Removing push-pin rivets (trim clips?) without special tools.
Probably better ways to do this without a special tool but it's what I had on hand. Small flat-head screwdriver and a thin wrench.

(Silo falls at around 0:50. Two silos in our backyard being taken down in 2010. First one took a long time, trying to figure out how to do it. I went in the house for 10 seconds and missed it. The second one went much quicker. Here is the action. Chatpers 0:00 - Getting Started 0:40 - Ten seconds until it falls 0:50 - It finally falls!!! 0:60 - Dust settles

Auto body shop owner, buy a tack puller from the hardware store. It has a screwdriver handle and a sharp V shape with an angle at the business end. Indispensable I've used this tool since those retainers first came on the market.

I use a painter tool. The one with a bottle opener (go figure) on one end and the paint can opener on the other end. I keep one in the quad all the time. Its good for the clips and the plastic "door" to check the oil.

Your wrench is from an "ignition wrench set". I have a set that is very similar that came with my Dad's boat he bought in '62. If you put a partial bevel on the open end of the wrench (it will still work as a wrench), and a slight bend you won't need the screw driver. Or you can buy the right tool for $5 at Harbor freight if you are going to be doing this a lot.

I have the opposite issue. I try to install mudflaps on my car and it was a smooth sailing until the last one of the stupid things. I killed 30 minutes and it just does not go in and it made me so angry that I had to stop, otherwise I would break the clip or the bumper LOL.

  • @timberwolfdtproductions3890

I have a 2019 Ridgeline, with 55,000 km. Went to the underside of the engine/transmission area, and had to remove plastic covers to get into the work area. I was familiar with the plastic “pins” on other vehicles so I went out and bought a set of plastic tools. Wrong… I ended up destroying 50% of the pins, because the “plunger” portion of the anchoring pin had become filled with road dirt and sand. I would have been better off, cutting them off with a side cutter and popped new pieces in (which I had to get anyway)! Come on Honda… I know you can do better.

Grind the wrench down on it's front edge so it is more wedge shaped. That will make it easier to get under the tab.
