also a lot (and i mean ALOT) of bosses and enemies can barely hit you if you just stay really really close to them, like point blank

the souls you pick up give you more souls, which you can use to level up or buy stuff. also dont forget to lock on and dont forget about your shield! you can easily kill the black knight at the start by locking on and circle strafing him to get backstabs whil holding up yoour shield, make sure to let down you shield or else it wont let you backstab (hitting r1 while holding l1, does not let yoou backstab)

To deal with Havel (the guy with a big armor and a big "stick" on his shoulder): simply circulate him too, he won't be able to attack you if you're moving, and when you get behind him, backstab the big boy

yeah no, the rats are unavoidable, you have to bait them and 1 v 1 and its not fun each time....

Pro tip: sometimes its better to NOT use the lock on cam. In many cases especially with bosses, unlocking can actually mess up an npcs aiming. They target the front of the player, so if you turn around as they swing, you can easily get behind them no hastle. The camera WILL KILL YOU in souls games stricky because of this.

Funny enough I’m playing my first through DS1 as well! Tho, I did play Blodborne and Sekiro years before so I have experience, but have fun man! Also here are some things to know: that attack you did where it locked you in an animation and stabbed the hollowed, that it called a back stab. When you are behind and enemy and close enough, press your light attack (R1 or RB) and it’ll trigger, dealing massive dmg. Most enemies in the game are slow so you can circle around them and (granting no massive size difference) and backstab mid fight. Estus is your healing potions. You have 5 standard and gain an extra 5 for each bonfire you kindle in an area by sacrificing a humanity point, but only with that specific bonfire (it’s not explained in game but wiki can help) and you can only do that while in human form and not hollowed, so in some cases you need to sacrifice two humanity. Camera sensitivity can be turned up or down per preference but I prefer to free aim without the lock on (R3) so I jacked my sensitivity up all the way. Also peek around corners you are unsure about with your camera Hope you enjoy this game like many others have and don’t go hollow! (And praise the sun ofc)
