Is this New Spa Alaska's Best Wellness Experience?
Curious about the new Alyeska Nordic Spa at the Alyeska Resort? On my trip to Alaska in August 2022, I booked a session at the Hydrotherapy part of the Nordic Spa and put together this review video to share my honest thought about the experience.
As of publishing, the *entire* Nordic Spa is now open, including Barrel, Banya, Finnish, Signature, and Rainforest saunas as well as hot pools and cold plunge pools, and relaxation pools. I can't wait to go back and try them all!
If you're looking for other Alaksa travel advice, I have tons to help.

I wish youtube would stop recommending me this stuff. I hate living in Seward year-round so much It sucks so bad here, I wish I could move out so bad.
Hello sir, I visited your channel and saw that your channel has many problems due to which you are not getting potential traffic can I help you?
I live in Alaska and hike the butte if you want it’s really pretty hike and great experience and exercise
Really enjoyed this conversation and feel more prepared for my 4 night trip in July 2024, can't wait to get on the trails and will be ready with my "hey bear" arm waving moves. Thank you!
Breathtaking.
A lot more traffic that I expected. What time of the year were you there?
Horn head is also amazing for Donegal I live a few minutes away from it and it’s gorgeous all the time
ITS OUT TONIGHT BUT THE CLOUDS MADE IT BAD.
Everywhere last night haha!
ITS ON RN IN IRELAND ITS SO PRETTY
I live in Santa Fe. Your overview is excellent and captures most of the highlights. Thank you. It's a fantastic place to visit.
Thanks so much for watching!! I'm glad I captured the spirit of your city in a way that you agree is accurate and exciting :)
hey valerie, We are 2 guys from Belgium with some hiking experience. Now we would be heading to Alaska for the first time and specifically Wrangler St Elias national park. We would like to spend 2 weeks here, but since the park is so huge, we don't really know where to start. Any tips? Thanks in advance Rune
I would start on the WSE National Park website :)
Thank you for posting the interview. Do you know if the 1.3 mile Ketchikan waterfront boardwalk was ever completed?
I have not heard that - I don't think there is 1.3 miles of Ketchikan waterfront to turn into boardwalk...
Probably some good information here but I couldn’t watch need to get the point with the information.
Does it have sleeper cabins
Nope! There are no overnight trains.
I am sleeper cabin guy done all over australia , thailand
Well, it’s not an option in Alaska 🤷🏻♀️
I heard that some geography classes in certain other countries teach people that Aconcagua & Denali are on the same continent.
That would be wrong... they are part of the same huge collection of mountain ranges though! It's called the American Cordillera :)
That's disgusting, I wouldn't stand there, look at all those moose racks. Horrible 😢
You should be prepared to be uncomfortable a lot in Alaska where evidence of recreational fishing and hunting is everywhere... you might want to consider a different destination!
Was there earlier this month. Could not figure out how to get past the independence mine area
Get over the pronouns Valerie. That crap is so stupid and shows people's true ignorance.
We are coming to the Kenai Peninsula Sept 15-22, 2023 and are worried about things being closed for the season. We decided to come to Homer first - Sept 15-17. Do you have any advice for traveling at this time? We are planning to stay at Lands End, but open to any suggestions!
Sorry, I haven't visited at that time, but I recommend reaching out to specific businesses you have in mind and seeing if they will still be open.
Hi Valerie Are the owner of Denali hotel and cabins 15 miles south of Denali entrance. Thanks Kulin
Hi - I'm not familiar with that property... you'll want to contact them directly.
Hi Video is so much helpful l watched 2 times. And forwarded to other couple also. We are group of 4 visiting Denali in very early September do we all need pass. That $80 pass is for one Pearson or for couple or more. Me and my wife are also visiting some more national parks afterwards like Death Valley and Zion in late October. So Day 1 we are coming from Fairbanks via train what should we do on that day. We are picking up vehicle we will have that evening Day 2 l have booked transit bus. What can l do after the transit bus tour is over. Day 3 Going to Anchorage via train Please recommend how to utilize our time efficiently. Thanks Kulin
Hi, you'll need one America the Beautiful Pass per family/couple - can't be used for multiple couples/families. For other things to do, I recommend checking out the links in the description of this video as I have lots of links to help you!
I'm trying to figure out where this bridge is located. Any hints?
It's in Juneau, and if it helps, it's not technically a bridge :)
Nah, not watching with the “ hers/ them” insanity plastered on the screen….
Do you really think I care if closeminded people watch my videos? Go bother someone else or better yet, stay home where you never have to be uncomfortable because people don't live the way you want them to.
We had visit Denali Park July 2023vand it's not the time and worth the money to spend.
I'm sorry you didn't have a good time, but I disagree completely. Denali is an incredible park and telling people not to go is disappointing since you're assuming your personal experience is what everyone will have.
Ummm do NOT skip frito pies! Get red and green aka Christmas.
Hi, did you watch the video? I do recommend the Frito Pie - but I'm glad my cover image encouraged you to click and comment! Also, they don't make the Frito Pie in red and green; that's for things like enchiladas.
