    Thank you for the easy instructions. I have a fairly new (6 months) battery not holding a charge on a 2001 Camry with 200k miles. I’ve never checked an alternator before so was hesitant to try by myself. Now I can! It’s the next step then on to the other possible causes of battery drain. Great video!

  • @TheGuyThatWondersWhy

    Did the vise holes line up? Or did you have to drill new ones?

    • @SkillSavvyDIY
      @SkillSavvyDIY Před 21 hodinou

      The holes are not in perfect alignment but by using smaller bolts with washers they worked without drilling.

    I work full time as a diesel mechanic and at my shop I have a scanner that cost $3,800 and hooks to a $2600 laptop. This little unit featured in the video does everything my more expensive scanner does when it comes to consumer cars and trucks. I keep one in my toolbox everyday and trust it as a professional mechanic. Great video!

      Funny that I get this comment today, because this morning I hooked it up to a 2005 F250 6.0 and monitored the pressures from the high pressure oil pump to see if it was hitting the desire pressure and it was spot on. I'm really liking this scan tool. Fantastic for the price especially. Thanks for leaving a comment!

    0.0 volts from alternator to positive terminal?

  • @cFamz1

    • @SkillSavvyDIY
      @SkillSavvyDIY Před 21 dnem

      Is it starting up and running, or is it reading 0.1 while cranking? The starter will pull down to about 9.6 volts while cranking but anything lower than that then you have a bad battery or a bad cable causing some serious voltage drop

    • @SkillSavvyDIY
      @SkillSavvyDIY Před 27 dny

      If heat has caused the connections between the copper blades and the busses to swell and loosen then you may want to change out the box with a new one. As long as the circuit is protected with the correct size wire and breaker, then you can upgrade to a higher amp non fusible disconnect. In this video I installed a 60 amp disconnect even though the wire and breaker is rated at 30 amps. Hope this makes sense.

    😮 garden hose in a house.

    • @SkillSavvyDIY
      @SkillSavvyDIY Před měsícem

      Actually that is in my garage, but I have pulled water hoses into homes many times. Either to unclog drains using a drain king, or to drain leaking water heaters, but using water pressure to clear a clog in the AC drain is the most effective way.

    • @DrainCognito
      @DrainCognito Před měsícem

      @SkillSavvyDIY Sorry, I have been actively servicing HVAC sytems for 20 years in South Florida, and I have to highly disagree in my professional capacity. Strong shop vacuum in terms of horsepower outside is the number 1 go to. The next we use is sodium hydroxide on a case by case basis. The last is pressure but not before suction. You won't normally get any leftover blobs of bio slime going towards the drain pan nipple doing any type of flush at the air handler without taking panels off.

    • @SkillSavvyDIY
      @SkillSavvyDIY Před měsícem

      @@DrainCognito Everyone has a right to their opinion. I see you sell an automated device so I understand your bias. I have used wet vacs plenty of times to unclog AC drains and they work, but in my opinion flushing works better, not just on AC drains but anything such as a car radiator, refrigerant lines after compressor burn out, plumbing, etc. I live in south Mississippi and I have been servicing HVAC systems since 1982. Figured I would throw that in since you made a point to tell me your experience.

    • @DrainCognito
      @DrainCognito Před měsícem

      @SkillSavvyDIY Not before flooding someone's home, breaking a brittle old plastic pipe in a wall, or simply not actually getting the blockage at the drain pan nipple. It's not really an opinion if these are the risks you're suggesting to people. Selling this invention is my side job. I'm also one of the owners of a 30 year old AC company.

    • @SkillSavvyDIY
      @SkillSavvyDIY Před měsícem

      @@DrainCognito LOL, if city water pressure breaks a PVC pipe in someone's home then they have much bigger issues than a clogged drain! This conversation is over but thanks for watching and I hope you do well with your invention.

  • @localenterprisebroadcastin5971

    99% of techs will sell the customer a compressor when all it really required was a new orifice tube and fresh pag oil 😂…watching the pressure gauges is the best way to tell….if you’ve got massive pressure differentials and surging head pressure on the high pressure side, it’s a an obstruction in the system (most likely the orifice tube)

    • @SkillSavvyDIY
      @SkillSavvyDIY Před měsícem

      Yes, restrictions show just the opposite as what the pressures were showing on this car in the video. A restricted orifice tube or a restricted expansion valve are the normal suspects when restricted, but not always. A very low suction pressure (often in a vacuum) along with high head pressures is most certainly a restriction but any tech worth his money will know this, and any honest tech will do the right thing by the customer, but unfortunately we live in a world full of scam artist.
