I started this channel to document all of the things that I do around the house and garage to save money. Contractor pricing has gotten outrageous during the pandemic and you can do most things yourself with a few tools and some DIY enthusiasm.
Things you will find on this channel include: Cars, home improvements, tool reviews, things like that. Consider subscribing and follow along, hopefully you will find something in my videos that can help you out. Trust me, you can do this yourself.
There are many factors when people do projects for themselves most times people learn something new and save themselves a bunch of money, but other times things happen beyond the control of I'll do it Myself. I assume no liability for property damage or injury incurred as a result of any of the information contained in these videos. Use this information at your own risk, but have fun, learn something and save yourself your hard earned cash!

Fitmint Auto parcel shelf installation
Continuing the updating of the interior of my Skyline, my car came fitted with the optional air cleaner in the rear of the passenger compartment. It is old and the plastic shrunk and rattled because it no longer fit properly.
I found that a replacement piece was being made so I purchased a new parcel shelf from Fitmint auto based in Australia (fitmint.com.au/) parts arrived in roughly a week and came with a great set of instructions.
This video covers the install of Fitmint Auto's rear parcel shelf including how to reuse some of the pieces from your original.

Replace an old downspout | Protect your foundation and mulch beds

First time for me attempting to do work on my downspouts, if yours need repairing save some money and do this yourself. It was annoying to have to rake it and it always worried me having that much water pool so close to the foundation. I found a solution...
Installing a Nismo rear trunk brace - R32 Skyline GTR

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information out there about this particular rear brace. If you have an R32 you know it needs all the stiffening it can get. Fixed a broken invisible fence | no special tools needed

Hi did you end up puttimg these in your car? Interested to see dyno result amd hoe you like them!

I went to lexus dealership here in NY and they're charging $250 for each side. Thanks for the video. My car has now 90k miles on it should i change the transmission oil???
Be careful using these - if the head of the screw of the puller is off any it can cause your bolt to mushroom which means you can't get the nut on or off which makes for a real risky drive to the mechanic with your tail between your legs. Working on a 2015 Nissan Altima and this was a miss not a hit as far as tools go. (EDIT) - Turns out Auto Zone had a "Ball Joint Separator 7/8" by OEM Tools" as a loaner. You pay them $35, you use it, you return it, you get the $35 back on the card you used. Easy as all hell threw a 15/16" socket on top to turn it popped off like a champagne cork.

Great vid. am searching for this type of vid for the R33 GTR VSPEC, but very much enjoyed this one.
Hey Platoon! Just kicking off my project. Your videos have been great. Quick question, when you build out the rough frame for the doors, do you restart the 16” on center or is it simply carried through the framing without having an impact as if it wasn’t there?
Thanks for watching, you'll save yourself a ton doing it DIY. walls with a door are 16" OC all the way through that way you don't have any issues hanging drywall later
@@PlatoonGarage Yeah. I have all the tools already from previous renovations but haven’t taken anything this expansive on. Got ya, yes I’ll carry the 16 through then via the cripples etc. thanks!
Dumb question: Can you rip the tile off of that mesh without damaging it? How hard is it stuck on there?
@@suntzu6122 tiles come off very easily
I didn’t understand how you measured the nevel post, and how you did the cut exactly. Btw it’s a good video. Thank you very much🙏
It's kind of hard to explain in words only. The measurement is to get the proper rail height. So you need to make the measurements based off of where you want your handrail. If you are not going to notch the bottom, you can fit it right up to where the stairs are going to be and make your measurements that way. If you notch like I did. You have to take into account the fact that you're moving the Newell post closer and it changes the calculation
@@PlatoonGarage thank you very much 🙏it was helpful.
Many thanks for this video. Not being a recessed lighting expert, the thing that you skipped is how to disconnect and reconnect the actual light. Any hints on that without having to go up into the attic?
It all depends on the type of recessed light you have. In my case I can disconnect the light and pull it down from below. If you have the older style recessed cans that are metal lined, they are permanently fixed unless torn out. Take a look at what version you have and see what you can do from there
@@PlatoonGarage Thanks. They were just installed last week ... they are the newer style with the clips. But they do connect to a box in the attic. I'm guessing I'll need to either let it hang (if I get enough clearance to work) or I'll need to disconnect the wires and remove it temporarily. I just need to figure out how to disconnect the wires and keep track of which wire goes where.
@@larryedelstein6082 if they are like mine, the wires have a quick disconnect that makes ist simple to remove
If you are in the state of California, Florida, and Texas. And you have at least one gas Appliance. You are required to have carbon monoxide detectors as well. This law is only in California, Florida, and Texas. But it is highly recommended that everybody gets carbon monoxide detectors regardless. If they haveat least one gas Appliance. And they do make smoke detectors with carbon monoxide detectors built in. My recommendation is buy enough smoke/carbon monoxide combination detectors for your whole entire house. Carbon monoxide is a odorless deadly gas that can kill you. And carbon monoxide detector should be taking it to consideration due to the carbon monoxide gases are odorless.
What does this have anything to do with a GTR though? I follow because of GTR content.
Look at my channel, most of my videos aren't GTR related. I make videos of things that I do around my house and garage, some happen to be about my GTR and some don't 🤷♂️
I have a 2019 GX and I’m going to be doing all my fluid changes myself when you jacked up the rear did you do it from the differential the rear differential? Is it strong enough to be jacked up from that point if that is the case?
