This alligator put me through the ringer. I went to this pond at least 5 times and spent countless hours trying to catch this alligator in this crazy Florida summer heat and humidity, I even hooked him twice and he broke me off both times. On the last day, right as I was about to leave he popped up and gave me an opportunity to cast on him. This time he didn't break me off and I was able to catch him, get him to the truck for a measurement and in the tube for transport. He measured at 7'7" and was a difficult but fun catch. Thank you!!! It is delicious. It is kind of like a mixture of chicken and pork. Very tender and when it’s slow cooked like this it just falls off the bone. The big thing with eating alligator, especially if it’s not cooked like this, is to make sure you do not eat any fat.

I like the way you did the prep and cooking . I do almost the same except I use different seasonings , one that goes well with seafood is lemon pepper seasoning . And I season the bacon also . Keep up the good catch and cook please .

What do u do with the Alligators
It all depends on if they are under 4’ they are relocated, if they are over 4’ some go to farms but most are euthanized and processed for food and the hides are used for leather products. They are nuisance alligators and most are very dangerous to be around people or pets. Most of the time this happens from people feeding them, they lose their fear of people and look to people as a food source, resulting in bites, injuries and even deaths.
But it’s really stupid that they’re just standing there and not doing anything and the parents are all just watching
