I'm sure your graphics card has died by now. I had the top of the line 17 inch 2011 but I had to get rid of it even though it was working fine, since I didn't want to deal with the GPU, now I have 2 2009 macbook pro one early and the other is mid, I have them decked out, now my capacitor is failing on one of them and I need to replace both of them before I can use them fully.

I think you may have SAVED my old 2012 MacBook Pro laptop that was dead to the world. Got the folder with ? in it and a circle with line through it when attempting to recover (Command R).
