?
i can literally hear the lyrics
3:32 - 3:43 is such an incredibly groovy rhythmic moment...!!
👏👏👏👏👏
That Katharina sure seems to make the rounds with certain friends I have. 😅
What a surprise! I've had that roll before and ignored it. Thank you again for bringing these gems back to life for all of us to enjoy.
The name of this song could equally be applied to your piano.
Yours too :)
Grand, much obliged.
Very enjoyable rendition
Hottest roll you've never heard of...no kidding!! As I was listening with that description in mind, I kept thinking that there must be a one step ending...and I was not disappointed! Thanks for sharing this one!!
This is one of my absolute favorite rolls. I've only ever heard it on a piano roll too. If any other recording exists I'd love to hear it! Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
Boy did I need to hear that song ty
Speaking of rare rolls, I've just come across some VERY old QRS rolls. The labels are small and rectangular and they say 88 note with a very small "QRS and Co" at the bottom. I'm wondering if you have any like this?
I have a few. Not sure where they are or what songs they would be.
👏👏👏👏👏
If I were your neighbor, I would have a window open and would ask you to have one open too, just so I could hear whatever random and wonderful music you're playing on that fantastic piano of yours. It's a blessing :)
Wow! Hot stride version in the style of Fats Waller. I'm adding this roll to my wish list!
Wow! What a fantastic arrangement of an old, basic childhood song!
It is more than a basic childhood song, it is a piece of American history.
This song has never sounded better on any piano anywhere!!!
@@SevenPlus65 Agreed!
"We will kill the old red rooster, we will kill the old red rooster, and we'll all have chicken and dumplings when she comes"? I don't think I have ever heard such lyrics before. Awesome arrangement btw, the best I've heard yet!
A great old standard... 👍

:) thank you for watching as always my friend
@@Skgwgaietto Many thanks for sharing my friend
It's the most hilarious moment when I sing along and find the lyrics cease to match the music///
This is an epitone of what a piano roll should sound like. Obviously not a JLC roll. Again, IMHO 🤣
And Yes, I just threw that in there to get everybody's goat. 🤣🤣
Great arrangement - it seems to bridge the earlier style with tremolo melody in the middle reguster + high figurations, with a more modern style. Thanks!!
Hey, just wondering, so I plan to buy a player piano but how do I know which rolls would be compatible
I guess that would depend on the player you intend to buy. A "regular" piano would play standard 88 note rolls and most expression rolls. If you're looking at something more upscale or fancy like an Ampico or a DuoArt, then ideally, you would want to use the rolls made for those pianos but they would also play standard 88 note rolls. I can't imagine you're looking at a 65 note player, but if you are, those require specific rolls. In short, I guess I'd say the rolls you see on most videos online are regular old player pianos that play the common rolls that are for sale everywhere.I hope this helps! Thanks for watching, and thanks for asking.
I agree this is a very good roll. I think the mix of swing and straight eighths plus your lively tempo really help. I do like that Vocalstyle rolls have very easily visible lyrics. Thanks for telling me about this one!
Great stuff!
