    Rezum îs extremely painful. It is temporary and palliative. Your life will be living hell for 30 days afterward. I have a high pain threshold but this procedure was brutal. No improvement. Now 2 years later I am looking at Holep to correct what I should have done 2 years ago. Know you are going to have steam injected into your prostate while fully awake. The pain was excruciating.

    I had the operation just over 2 months ago. I, as yet, see no improvement, indeed on some issues worse. And here's the thing for me, listening to this doctor talking of an increase of about 3% each year. If this is the case - and I have no reason to doubt him, it leaves me a little confused. Because I am now 72 and have been having this problem for decades. On seeing a surgeon about 10 months ago to decide what I should do, he tested my prostate and said (along the lines) 'Well, it is large but not extremely so but we'll do it'. So, if I have been having symptoms for decades for something that shows a 3% increase each year to finally have an operation on a 'not so large' prostate, my question is: "Is it the prostate"? I don't know, how could I. But I wonder if there is so much emphasis on the prostate that there is a failure to look at other possibilities.

    I had this done by a Urologist in Mobile, AL. The procedure did not alleviate my problem and the procedure was not as pain free as marketed. Be careful what you believe about this. Perhaps if your flow is only impeded by the urethra... For me, the issue as shown by a recent scope is where urethra and bladder meet. If you elect to do this, ensure that your Dr. perform a scope assessment of your problem. I'm kicking myself for believing all this marketing and will now have a TURP. So sorry for having gone through this and put off addressing my issues for 2 years.

    I have a large staghorn calculus in my left kidney which caused an infection about a year ago. My urologist attempted to remove it using a pcnl procedure. This was unsuccessful. The stone is in a tight secluded area which his scope could not reach. He then performed a ureteroscopy which was partially successful. He said about 75% of the stone was pulverized and removed. Now, a year later I can feel the infection coming back. I want the stone out of me. I suppose an open nephrolithotomy is the only option left, if I can find a surgeon who remembers how to perform this now outdated surgery. Your thoughts?

    Had the Rezum procedure done today at a hospital. I was put under (thank goodness). My only pain right now and soon after the procedure is a little stinging at the eye of the penis where the catheter tube exits. It gets pulled on occasionally by my pants or if the bag needs adjusted. I havent had any pain medication since the procedure. It seems I can perceive a littel uneasyness in the area of the prostate where I was needled 5 times. I have a median lobe. This uneasiness feeling is sort of a dull burning like pain but it is not bothersome. My main complaint is that even though the bag is filling with urine okay I feel like i need to pee. Even though I am constantly peeing. They gave me a pill for that also. Said it was urinary tract pain reliever that is supposed to take away the feeling of needing to pee. So far so good. My main concern will be when the catheter is taken out 3 days from now. I hope I can pee without a catheter.

    Rezum has been around a while so it should be perfected by now. The Rezum folks promote the procedure as 'most patients only experience mild discomfort.' I can honestly say it was the most discomfort I have ever experienced and it lasted 2 mins or so. No amount of numbing gel in the urethra or laughing gas can touch the pain caused when prostate tissue is cooked by a pressurized pulse of hot steam. I wouldn't recommend a Rezum procedure with laughing gas. I had 5 steam injections so we'll see how long it will last but none of the minimally invasive procedures are expected to last a long time. They provide short term relief until you are willing to accept max risk (sexual dysfunction) with a TURP etc.

And I'm still one year away from being able to get to Sloan Kettering for treatment. So because I have to pee every 45 minutes throughout the night, since my Prostate is about the size of a Musk Mellon (over 100ml), I thought I would try to find out if I could get that treatment called 'Urolift' or 'Rezum', to get immediate relief from the HELL I'm going through every night. • @kdub1666
      @kdub1666 Před 2 lety

      @@rongilbert3067 It's not ideal but you might want to try a foley catheter for interim immediate relief. The Urolift has restrictions on the size and shape of the prostate. Some docs won't do a Urolift for prostates over 75-100ml in size. If the prostate protrudes upward toward the bladder there's increased risk of the Urolift staples puncturing the bladder. The Urolift is a cherry pick non-invasive procedure.
