Capezio Arch Review by Encore Dancewear
zhlédnutí 1,7KPřed 4 lety
We have reviewed the Capezio Arch - this accessory is designed to support and lift arches for dancers. I decided to see if they help me as a runner (I do a Jazz class in them too!) as I struggle with foot pain along the outside of my left foot which is perhaps due to a little bit of hyper mobility in my ankles. Watch to see how I get on and whether I recommenced them (I do use them for dancing ...

UPDATE Scroll down to read how I'm getting on with them two months in. Here's my review of the Bloch S0313L/S0313M Jason Samuels Smith tap shoe. This shoe starts in Ladies sizes at a Bloch size 4 (UK size 1) and goes as large as a Bloch size 12 (UK size 9). It's also available in Men's sizes and starts at a size 6 and goes to a 13 (Mens sizes seemingly fit the same as UK Sizes). The shoe is a l...

Question. Do the rubber extra sole to stitch on the sole have ONLY a grip utility or do they are also used for balancing the foot on the floor providing a flat surface to the shoes? I am asking this question because I have just purchased a used pair of tap shoes without this part but I don't feel balanced on them. I am wondering what is the best choice whether get used to it or make an extra sole to add. So finally my question would be more: does a classic traditional tap shoe have a flat sole or a protruding tap without this rubber suppor? Thanks and sorry for the long question.
Interesting - I often don’t apply the rubber. Many come with the rubber attached but again, I often remove it. I’ve not noticed a difference with my balance.
I have not tried the RC shoes yet, but I have both the older Grishko 2007 and Russian Pointe Almaz pointe shoes right now and switch back and forth with them. I wear a size 5 with 5x width in the 2007 and a 37.5 with 5x width in the Almaz. Both are a medium shank. By far for me, Almaz has a much stronger shank and will last me a very long time. 2007 has a softer thinner shank that dies for me in a month of wear (I tried Novas some years ago and they died in one week). I am an older adult who practices on pointe no more than 1.5 hours a week at most. I have diamond shaped feet with Egyptian tapered toes and very wide metatarsal that narrows to heal. I have high arches and somewhat bendy feet. I tend to roll over the box in the 2007s but Almaz holds me back. This can be a good or bad thing depending on what I am trying to accomplish. I feel like I can do more in the 2007s as they feel more flexible and less tight/stiff, but they lose support faster for me since the shank seems to die sooner. They are also more comfortable through the box/metatarsal area for me than the Almaz, but the Almaz requires very little padding for me as it hugs my foot so well, has a lower profile, and holds up my feet better without rolling over the box. I like the higher wings on the 2007, but I like the higher heel on the Almaz. I was advised now that Almaz was discontinued to try RC 20. I may do that in my future, but for now I am awaiting a pair of RP Bravas that I found on Ebay in my exact specifications. I remember trying them on at a fitter a few years ago and liking them too but had chosen the Almaz at that time. I know they are a higher profile than Almaz but they might be more roomy in the metatarsal area yet still have a strong enough shank for me (also realizing they are discontinued too so I will not get attached to them lol).
I wear nikolay 3007 proflex and I can’t wait to try on the rc20
Add lace locks or "runners loops" (extra lace holes) at the top/sides, and these will tighten the sloppy heels. Works great!
Thank you for offering this information
I just recently got these tap shoes and I love them! I loosened the screws on the taps and love that sound better.
Can you do a year update
Thank you this was heblpful as I had them on backwards.. I have tear in my plantar fascia and posterior tendon dysfunction.
I’d be interested to know how you get on with them? I must admit - whilst running I could feel them so I stopped wearing them. I still have a really sore side of foot 🤷♀️. It’s seems to help with dropped arches though in dance.
@Loueeze Dekker my arch is collapsing and I have a tear and the posterior dysfunction which is painful from the arch to inner ankle. To be honest I have had these for a year. I only wore them a few times then forgot about them. Perhaps they were uncomfortable. I ran into this video and decided I am going to give them another try. I really need the support in the arch it’s right there from the bottom of the arch to the ankle that hurts the most. I will update after a week or 2.
@@moondrop3013 Looking forward to your updates :)
i like the feel of the proflex, but it felt too snug so i removed it and resewed it as a one elastic shoe. ironically though in bloch, for the Aride im a 5.5C, but for the ProFlex im a 6.5C. is that normal?
Yes 👍 the pro flex comes up really small - the stretch but in the arch of the foot is super tights. However, it’s will loosen over time.
sexi super footjob balet slipper
Thanks for the reviews! Do the metal nose parts hold up in the wash? Do they lose their "hold"? I'm trying to decide between the A004 and the original low-tech version.
Hello - they seem to go if you Keep playing with it. They’re designed to be placed once and left alone really. I’ve had some for over a year where the nose bit is still brilliant but I have others where the middle is broken. My favourite thing with these masks is the lanyard for my neck :)
Thanks for the tip
Thanks for posting! Do you think you have seen any improvement on the arch itself? Or is it just to give support by pushing the arch up and holding it?
I saw most support in holding my arch in a stable position whilst exercising. I have a good arch itself - just hyper extension in my ankles.
Where do you get these shoes? I am in Canada and I'm very interested in knowing more about these shoes. I would love more info from you if you have it.
Hello April :) I would contact your local dance retail store and see what they c advise you. Alternatively you can go to the Grishko or RC webpages and they will be able to let you know where your closest retailer is. Grishko may have been rebranded as Nikolay in North America.
@@encore2155 I don't have a retailer here they are closing due to pandemic. I have contacted one of the sites. I just thought perhaps you could help. Are you a fitter??
I am a fitter. I will PM you.
Enjoyed the video the slippers look great on your feet
I have a pair in white and they very comfortable and have a great sound
Ooohh I love them in white.
Slippers look perfect on your feet
Do you know the difference between the men and women shoes or is it just how they look?
The mens shoes are a wider fit
Thanks so much for posting this - it was super helpful! I'm at drama school and I find working barefoot in movement classes difficult because of pain from my flat feet. Hoping this could be a solution for me 😊
If you do get some I’d be grateful to hear your feedback :)
Do these bloch masks really keep us safe from COVID-19? I want to buy one but I am not sure if it's effective
The masks reduce the spread of the small water droplets which are expelled through breathing, speech etc.

