while I do think it's sad that academia and corporations measure intelligence by one's ability to memorize and recite information, it is the state of the world we live in, and thus, unfortunately I agree that using this strategy, as opposed to employing critical thinking towards problem solving, is very sound advice.

It's not good teaching to say "this is easy" initially, especially if it's a Medium. It's not easy, that's why we are here. We spent an hour trying to figure it out ourselves and we couldn't. You might mean "this is easy once you grok my explanation" which is fair enough, and you explain well.... but say that explicitly, otherwise you just come off as mildly pompus. Reply

Self taught data engineer with a little bit over a year of experience here. All he said in the video is true. I'd like to add that one of the challenges I personally have is about not thinking I'm good enough because I don't have a degree or worrying about how other people perceive me as a self-taught. Impostor syndrome is very real, once you get around your job for a while and people recognize your work it gets better but that's something to keep in mind when beginning a new job.

Just a suggestion to all the new coders watching this video. In the given video, nick explains about the structure of using a TreeMap to strore the values in order as TreeMap uses red black trees to store key and value pairs. If you do everything by this approach it will be current but the runtime and the space consumed will be tremendous amount. For a simpler solution, think of it as using a simple hashmap and sorting the array. For the first time seeing the array, as word consecutive is there, sorting has to be done. Seeing the constrainst, counting in an array is practically and in terms of space pretty immoral. Hence a hashmap must be used. Programming logic is pretty much the same as Nick discussed. Happy coding folks!! :))
