Dr. Minati Mishra on Guru Deba Prasad Das at IOF, 2001 at IHC, New Delhi by Bansi Bilash.
International Odissi Festival was conceptualised as a tribute to the legendary Guru Shri Deba Prasad Das by Bansi Bilash, Bhubaneswar. The first of its kind inviting both national and international dancers in Odissi dance, it was an attempt to document the nuances of all different Gurukuls in Odissi with lecture demonstrations in the mornings and performances in the evenings. A treasure trove, these recordings would bring an art enthusiast closer to the authentic dance traditions in Odissi.
Dr. Minati Mishra, born in 1929 in Cuttack, Odisha, was a distinguished classical dancer renowned for her mastery of Odissi. She began her training in dance at a young age and later became a celebrated performer and a respected guru in the field of Indian classical dance. She served as the principal of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, furthering her impact on the arts. Her contributions to the arts earned her numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Dr. Mishra's legacy continues to inspire many in the world of classical dance.
