How long are those radials, also does the ground go to the top of the mast or on the antenna, I’m looking to buy a Antron 99 soon , I have good ssb Galaxy radio and a 20’ telescopic mast and the mounting brackets , I only need the antenna and co-ax . I use to play around with cb’s in the 70’s , just getting back into it mainly for emergency purposes

You should have shown the antenna on the roof after installation. I wouldn't use RG8U, I use Browning LMR and my swr is 1.3 at 100ft coax. Did you put tape on the connector where the coax connects to base of antenna? Make sure all sealed up tight. It looks like your antenna was to close to the roof, you need to get the base up higher at least 8 ft above roof ridge.

Hasn't gotten a ton of use yet, but the build quality is solid and it charges fine via the Rockpals solar panel I purchased to pair with it. One thing to note is that the screen is optimized for a top down viewing angle, which makes sense, but this means it washes out at other angles - especially low angles. Not a huge deal, but perhaps a better option for the display could be used to provide wider viewing angles.

I see you posted this 10 years ago how is that Antron holding up now? I just bought one getting ready to put it up people tell me I need to seal the joints and paint it and all this stuff to make it last a long time but I'm not sure I buy that I think they're built to last a long time without that anyway how's your A99 holding up?

my friend that is the sound i get out of my gx-l3 battery op compressor wyhen i have the converter plugged in and i plug that into a scetchy extension cord. the fans dont want to kick on good and the compressor wont pump correct. i have to unplug it abnd then plug it in better , a firm connection gets better production. of course that means it is pulling more amps, so there is deffinitly wear on the motor and windings and more than normal wear on the cylinder. 37 fills huh. hmmm. well i can suggest a vever at the $324 level with auto stop and a year warranty. course that is just because vever will send rebuild parts if you ignore their attemts at bribery. i have not had any issue out of my gx-l3 it just works when it is plugged in correctly. and i think it is comming up on a year service here in june.

These things need to withstand flexing in extreme wind, and I don't think cold solder joints can survive that very well. This is a known problem with Comet antennas. Why don't they fix their reputation? Silver solder is what model airplane hobbyists us to get a much stronger bond than lead solder. It might be worth it to redo all my solder joints when I get my GP9.

Hello, I have one of these GP-9 antennas and since it came out of the box, it has had a 1.5-2.0 SWR. Is there a way to tune this antenna, or am I stuck with what I've got? I have tried to find other videos, but yours is the closest thing I can find. I now have it on the ground, so I will check for the solder joints.

I'm new to all of this so forgive me if my suggestion is foolish - but why didn't they run the antenna cable thru the interior of the fence post instead of zip tieing it all along the entire exterior length? I would think that by running it inside the pipe you would get the added benefit of protecting the cable from the elements - especially to those in the north east. If you run the antenna inside the pipe, will that cause interference with the signal? Again I'm new. Just wonderin'.
