    Dude, if your record is warped it is not in VG+ condition. If a record is warped like that,, it is either a freebie or a 1 dollar bin record that most people who are serious about record collecting would use for display in a frame on the wall. Also, If it is noisy to the point that it distracts from the listening pleasure (and cleaning it doesn't remedy it) and in addition it is warped, you were sold a record in poor condition, not NM, not even VG. I sell records all the time and that one would have gone in the trash bin if I were evaluating it.

    • @bfpsa64
      @bfpsa64 Před 2 měsíci

      Hi, thanks for writing in. I did send it back but if you read the guide lines that Discogs has setup, a record with a slight warp, that does affect play is VG+. I didn't make the guide lines up, I was just stating what they are. I am like you, I don't sell warped records at all. Thanks again and I really appreciate everyone's point of view and to hear from you all. Very Good Plus (VG+) Vinyl Generally worth 50% of the Near Mint value. A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Defects should be more of a cosmetic nature, not affecting the actual playback as a whole. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. Spindle marks may be present. Picture sleeves and inner sleeves will have some slight wear, slightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or cut corner. In general, if not for a couple of minor things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint.

    We had one alittle older, field was made out of Masonite. Players came in two different color plastics, you had to paint the teams you wanted. Then one manufacturer, probably Tudor sold the different teams painted and we sent away for those. Made up our rules (stop plays make adjustments [bend botton plastic "straps"] to make runners or defense turn the way we wanted), with the quarterbacks passing and running plays and kicking. Would hold the handle on the back of quarterbacks and kickers. Cut points on the little plastic "straps" on the bottom of runners to make them go faster. Got strips of felt to make new "footballs" with. All in all, we had our own NFL football league. Before video games............then came PONG!😆

Have a Model Nine G, a KR-4600, KR-8010, KR-7050, and some KA, KT and KX separates, many Sansui models also, including receivers,cassetes, AU, TU, SC, and so on. I like this series s they are easy to work on, lights are easy to change out. The only issue with the Kenwood's are those power packs. Hard to find them if they go bad. Because the lamps are incandescent they will draw decent current. Would I be wrong in thinking that having the lights not be on help lower the over saturation point of the transformer? I'm a newbie even at my old age. I guess I would be thinking less power draw for the lamps, more power for the AMPS :)

    • @bfpsa64
      @bfpsa64 Před 4 měsíci

      Hey there, thanks for watching and writing in. I don't feel the lamps draw very much from the transformers as they are only 6 volts or so if I remember correctly. Great video, my dad gave me the one he brought my late grandpa directly from country of origin, which I know is common. It's in near mint condition as it was used in a conditioned basement without a lot of sunlight on it. My dad borrowed it back for a moment to hear it again but I now have it again. I know the caps are all very old and should likely be replaced, and my Dad said the unit worked just fine but I know for a fact he likely ignored and crackling while moving knobs while stating his everything is fine opinion. I have not plugged it in, I plan on waiting for the right room to have an use for it. But that being said... I can't wait to hear it and clean the pots, recap. and hear it again. Of course I'll be careful and turn it on using a variac and dim bulb set but it might just have a place in my stereo room as an LP preamp (maybe even modify that section to be better) and my grandpa's amp can live on.

      Hi, I just weighed mine and it weighs 1.2 grams. Have you searched eBay for parts yet? I usually put reminders on them so I get emails when someone post something for sale I am looking for. Good luck on the search.

    I started collecting Pioneer receiver amps around 12 years ago and I am so glad I did because the prices are now quite astronomical. I am very proud to say that I own several of the higher end models including some middle and lower end editions, but the ones I am particularly fond of are my two SX-750's, both mint faceplates, one SX-780, also mint and purchased from the original owner with original purchase papers, an SX-1050, again, minty all round, my personal favourite, an SX-1250 which has a 99% blemish free faceplate and lastly my SX-1280. I even have an absolutely mint SX-1000TW in the wooden case. Supremely beautiful unit in original unmolested condition. There's also an SA-7100 in there too which I refurbished around 10 years ago. I love these timeless vintage units and I don't think I could part with any of them to be honest. The 70's was the Golden Age of HIFI.

    Just got one also but can’t get it to play how do you use the selector or dose it have to be full of records in order to make it work

      Hey there, There can be so many issues so hard to really know. Did you get a manual with this jukebox? You will need that for sure. You don't need any records in there to make it work. Does the mech scan at all? I'll try my best to help you out.

    Forgot to ask, can you recommend a decent stylus for the 6100? Not sure when to replace this.

    • @bfpsa64
      @bfpsa64 Před 7 měsíci

      Thank you watching and writing in. It's so hard to recommend a certain stylus or even certain pieces of gear. Everyone has different hearing so, what I might like someone might not. The Shure cartridge this is running sounds great to me. I have also experimented with Ortofon cartridges and I really enjoy those. Do you still have the Shure cartridge on yours?

    • @steven_cross
      @steven_cross Před 7 měsíci

      The cartridge says Excel ES-70S on and no idea what sort of stylus is in there. If I look up close it looks elliptical rather than spherical. I can see a little “spike” on it where it meets the vinyl. Been reading about headshells, cartridges and styli but worried I will get one that doesn’t fit. 😂

      Was considering this one that comes bundled up Audio-Technica AT-XP3/H Cartridge Mounted with AT-HS6BK Headshell Blue

      @@steven_cross Hey there, here is a link that talks about the Excel cartridges, and yes, the S on the end is for Spherical. This is a good read about your cartridge and I hope it helps you out. Write again if you need any more help or info. Enjoy the hobby. www.vinylengine.com/turntable_forum/viewtopic.php?t=98760

      That is one of the very things I have been reading. 😅 I think Excel cartridges are hard to come by these days. Just not too sure what to replace it with. If my current one is spherical I’m wondering if elliptical would sound better (particularly at higher sort of treble like resonances).

    Great video. Thank you. I have a 6100 and currently working great. I’m a newbie and curious how to maintain when things start to need being replaced so your videos really help. It sounds fine but notice just sometimes the sound has a slightly high treble quality to it at certain points in a song. It’s tricky to describe but 99% of the time I am happy with the sound.