Hi from a New Zealand ! Thank you very much for explaining how to wear and adjust these masks they all look great I live in Aucland NZ and a friend from California has just sent me several masks (white and skin color) I just washed them and can’t wait to start wearing mine! Take care and stay safe !
Thank you for for letting me know the video was useful :) <3

Yes! It’s a wombat! Haha. I couldn’t think what it was on camera - the pressure! 😂
@@encore2155 The original masks are perfect fit A005 - the patterns look fun, colourful and entertaining! Thanks for the review on these new varieties 😃
Love the original masks! I also have the same problem though, that I am in-between sizes. The kids one does fit me, but like you said its a bit short. You said below that the new version seems to be a bit larger, so would you recommend the kids size for someone with a face shape like yours or is the adult one fitting you ok? I would love to have the lanyard with it.
Hello Lovely :D I have the zebra adult one and the fit is perfect for me :) Tucks under that chin nicely.
@@encore2155 thanks!
@@encore2155 I wasn't aware until I watched your video that they had some now with the lanyards. I just found a dance store in the USA that has the new ones in all the colors and designs so I ordered some, so thanks for the videos.
@@elnoralouisa1 thank you!! It's lovely that people actually find them useful as I feel like a 'right 'nana (as in banana)' doing them! haha.
Hello and thank you for your lovely review. Would you recommend the original mask or the one with the wire?! The new one just looks really big in size. Cheers! 😊
Hello! They are both a similar size and I love both just as much. But I think your right and the original is slightly smaller so if you’ve a dainty face the A001 might fit better.
Loueeze Dekker Ahh fabulous! I ordered one of each and got the 10% off their USA website and which ever one fits better I’ll just order some more. Thank you again so very much. 😊 Well done on your detailed videos.
Thank You x
I got the masks and I absolutely love them both. Will now order some more. Thank you so very much. I wouldn’t have purchased them if it wasn’t for your videos. 😘
Thank you 😊
Do you know if they are certified by any international or national organization? I really like them and wear them everywhere but I'm always afraid they might not be safe :(
Do you have an email address? I can send you the technical specifications x
@@encore2155 yeah thank you ana.maria.kitty@gmail.com
Thank you for my masks Louise. Loving the softness and great fit of them. The adjustable elastic cords are a brilliant design making the whole mask comfortable to wear and does not steam up my glasses! The navy, as you said, is a very nice colour. (I’ve bought other makes but none are as wearable as these)
They Don't steam up your glasses! Hurrah! Thanks for the feedback :D
Encore no filter ?
So the seam is on the outside🤔
You’re correct - there’s no filter.
Yes seam is on the outside :)
I want a pair of these so bad. I wear a women street size 11 so I ordered these in the size 12 in the US they are still too short but they only go to a size 12 what size do you think I could buy in the same style only in men's so they would not be too tight any idea?
Arts by Sharamay Ritter I think getting the equivalent size in men’s is a good idea. I think the sides of the shoe come up a little higher and the box is shorter at the front. From others who have bought their size in a men’s pair, they have have gone down a size an a half so you could possibly need a 11 or a 11.5? Were they short by a lot or nearly ok?
@@lanisbet short to much so probably 11.5 in mens tnk u I can exchange
@@GrammyTapDancing How did you get on?
@@lanisbet I haven't ordered mens yet now I want a pair of Gregory Hines black and white they have great sound I'm waiting till I go to NYC to figure out tnks

What is best to make a board out of to tap at home any suggestions?
Arts by Sharamay Ritter hello! I’ve seen these pads www.tapdancingpracticepads.com I’m not sure how good they are or whether cost effective as I’ve not been able to try one out yet. Whatever board you get ensure it is non slip.
i have made a reasonable and cheap board out of 12mm premium ply and rubber gym mat stuck to the underside (or if you're on thick carpet, you may not need the rubber). All up was under $30 AU.

These shoes tend to be a bit slippery on the back of the heel (they slip off a bit and wasn't gripping on my heel) but heel grips solved the problem
Exactly the same problem as me. Heel grips have stopped that and super tight laces!
Love this! Thanks
