2 Week Camping & Gold Prospecting Trip | Goldfields WA
In this video I'll be spending 2 weeks gold prospecting in the area northwest of Meekatharra, which is approx. 760kms north of Perth.
Accompanying me is my friend Gary, the maker of the Gazza Pig cookers you will see us cooking on.
If you are interested in one of these, get in touch (my email address is rmhyde58@gmail.com) and I'll forward your details to Gary.
At our first location, where we stayed for 5 days, we didn't find any gold, even though the ground geology supported the potential for gold.
It was great to finally catch up with Hettie and Johan, after corresponding with them for several months.
I appreciate their kindness and hospitality they showed to both of us, and I look forward to catching up with them again, soon.
Making the decision to move to another location, which featured a row of 7 old mine shafts, on face value, appeared to be the right thing to do. However, the reality of only finding old bits of tin, wire, nails, bullets, etc. did cause some angst.
Being under no illusion that the area wouldn't hold some junk from the old timers who dug those mine shafts, the amount of junk that I found, seemed to indicate to me that not many prospectors have been there before me, or they would have cleaned up some of the junk I found.
However, from the evidence we saw, I'd say quite a few prospectors have swung their coils over that ground.
Finding that small 1.5gm nugget specie (it did contain a bit of ironstone at the end of the nugget), was a great find, and a welcome relief from all the 'non gold finds' that ended up in my junk tin.
The deep targets that turned out to be old tin cans....1 being an old Swan Gold beer can and the other being an old tobacco tin, were both found at a depth of 18".
In one way, this is testament to the detector and coil, to penetrate the ground to those depths...my detector is the Minelab GPX5000 and my main coil is the Nugget Finder Evolution series 17" x 13" coil, along with the smaller 12" x 8" unit.
I believe that area warrants a return visit, so I'll do some more research and a bit more homework, with a view to revisiting the area in the not-to-distant future.

How To Install A Snorkel On a Nissan Navara D40 | A Step-by-Step Guide

In today's video, I'll be installed a Safari snorkel to my Spanish built 2011 Navara D40, which is fitted with the 2.5L YD25DDTi engine. The model number for the snorkel kit is SS731HF. The main reason for installing the snorkel is to give the engine the best chance of breathing cool, fresh air, rather than breathing air through the front guard, where the air could be hotter. The kit includes a...

I'm a new subscriber, so not sure if you all do that on the channel. I'll stick around for a few more videos and see how it goes on the channel. @RustysOutbackAdventures Před 4 dny

Hey David, not a stupid question, at all. The design of the detector and coil registers a 'disturbance within the electrical field' created around the coil but can't decipher the nature of the 'disturbance'...metal, gold, brass, aluminium, etc. That's why you have to dig every target.

Hi Mark, the camper set up has taken a few tweaks to get it to where I want it, but really happy with it now. The goldfields has had a bit of rain lately, so that makes getting around, a bit tricky. I hope you find some gold on this trip.

You're right, David...the Thuyara satellite suffered a 'force majeure' (something must have crashed into it), so I've just upgraded to the Iridium GO unit. It provides voice, text, SOS and location messages, but has limited data downloads, but I have Starlink so I don't need it for data, just the ability to call and/or text someone in an emergency.

What you should carry, but don't, and everyone else seems to not carry either, is firewood. You could easily have bought enough for a five day trip from a firewood supplier. The reason why this is an issue for me, is the wood on the ground is part of the ecology/environment. It provides homes and shelter for small creatures, and when degrading it provides nutrients to plants. Collecting and burning wood is destructive. I hate seeing people with these massive bonfires that waste so much wood. Eventually, there will be a scarcity of wood with everyone collecting it. People go camping to enjoy it, but you are destroying what you came for.

In addition to that we carry a defibrillator in the truck as you never know who may need it, plus we live in our van full time so we have everything on hand. Things we carry in our pack or on our person. I carry a few things. A Silva compass. A 3lt camel back pack, knife with fire starter, a headtoarch, a power bank, solar powered, takes forever to charge, but does charge. I also carry a few of those energy squeeze packs cyclist's use. With my quad, I carry all sorts of stuff, puncture kits and ryobi plus 1 compressor. You have a really nice set up bloke. I'm totally different country to you though, darwin area.

@RustysOutbackAdventures , that was early in the dry season and and sketchy moment! Blew a fuel hose off a badly repaired injector, lost about 20lt of petrol in about 10 minutes. Usually, the grass is fire bombed, this year it is really late, which makes it frustrating. There is some good gold here, but very sparse patches. Hey Rusty, I found your video after doing a search on the internet. We are buying a ute, we want it fitted with bullbar and front and rear racks, but they wont fit a front rack to the bull bar because something to do with the airbags sensor. So I am going to get a friend to fit me one, but I wanted to ask, how do you determine what weight the racks can handle? And is there some govt regulations regarding weights that can be loaded on to racks? Cheers

    • @RustysOutbackAdventures
      @RustysOutbackAdventures Před 3 měsíci

Hey Dingo, I'm pretty sure the roof racks on the Navara are rated at 80kg, so I figured the front rack is really only 'supporting' the 80kg, rather than having to take the whole weight. I built it for what I thought would be strong enough for this role, which I'm sure it is, but haven't looked into any govt regulations that relate to such a front rack.
