Hey everyone! Thanks for watching this video :) It took a while to make, especially considering it's pretty unusual for me to actual record "real life" footage so I hope you enjoyed it!
As per usual editing was the biggest struggle by far, to be honest with you all I probably spend twice the time editing than I spent actually making the controller, which is obviously stupid but there's no way I can ever afford an editor haha, luckily I think i'm starting to get the hang of editing more so hopefully you can see that in this video, I'd love to hear your thoughts or any tips on how to make my content better so if you have any idea's let me know in the comments!
Once again a huge thank you for all the support on the channel, hopefully I'll see you all again soon!

Hello all and welcome to the official HawkesJam #1 results video! I know it had been a *ridiculously* long time coming and for that I really do apologise, there is no excuse for making everyone wait for so long and if I ever do a game jam in the future I will be sure to pre-plan my schedule ahead of time. With that said I want to give a huge congratulations to both the award winners and just to...

I Made a RETRO HORROR Game in 48 Hours…

Can I Make a HORROR GAME in 48 hours? In this video I'll be attempting to make my first ever horror game, I'll be honest I don't play many horror games as I can be a massive scaredy cat and I jump at literally anything so this was definitely out of my comfort zone to say the least! However I did come to enjoy the process and I think the final product is not too bad for a little retro style, hor...

Hey everyone and welcome to my a little video that I've been working on over the last week, I hope you enjoy and find the video both entertaining and interesting! I also hope some of you might notice the audio quality change as I recently invested in a new pop stand thanks to a generous donation, from a viewer called Chris, on my BuyMeACoffee page. Can I make a game in just 8 hours? Come along and let's find out together! I've been seeing this type of content for a while now and everytime I do I think to myself, I wonder if I could do that? So today I tried the 24 Hour Game Challenge but to keep it fair to those who actually do it one day cut my time in half plus some. I hope you guys enjoy this video! Editing it honestly probably took ju...

Good job mate grate video I love the style of the game
The pixelation effect was a bad idea. A lot of people use a pixelation filter to make a game look retro when they aren't using actual low-poly and low-texture assets, you were already doing that though, so you turned a good visual style into a grainy messy.
Cool video 👍 You should have added 3d printed caps onto the linear actuator and rotary encoder such as a wooden steering wheel from a pirate ship which would make it easier to understand its function
yeah I agree completely, I would have printed some caps if it wasnt for how long the first 3D print took! sort of ran out of time in the end which is why the case looks so boring but i did have a lot of plans for it 😭 a pirate ship steering wheel would have been very cool though I wish I had that idea! glad to hear you enjoyed the video though :)
Ocean Gate be like :
Cool vid! i wish some of my uni assignments were that interesting 😅
it was definitely one of our better assignments haha, but thanks!! :)
weird looking mic, my sister has one in her room 🤔
You're really underrated, great vid
thank you! :)
This is great! I’ve only fiddled with arduino a little bit but the way you explained it was so much clearer to me than any other source I could find. I shall use this knowledge when I need to use arduino for an assignment again!
im glad to hear it! best of luck with your next project :) it took me a while to figure it all out haha

game making?: Kind of? 6 Year old me on Roblox studio using free models and editing them?: YES!!!
yooo that assignment seems fun! i've used arduino once like 5 years ago but it was cool to make a little robot car with a face lol, i wonder what kind of stuff u could do with Unity. And lovely video as always!
And congrats for the sponsor!
it was really fun and definitely different from the usual stuff we have to do, ive never messed around with anything like it before so it was definitely tough though haha, glad you enjoyed the video too! :)
@@HawkesByte yess it's quite fun to learn stuff different from the usual, also I think it teaches you new ways to code and improves your understanding of the engine in general. I should stop procrastinating lol
HawkesByte: "This is the Arduino, which is the power house of the.." My dumb aah: "Cell?"
not the mitochondria 😭
@@HawkesBytei misread that as midichlorian. Idt either of us are fully awake 😂😂😂
it cool
thank you! :) glad you think so
oh so its Controller NOT a Controller dang....
Where did You got the shaders from (link*)
Please do another!
Hello did you delete your tutorials? They were so good ;(
I did it first try, I got really lucky. Even if my gameplay total was like 30 minutes, it was really good for a short amount of time. It really did get my heart racing even if I didn't even see the monster lol
proud of everyone well done ! Amazing video <3
You should make it multiplayer
a scary game but the player is what scares the player
You should make some effects when the sheep closely avoid the cars / trains / obstacles and create some text saying “close one”
Congrats to everyone who won and played! Amazing job everyone!

