HeadGames got a Centroid 5 axis CNC!!
For many years we have talked about getting a CNC. For many years we have farmed out digitizing our ports and cutting our heads. But, now we have our own. 5 axis cnc in house!
This video shows how hard it was to get in the building, and what is to come from HeadGames. Be sure to subscribe there will be lots of CNC content coming as we move all of our port designs to our Centroid

When you have a 5 or 6 second car the last thing you want is water under the tire. This is why it is common practice to weld the deck of the head, and use a dry deck block to avoid issues if the cylinder head lifts or blows a gasket causing water to go under the car at 200 mph!

hi ... i need clear the hot spot on piston ?
Id say your next purchase would be a tool setter or a tool probe on your machine table to calculate tool stickout and tool offsets.
Next level.
Much appreciated on the heads up here. Its very concerning to me that one of the kits is more than double the price of the other and was made by the manufacturer to be paired with their aftermarket cams. I went with the cheaper option B, and it makes sense that i got what i paid for, though its still a pain in the ass. Looks like ill be waiting to see if this new kit comes out any time soon instead since my head is still currently off the engine.

@@headgames Is the BMW E36 M50/M52 S50/S52 head on your list of top ends to map out?
Can you use a 3 d printer to get its data points quicker?
@@mrphiscal you would have to still scan it but then you would have to print it and then digitize the print. That would be a huge project
I know it is very early and you guys are starting with learning this machine, and its main goal is cylinder heads, but is in your future to build parts with this machine, like billet oil pans with baffles and integrated girdles, and things like that. Make the best of the best for the top of the engine which you already do, to make the very best on the bottom to avoid oil starvation and / or strengthen the bottom of the block.
I don’t see us doing anything for short blocks but certainly we are planning on doing some stuff for cylinder heads. The centroid is a great machine for porting heads but I don’t see it doing much more than that very well. Hopefully I am wrong!
Nice work Dave!

Not to be a dick and this head is probably a mess but theoretically: nothing should be square or equal from port to port much like the 8 barrels on Pro Stock carbs are all working and possibly shaped different etc. for max performance. I just feel like many are promoting a person to show ability to grind symmetrically or repeatedly from one to the next. I can teach someone to do that. There is zero symmetry in a motor that wlll make max power per cylinder once it's more than 2 or 4 cylinders(3 clyinder shouldnt symmetry etc.). I'm not a engine builder, I'm likely wrong, please educate me.
I port 2-stroke cylinders. I can ID from a glance anything I've done. I can also ID most other's work as well. When you _do_ it, you _know_ it. Anyone who digitizes a port that comes into their shop is looking to acquire that information without paying the person who earned it - that's theft.
For ej257 dual avcs, What valve springs brand/material/pressure do you recommend for a 500hp with stock cams/heads?
@@Hebert6760 GSC5076 would be your guy.
@headgames in what situation do you use a higher seat pressure and open pressure? I this video you mention 80 seat pressure and was wearing the seat out or that was just because the material?

@@mikegoebel8039 Oddly not. Lol
This is probably a dumb question but I've been thinking of fitting a 2jzge vvti intake cam in a 1jzge vvti head. Is it possible? I'm running n/a so I want to play around and see what I can do just for some gains before I purchase a 2jzge bottom end. Is it possible? What all must be done? Is it worth it?
At one time I tried a full radius valve job and that hurt power for sure. I have done a straight 60 75 angle exhaust setup to reduce reversion and that works but that's a na thing and I make a larger contact area it all depends on use and fuel
@@alexhise968 yeah radius doesn’t work. But, it does flow better sometimes on the flow bench. But, never works on the engine.
You should let people know which business did this, that way they can avoid them.
@@zacha1408 that’s a big bear I’d rather not poke.
@headgames you are the bear. Whoever had to steal your port is obviously the vermin who needs dealt with.

@@headgames thanks! I wasn’t planning on it, for some reason it reminded me of a b16 head and the end result looks more like that of a gsr. Since I cought your eye, thoughts on the gsc 6mm stem exhaust valves ? For b16/8
@@badboyracing5391 if you’re making 1000+whp that valve would be great! Any other manufacturer, it’s a custom valve. We use them in sfwd applications.
Let's say for example that I already bought unnamed spring A, do you think they would be useable if I installed them with the OEM locks and not the supplied locks?
@@myg240z yes, they were designed for the oem lock
@@myg240z but, you also need to measure coil bind if you’re using an aftermarket cam. Because some of the springs we tested would coil bind if it was more than oem. We had to use 2 sets to make 1 set.
