A lot of women will say “don’t give wife benefits to boyfriends” but will go on to say their boyfriend or not even their boyfriend just some guy they are seeing, to pay all of their bills and give them an extra $5000 a month for doing absolutely nothing. I’m not saying a guy shouldn’t pay if he asks you out on a nice date but the excess and thinking that you don’t owe even being nice to a guy is a fair deal. Any healthy relationship whether it’s platonic or romantic requires give and take on both sides. My aunt is a stay at home wife and her husband had a very well paying job (he’s retired now) and she was the one who kept the house nice. I have even heard some women say they want a maid and a nanny and an extra $10k a month from their husband to spend on extra stuff. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with wanting a comfortable life but there needs to a balance and it’s unrealistic and really selfish to think your husband is gonna let you go to the spa every day and on vacations to Europe. I do pretty good and come from an upwardly mobile background and I don’t know anyone from my town who lives a 24/7 luxury life

There was a Reddit post that went semi viral. Basically it was a guy asking for advice on how to deal with his girlfriend who told him “you’re not someone I’d wanna hook up with but marry” of course I’d imagine she meant well but often times we as women will say things we think sound good but really don’t.

I would show my grandma a lot of the videos on women who said how much a guy needs to make. She was old money and she said these women sound cheap. When you are around people with money there is a certain decorum and etiquette you need to “act natural” even men with money if they are quality are offended when a woman who clearly has nothing is only interested in his pockets

I cannot stand the way women are transactional with their relationships. One thing my grandma taught me she was from Long Island is to not be overconsumed with money. Of course she didn’t say to not care but she was someone from an upper middle class family and my grandpa was from a farm town in upstate New York in a town with less than 500 people and she didn’t care that he wasn’t from the Hamptons or New York City and they were married for 50 years.

Decentering men has done my mental health really good. I am someone who would like to be married one day or even have a relationship where the both of us are satisfied. It doesn’t mean I hate men at all but I no longer am going to put in the effort if a guy doesn’t put in any effort for me or I’m just an afterthought. I still would like a husband and have a relationship where both of us are fulfilled in all areas though. I’m not someone though who just hates men or think a guy should pay dubious amounts of money on me up front.

The fact that this guy had a mortgage for a home he bought showed he’s responsible. In 5 years I would like to buy a home a nice little townhouse with a garage in a safe area and I’ve been looking for ways to prepare myself for that and you need a lot of things in order to buy a home in the first place.
