I would add that the much more difficult thing these days than storage, it's actually the connectivity and how you transfer the data, and keep it in sync. I use rclone to sync from NAS to cloud, both gPhotos and pCloud. For phones, they sync to gPhotos and to home NAS using Resilio Sync. Cloud and local are crazy cheap now. I have a 8x12TB with 2 parity drives, 60TB usable. For $100/year I have 2TB of gPhotos, which is just phones, and I bought the 10TB "lifetime plan" on pCloud for $1200 back in 2022.

Hello, I have seen several of your videos about the Minolta 9Xi and other Minolta cameras and I really liked them. I am a Minoltas collector and have most of the cameras from the SRL 7 to the Dinax 7 as well as the 6 Mp 7d. Like the X-700 and the 7Xi, the 700Si was chosen at the time as the camera of the year, but unlike the others and despite being a very capable camera on paper, the 700Si has a design error. The plastic of the grip breaks, after a few years the material breaks in the same place, apparently as it ages it does not withstand certain stresses produced in its design. I bought three and the same thing happened to all three and in the same place. Surely the plastic aged poorly due to the place where they were kept but it cannot be a coincidence that they broke in that same place. I treat my cameras very well and they broke while in the box. The one that has no problems is the 800Si and I recommend it.

Did you try writing tokina or angenieux if they Are the same or not? They would probably answer you, since they Are so old. Mine is minolta Mount or Sony a Mount if you like, and its pretty sharp ar 2,8. Also on my Sony a7iii with adapter.

I got a 159 MMT back then (1984). I exhausted my (student) camera money buying it. Maybe my student food money too, actually. I could not afford the MMT Zeiss Macron lens, so I got normal Zeiss Macro lens. Using it caused the MMT to need a repair.

I have the S2 and the Aria... I love the 35mm and the 28mm - the RX is too big for me.

I have an Ursa12k with S35 and a Takumar 28mm lens. What can I do so that the image section is a real 28mm and not so zoomed in? I really want to have the “real” 28mm look on the camera. Should I buy a 20mm lens so that it looks like a real 28mm thanks to the crop / FF to S35 conversion? Unfortunately I don't understand.

The adaptall 2 system was a great idea. I still use an SP90mm f2.5 manual lens with macro and it has impressive sharpness and color reproduction on my D700.

where can I download some GH5s raw video for testing?

I am trying to remember the original Ektar from the early nineties and if my memory serves me correctly, the roll of film was bought with pre-paid film processing. I remember the prints coming back from Kodak in a fancy Kodak Ektar box.

My favourite camera. Just rebuilt the set-up I had 35 years ago. Have the 139 with 28mm f2.8 Distagon, 50mm f1.7 Planar and 85mm f2.8 Sonnar. Really compact set and inspires me to go out and enjoy photography.

Interesting - I had wondered about the hype on that Tokina. I actually opted for the 24-70 F4 IS. I use the L EF lenses for film, and IS makes a massive difference. The speed booster you're using actually works on the crop sensor Canon bodies too, which adds a whole new dimension to using EF glass on RF crop bodies.

Still have a Super 2000 and use it regularly. For exposure I use a REFLX LAB meter mounted on the hot shoe. A mixture of 'Old World' and 'New World' which works well.

Hello, i loved your video! I was just considering buying either this camera or the mx/me super. In your opinion which one is easier to focus with? I'm attracted by the possibility of swapping the focusing screen on the mx. Lovely work and format, was really informative! Keep it up!

Since not mentioned, I'll also highlight these have nice viewfinders and really slick-sounding, relatively (for a film SLR) quiet 1/6000 shutter and motorized film advance. The relative ease of HyperManual operation with green button means you tend to lean on that system from shot to shot rather than the (by modern standards) less accessible exposure compensation. It takes a little getting used to but works well.

Love my C70. Such a beast of a camera: Versatile, light weight, capable. I can keep going! Keep it up man!

The GH5S still gets the job done in 2024 for me.

The dial around 6:35 is your focus modes single continuous for sports etc and automatic the camera decides. Just an epic camera I shot rugby league union and footy for years loved it the camera still do

I bought the dynax 9 with vc-9 grip in 98 I used it solidly until late 2003 loved it to bit but went digital with the Nikon 1dh. I kept my 9 because it was and still is stunningly beautiful and an incredibly capable camera. I’m currently shooting a roll now I’ll put the results in my channel asap. I have the canon eos 1n and Nikon F4 awesome cameras but the 9 is truely amazing. Great review cheers

This is one of my go to camera and lens combos. If you can get past the weirdness of the MZ-S, it just delivers brilliantly.

i just got one off a bit of a whim. another great film photographer /filmmaker @vuhlandes made an awesome video. i was a bit nervous bc i bought it off impulse, but your video assures me my gut instinct here was right. this really seems like the perfect camera for what i need. not to mention its stylish

I just bought this exact camera in white. It’s practically brande new no scuffs, scratches or dents. The internals are completely new. The guy, I bought it from, said he was the 2nd owner and the original never used. So I got myself a brand new camera from the 90’s. 😊

Only downside is battery drain. Even when off drains. Otherwise fabulous camera.

I had a Leica R4, it was a beautiful camera when working. Except the mirror sometimes will hang up unexpectedly and I need to remove the lens and use my finger to help it to unlock!

What do you need to do? It’s update to the K-1 mark two then you got a beast of a camera. The K-1 is a beast too but KK one Mark two is a bigger beast and then if you put the 50 mm 1.4 lens on there, you really got some weight and you better have a good tripod to hold it up

Thank you so much for this excellent video! A close friend who was quite a bit older than me and just as eccentric passed away and I ended up with a number of his possessions, including this camera. Kind of synchronistic because many years ago I bought a white 1990 Mercedes-Benz, which I still have. They kind of go together now. I especially love the fact that you referred to it as a Stormtrooper because I always loved the Imperial aesthetic of the original Star Wars. 🫡😂

So I can't connect the proxies with the main media in Resolve. Have you ever experienced this problem? I can't seem to find a work around. Thanks

I have so much legacy Pentax glass. I started picking them up when I got my new K10D years ago. Lots of Super-Takumars in my collection. When I purchased my K-5II I started got a few M lenses. Lovely lenses. But now I want to try the K1. Your review is another temptation to me!

At the end it really depends on what the subject is. I shoot nature, plants, leaves etc for identification and archiving. There I need the film to be as realistic as possible. If I shoot digital on Fuji I always set the camera to Classic Chrome.

...and now we need a fresh new SLR film body to use it on 😁 That, and on-sensor phase detect live view autofocus on the K1iii. Pentax put up a feedback survey yesterday Feb. 29th. It's quite disappointing TBH that live view on Canon DSLR bodies from almost a decade ago still dramatically outperform Pentax. I expected with the hybrid autofocus showing up in the lower end Pentax bodies the higher tier was a done deal... and then the K3iii landed w/o it. Frustrating - I feel like for a tiny bit more investment, the system could be viable for so many more photogs. Hell, I'd be happy with the KF if it had pdaf in live view stills. License the hybrid focus software code from OM Systems then sell the firmware upgrade like Panasonic does.

Gavin thank you for a lovely discussion. I totally agree, film and digital are two different mediums which the new generation do not understand. I think film makes you think more. Also, it is not more expensive because of the 36 shots, I will have at least 30 that are very good and worth framing. Digital keeps you busy fiddling on your PC and at the end, how many prints do you have with all the time spent sitting and adjusting.
