2015 Volvo D13: Overhead Valve Adjustment
While engine was on idle, I noticed ticking sound close to 5th cylinder and thought it probably was a good time to do valve adjustment since my truck has 630K miles on her.
You can find your engine specification on top of valve cover on what's the required clearance for your engine.
Tools Used:
1) Flywheel Barring Tool - amzn.to/3G1wYus
2) Feeler Gauge Set (We had 2 since you will need to have on both sides of exhaust and engine brake clearance checked at the same time) - amzn.to/3G1oWBz
3) Torque Wrench 3/8-Inch Drive (10-80 ft.-lb.) - amzn.to/49G5yaT
4) Torx Bit Set - amzn.to/46hGjsK
5) 1/2 Inch Drive Wrench Drive (We had long 250 lbs torque wrench but this should do the job to rotate the cylinders) - amzn.to/40DFGIG
Video Production:
1) iPhone 15 Pro - amzn.to/47fEQo7
2) External SSD - amzn.to/3G5GpZy

What kind of special screwdriver was that?
What year make and model is this truck please? Thanks for sharing!
That top piece is actually a filter that you should’ve changed also, for the first part you replaced
Salom aka matordi aylatiradigan bindekiska oxshagan peredelkami zavadiskoymi nomi nimadeyiladi
Whats the name of that little part that has yellow that switch ?
Last please exhaust and engine brake
Been trying to put that one on for 2 days I’m starting to think I got the wrong belt or the new pillow and tensioner aren’t correct they are aftermarket lol
Do you happen to have the part # on turning tool
You need to do valve adjustments I would say every 120 or 140 thousand miles, if you wanna turn the crack over it n the d13 engine while you stand at the top, take a 15/16 socket and racket and put it on the altinator pully nut and pull up as if you were loosing and it will spin the cam where you can see it to for valve adjustments
And I would use dog bones for the torque wrench not sockets you wanna hold the adjustment screw still cause the jam nut will pull the screw up by 1000 of an inch and adjustment will be off buddy
Great video
How often do we need to do the overhead adjustment
Just wondering if your valve adjustment fixed your issue.
Yes it did, there is no more knocking sound by 5th cylinder
Great video. Learned alot. Thank you. You should do more.
Thank you
This is a cool video, love the high definition!
So in order to replace the serpentine belt you have to remove the fan belt first??
He didn’t remove he bottom rubber washser
Sorry I didn't like your video, camera is too shaky, and not impressed with your job
thanks for sharing

All I learnt that the coolant reservoir is on the top & nice weather 😅
Привет какой парт номер@?
Dude, I was looking for pointers, but finally moved on. 30 minutes for a job you could condense to 5 minutes. Want more views, just get to the point.
Dude, there are other videos YOU can go to for the same topic. It's not that serious!
Do you have the Volvo Belt number for the Alternator ?
Can’t see a thing that you have done just heard you talking lol
Don’t put silicon, or any silicone for that matter. Buy yourself some PTFE Thread Sealer Paste. I got a Permatex brand bottle, easier to apply than the tape version. God bless!
Awesome, I think silicon came with the parts I bought, it’s been a while since I replaced the part and have no clue 😂 need to watch the video one more time for refresher
Great job buddy!
whats the part number for that regulater ?
I am not so sure, I went to Volvo dealership and they found it using vin number
Man please how did u pop out the 7th injector line?
Hey Majik, if you watch from 25:21, I removed all the connection and last one left was 7th injector line, I had to wiggle it and put some muscle power until it got detached 😅 it was the hardest part in this whole process
Where did you happen to get your AHI module?
Hello, i just bought same part as yours. So the Did you end up removing the white plastic plug underneath the module?
I am sure that there was no plug underneath of a module, 2 bolts were holding the module into a frame, and rest of plugs and airline was on top of the module which I had to remove all of them
Soooooooo, how’s it running??
It’s working alright I think, had regen on couple of times after replacing parts
Бек салам! Печка на Volvo дует холодный воздух не сталкивался ? Походу это у них хроническая болезнь у всех.

The way you record it prevents ppl yo see what you are doing… I was looking how to put the alternator belt on and still can’t see how you did it
Totally agree, I am trying to find better spot for GoPro on my hat and so far latest video worked little bit better, for sure still there are a lot of space for improvement, thank you for your comment 🙌
Great job thanks for sharing! now I'm gonna replace airfilter of my truck too 😁
good good
I am having removing the filter. Do I need to relieve fuel pressure somehow?
I am not so sure what you meant. If you are talking about water separator than you need to empty the reservoir using the crank as I did in a video. For the second fuel filter once you start removing the filter it will come out with fuel that was inside the filter. I think it’s same concept as changing oil filters and can’t drain the fuel while it’s intact. I hope this will help. Thank you for your question 🤜🤛
@@beksexp3716 thanks for the reply! I meant to say "i am having trouble removing the filter". The fuel water seperator was no problem, but the secondary fuel fiter is stuck on like a monster, which is strange because I replaced it no problem during my last oil change. I was just curious if you thought fuel pressure in the system was holding it on, and I should let it sit or somehow relieve fuel pressure before trying to change it. Or if I just needed a bigger filter wrench and more leverage.
@@leroybrown9874 haha I would not guess that, sorry for late response got myself a new baby 😅 I am not sure about pressure but I had problem with my oil filters after getting oil change by 3rd party where filters are super tight and mainly it was because they usually don’t do about 30 degrees loose it up since rubber in a filter expands. I did not have that big of deal with my fuel filter but it was definitely needed tool. I got myself strap wrench for filters.
@@beksexp3716 Thanks for the input my man! We ended up getting it off with one of those metal strap wrenchs and a bit of leverage! Turns out it just needed a bit more mustard. No bleeding of pressure required. Congratulations on the new baby! Much good fortune to you and yours!
@@leroybrown9874 😆
I got 2018 vnl with d13. Is fan suppose to spin freely like that? Mine is super tight can't move it at all.
@@karp8231 I did some research and talked with some mechanics and found out that there 2 types of fans, electric driven and viscous coupling fan. Mine is viscous coupling fan, and it has mechanism that stops running the air when engine is cold but mine has that defect which keeps fan running all the time, it’s still ok to drive it in this condition but not recommended during winter freezing cold time. That will be good another diy video 😅
Bek's Experience Excellent work❤️👍👍It looks so nice 😍
thank you 😊
That was really helpful thank you so much!