Jam was awesome and a good training for some next steps in game development. thx dude!
Hey look it’s NabNa- OH WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR SKIN
I imagine if I play this game I'm gonna say your mom is fat Into the microphone and it would be so funny if 1 of them just kill me as soon as I say that
Thanks for hosting it was fun to participate in. If my game worked for you and and you have feedback I would love to hear it since this was my first game jam!
As a fan of Potion Maker. I can see that the potion making game can be a hit.
This is the type of content I wanna see in my home. Subscribed and waiting for more!

damn im sad i missed this :(
This is Unity right?
sure is! :)
I love so much this kind of videos! How can I join to one of these events? I'd like so much to be part of a project like that!!!
this event was announced here on youtube as well as the discord :) so if you kept your eyes peeled around those im sure there will be another event in the coming months!
@@HawkesByte thank you a lot! I will join your discord then!
GG everyone.

Wdym?
Thanks for hosting the jam, it was a lot of fun and a great learning opportunity. Looking forward to the next one!
to build on the idea of taking an artifict making a loud sound, what if you had to _hold_ e for a good 5-10 seconds to collect them, and it makes the noise as you do that? it could remember your progress, so you need to lure the monsters away once or twice to actually finish up and get one
Programmer of Immunomancy here, so excited to have won the big award! Me and deadratdev do plan on updating the game in the future, and we have already designed two more bosses!
We do plan on doing that!!!
AHHHHGHHHHH
@@mimic6741 thank you for your input
cant way to see it!! :)
The Theme for this Jam was really nice, far above average theme quality.
I did not manage to hand in my game in time sadly. My idea was to make a color combination game - there are colored boxes, you are a wizard who can merge them together to create a new colored box of the mixed color. (It was also just a box pushing game.) However, if the colors didn't actually create the expected output color, you instead had to warp yourself into one of the boxes, solving a riddle contained in them to create a new color which you can then use in the riddle in the layer one above to eventually solve everything and be all scaled up again. The deepest it went was 3 levels down. At the end, you zoom out and realize that all the level goal colors combined make a rainbow. :D Problem was, there aren't actually that many colors, and all of the puzzles were rather unintuitive because I learned that while humans are great at basic color combos (green + yellow), once there are more colors and they're not just one of the 8 primary and secondary colors we get surprisingly terrible (or I wasn't able to code a color mixing system that feels intuitive, I guess that's up for debate). I tried implementing a shape system to replace the colors (two numbers combined would sum, a 3 combined with a line would make a triangle, ....), but I wasn't able to finish in time to make this. (The game looked absolutely terrible anyways, I am new to game dev.) Alright the game idea is now conserved here forever it was not all for nothing. I had fun though! Now that I think back this really was kind of a cool idea maybe I'll revisit it sometime. Goodbye, old friend, game idea... 🥹
Thanks for hosting the jam, it was so much fun ❤️ (wow, I’m on the thumbnail)
your game was seriously awesome!! i love your whole theme on your itch page too seriously cool stuff, cant wait to see what you cook up next’
will there be another jam
to be clear, Willczurek and Luciano deserve most of the credits, I had no clue what was going on, I did like, the base movement and thats about it( dash, walking, and some other small things)I was completely inexperienced in 3D, only ever doing 2D before this, great learning experience tho. Fun fact, the game was on course to being called Floppy Joe, due to there being a floppy disk attack and the guy being Joe, if you dont get the funny bit search up sloppy joe on google.
Well done everyone! It's cool to see so many unique games made with the same theme. It was fun, hopefully there will be another one :)
i forgot about it 💀
im not surprised with how long this video took! sorry about that haha
@@HawkesByte i'm gonna learn coding just so i can participate next time haha