@@valerievalise I did watch the vid however your the picture leads to presumably avoiding frito pies and they definitely offer xmas for frito pies. That five & dime was actually on triple d tv show. Sometimes green may be low on availability so that could be the situation. You should do Red River next time your in New Mexico
5 10 Chile pies are great...cheap too....love Santa Fe.....cafe on the plaza is perfect....
Can tourists drive on this road?
Anyone CAN drive on it... but does your rental car allow you to drive on this road? You'll need to check with your rental agency to confirm.
But I like convertibles!
Where is that bridge from the beginning clip?
It's down in Seward near Tonsina Creek.
I know they drive in the video is sped up, but is there a good chance to see good amount of wildlife on this road? I’ve seen other pictures and comments elsewhere that you can but it seemed very empty. Any chance of grizzly bears around that area? What would be your top two trails on that road to stop and hike at? Thanks.
Wildlife is pretty uncommon along this route - I've never seen any, though it's of course possible. April Bowl is a great hike; that tops my list!
I’m sorry. But we lost interest when you stated the obvious (pronouns). Please don’t play those games. We are kind to everybody but pronouns are a distraction and political statement. We turned it off.
If you think it’s political, you’re missing the point. Please keep close-minded opinions like this to yourself and feel free to not use any of my resources to book your trip.
If your need for pertinent information from an amazingly informative video doesn't outweigh your bigotry...you have some bigger issues to tackle than how to get around a National Park. Good grief.
Hi. I'm coming in on a cruise for 1 day and would like to know the best way to get to Herring Cove Trailhead. I've looked at the the RIDE but it requires too much walking to get from the end of the line to the trailhead.
Hi, Katherine. You could look into a taxi, try Googling and calling them, but that's your only other option.
Whats the difference between a shuttle and transit bus? I want to plan ahead since the last half of the park is still closed. I will visit in mid September
Have you checked out the NPS site for Denali buses? www.nps.gov/dena/planyourvisit/bus-tours.htm Or this article I've written about the differences? www.valisemag.com/denali-bus-tours/ I hope those both help!
Thank you for the video. It helps me a lot in planning my trip to Alaska this September. I wonder if the Gold Cord Lake trail and Reed Lakes trail in the Hatcher Pass? Thank you.
Sorry, I don't understand your question.
@@valerievalise Sorry about the question. Are the Gold Cord Lake trail and Reed Lakes trailhead located in the Hatcher pass?
@@yoktanasansomboon9559yes they aee
I've been gone for over 20 yrs. But miss AK like all the time. I still have family that live in Seward pt and sometimes in Anchorage. My dad had little boat anchored in the habor in the 70's. We'd go there every wkend when iwas a kid. My dad knew Peter who owned the Wild Berry products store? Is that right? The original one in downtown Homer.
Nice! Thanks so much for sharing :)
Fairbanks is Beautiful czcams.com/video/K0PNgcUDk8M/video.html
Nice video! Is it possible to drive this road with a RV?
It's *possible* but it will be very slow going. Be sure to let other people pass so you don't cause traffic problems on the road.
Hello. Do the tour buses add capacity? I’m trying to book 8/30 afternoon for 3 and it’s already full.
Unfortunately not usually at this point. It’s just a matter of the number of buses allowed each day.
@@valerievalise Thanks, we booked the following day. Based on your video we'll take the free transit bus to Savage and do some hiking on 8/30. Also want to see the sled dogs.
Thank you for all the information. Looking forward to visiting Ketchikan in September. We definitely will take the amphibious vehicle as my husband drove that tour in Wisconsin Dells many years ago. Again, thanks!
Glad to help - have a great trip!!
When I come up this summer I will have my small camper in tow. If I want to drive into the park can I tow it or where would I leave it. I will probably be staying outside of park since I will not be making any reservations, my schedule may shift at last minute. I plan on doing mostly Boondocking.
Any pet friendly places in Whittier?
Good question! What kind of places are you looking for?
Are there Usb or plugs on the dome cars? Will be on it middle to late May.
Thank you very mutch for this informative video! We will be staying at Teklanika with our motorhome, is it possible to bring mountain bikes and pass the landslide with the bikes (carrying it)?
Good question, and unfortunately no - the landslide has completely removed the road, and as it's on the side of a mountain, there is no bypass. You can ride along the park road up to that point though!
Does bear spray work on moose?
No, it will just make things worse. I recommend doing some research into moose safety so you are better able to respond in an encounter.
Hello Valerie! We are coming to Alaska! You are doing a great job!!!! Now, our question: can we drive our trailer Rv to Chetna? On the way to Kennicot? We are certainly going to see this range of mountains!!! Thanks for the GREAT videos! We can’t wait to come and visit! Remi (Quebec, 🇨🇦)
Hi! You need to check with your RV rental agency to see if they allow you to drive on the McCarthy Road. If it's your own RV, it's at your own risk.
Party !! I miss walking you
Lol the music
Shut up! It’s our music
How much is rent there in the building 🏢
Music?
Very informative !!! Thank you so much. I have a question, we are visiting Denali at the end of August 2023. My question is , to the point that the buses can travel now, is there any point that one is able to see Mt. Denali on a clear day ?
Absolutely! Some of the photos on my blog are from the bus tour that only goes 43 miles and we saw Denali several times.
