    Biggest reason is the same reason my parents kept me out of football in the 80s back then it was more destroying your body now everyone knows it destroys your body and your brain. The risk is not worth the reward. Everyone I know that played back then has shoulder injuries, arthritis knee problems, hip issues… some family members younger than me have arthritis so bad they had to move to Florida for the humidity. They’re only 50. I grew up in Pittsburgh, where everybody played football.. I’m 55 Do whatever I want as if I was 25 but slightly longer recovery. So thankful to the parents!!

    It’s the panzification of America…. Coming from a career O-Lineman, kids are quitting all kinds of sports vs playing because that’s what we did. It’s too easy to quit these days

    • @ryverrogers
      @ryverrogers Před 3 měsíci

      As someone that played qb and some olb I would’ve quit I’d they left me on the o-line going into the higher levels. Why the hell would I give myself brain damage and put in all that effort to do a job no on appreciates for free. I can understand the kids who have college potential and size but every other kid is just wasting their time

    • @vaporwareproducts
      @vaporwareproducts Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks but I think collisions are worse for skill positions vs o-line - like a RB or Slot Receiver (not sure how you could have made it on the o line at higher levels if you had QB frame - not talking sht just saying unless you benched/squatted a ton) They are lighter weight and not as strong plus there is more momentum in their impacts because of the distance between players before collision - sure we took shots as a lineman but could fold over your average player with no problem due to our strength, weight and flat our experience in smashing... Seems like kids these days are super soft, have waaaaay more quit in them, don't hit in practice as much and get hurt (all kinds of injuries) a lot more. They aren't much/any stronger than we were (benching around 300), not any bigger either, in HS typical D lineman was 250-300 back in early 90s in TX. Usually the one that get's it dished to them is the one that gets hurt IMHO... @@ryverrogers

      @ryverrogers Před 3 měsíci

      @@vaporwareproducts I was about 5’10” 180 when I was 13 that was big enough to play oline in junior high at the time. In highschool I was around 200lbs playing qb because I could move and throw extremely well for my size as a bigger kid. If I wanted to play oline I could’ve just keep eating and lifting but I never would’ve done that because being that size I could’ve never played collegiately. I wasn’t incredibly strong but could bench 300 and squat/deadlift in the 400s as a senior. My entire point is that you’re playing the least enjoyable position on the field with no prospects of gaining anything substantial. You will be accruing brain damage and doing something that no one gives your credit for. However when you fuck up your ass is getting ridden. Nothing about that seems appealing to me and you could utilize your time better doing literally anything else as a kid.

    High school football ref in NY here. Girl’s flag is now a high school varsity sport, boys is right around the corner. It’s very hard to be good at football because you can’t get an advantage by playing travel like you can other sports. If you’re not a freak athlete and huge, playing tackle football is kind of pointless if you don’t buy into the rah rah stuff

      GOD help us - VARSITY FLAG FOOTBALL???? Please... Someone needs their azz seriously kicked for that stupid idea "we want to play football but kinda don't want to play football" what next? are they gonna make them wear helmets as well playing flag... huh? They already do??? oh Jesus, before you know it we will have boys twirling the baton at halftime.. huh? that too??? Oh no....
