Cinema 1’s Friday the 13th Horror Movie Sale Out & About Video
Nice Haul video Brian, those are some sweet looking pickups there. While it stinks your local Cinema 1 is closing, that you were able to still get a good deal on the last ever sales day is still kind of good. Definitely give their online shop a try, and even if it doesn't work out at least you gave it a shot. Severin Films has been doing some pretty cool stuff recently, and I've been enjoying many of the Blu Rays I've picked up over the last year and a half now. There's a couple of website exclusives I plan on picking up when I make the jump to 4K in the winter. Warner Bros. is having disc rot issues? Dang, I'm gonna have to start checking all my DVDs I have of theirs now; why are the big conglomerates always the ones to have trouble? Take care buddy, hope you're well, and speak to you soon.
That is a great haul, to bad they are closing that store down. Many good titles and many good upgrades. Oh, fuck, i have the old DR Giggles dvd release, i hope it does not have disc rot. I wanna get a 4K release of Cemetery Man at some point, i really love that movie, it is worth having in better quality and i for sure would love to see all of those special features. A Night of the Demons marathon for Halloween sounds like a good idea Brian. Hellgate is actually a lot of fun in some ways, cheesy bad, it is an enjoyable time, i remember when i got it on VHS but got rid of it but then got it back because for some reasons some parts stick in ones mind, the problem was that i was expecting something like Hellraiser but got something completely different, they sold it on being made by the creators of Hellraiser and being more like that so no wonder the dissapointment, but looking back i did enjoy it for what it was and actually remember it. Halloween is just around the corner, maybe there will be more treats along the way, maybe some surprises that changes things for the better when it comes to physical and cultural matters. Take care buddy! Keep the love and passion alive!
@@Heavymetalrille I’m down to just Sunrise Records now, but their movie section is nowhere near as good as Cinema 1. I hope that your copy of Dr. Giggles is still playable. I still need to go through most of my Warner DVDs to see if they have been affected by disc rot. I probably should have looked into getting the 4K release of Cemetery Man, but I couldn’t justify the cost. Boutique titles have gotten way too expensive here in Canada. I didn’t know that Hellgate was sold as a Hellraiser knock off. I used to rent tons of horror movies back in the day, but I missed out on this title. I only discovered it last year. I have some free time this week so I’m planning on watching it soon. Sunrise Records has a decent selection of horror movies so hopefully they will have some kind of sale this Halloween season.
It always makes me sad when i see Media stores closing. Although you got a awesome haul Brian.
@@HorrificNightmaresJM The streaming services have really screwed things up for the physical media market. First we lost all the video rental stores and now we’re losing the retail stores. I still have Sunrise Records, but Cinema 1 was great at stocking the more obscure titles. I’m really going to miss visiting the store. Have a great week my friend.
Shame that they are closing. That's a fantastic haul, though. Enjoy them, buddy!
@@TheHORRORman I agree, there’s still two locations left, but the closest one is about two hours away. I may try to use their online store. I am going to try to watch a couple of the movies during the week. Take care my friend.
That Lamberto Bava flick looks like fun, too. Nice pickups!
@@MichaelMichalski I’m looking forward to checking Blastfighter out
Great cover for Hellgate!
"Store Closing Sale" was only 10%!?! Lame. That doesn't even cover the tax in Canada.
@@MichaelMichalski I agree, I think that they shipped off the remaining stock to their online store. I would like to think that they would have had a better sale if it were a true going out of business sale.
I like that edition of Turbo kid , haven't seen that one before. Such a fun movie
@@GeekLegionofDoom I have the steelbook release of Turbo Kid, but I couldn’t pass up on the comic book cover art version. I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t come across this edition again.
@@nready Id have got it if I were you too
Man, that really does sound like the Ultimate Cheese Fest there Brian. I've heard mention of this title before, and at first it felt like they were trying to go for a cash-grab by making it sound like it was two vets in Steve McQueen and Chuck Norris teaming up with a couple of newcomers, one of them being Patrick Swayze, but luckily realized it wasn't the case. Does sound like 80's style fun though. Take care, hope you're well, and speak to you soon.
@@tvnash It’s funny that you mentioned that. I read that Steve McQueen was the person that suggested to Chuck Norris that he should get into acting. It would have been interesting if they ended up making a movie together. Death Ring is worth checking out though even though it’s not a good movie in the classical sense. Thanks for commenting and have a great rest of your weekend my friend.
Some enjoyable piece of action cheese! Nice new edition. Have not seen it since the 90s on VHS.
@@Heavymetalrille I actually bought the DVD because of its cast. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I never thought that it would be a title that I would want to up to Blu Ray. Thanks for watching.
That looks like fun. Great video Brian.
@@HorrificNightmaresJM Yeah, Death Ring isn’t a good movie in the classical sense, but it’s a good “bad” movie. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for stopping by one last time 😢 If you're ever in London, Guelph, or Hamilton, we'd love to see you!
I got the new planet of the apes, not as good as the first 2 but def better than the last. Really enjoyed it, wasn’t expecting to. Great fun
@@bigboss-yv2nr I still need to watch the new film.
That store, Cinema 1 sure has a great selection, i don´t know about the prices though but there are for sure some that might be worth it. To bad that it is closing down, do they have a bigger discount on the movies or will it come as time goes by? i mean they would need to empty their stock and sell it all, well i hope they lower the prices so you can get some deals before it is all over. It was nice to see the place before it is gone.
@@Heavymetalrille Unfortunately the prices for movies are on the expensive side in Canada, especially for the boutique labels. I’m not expecting any discounts on any of the titles as they have an online store as well as two more locations so I’m assuming that they will just ship off the remaining movies once they have closed down. Thanks for watching.
Nice out and about Brian, even though it's the last one at your local area. The bittersweet end of an era, it's never easy, but at least you get one more go around. They kept the store nice and clean throughout the years at least, there were quite a few stores where I lived in Philly that weren't half this nice. RIP to your local Cinema 1. I highly recommend Orbit DVD if you're looking for a good online retailer, they ship everything in boxes and bubble wrap, excellent service all around. Take care, hope you're well, and speak to you soon.
@@tvnash I was just thinking about all of the retail movie stores that I used to frequent back in the day. I still have Sunrise Records, but their movie section isn’t as good as Cinema 1. Thanks for the heads up on Orbit DVD. I probably should look into getting an American PO Box as having movies shipped to a Canadian address can be expensive. Thanks for watching.
which locations is closing
@@Mrspoiledmilk420 The one in Windsor Ontario. The other two will be staying open
I'm from London. I enjoyed the few times I shopped at the Windsor location. It's a lot bigger.
@@spookynolan I first Cinema 1 that I ever visited was in London back in 1996.
Happy belated birthday, Brian. I watched _Abigail_ a couple of days ago and it was very enjoyable.
@@CinemaniacSeventy7 Thanks Donny, I got around to watching Abigail on Friday. I enjoyed the film as well.
Happy belated Birthday Brian nready, hope you had a fun celebration with family and friends. Some nice B Day pickups there, very nice indeed. Abigial has piqued my curiosity, but I'm still up in the air on whether to pick it up. I do definitely want to pick up those Indicator/Powerhouse releases of Jean Rollin's films, they look fantastic. Rollin is a fascinating figure. That's a shame about your local Cinema 1 closing, I felt a similar pain when Movies Unlimited closed its original store/headquarters in Philadelphia some near 20 years back. I loved that place as it was only a 20 or so minute drive from my house. Cinema 1 sounds like a fantastic place that I wish had locations here in the States, and it would be amazing to go in store and find all those goodies. Take care buddy, hope you're well, and speak to you soon.
@@tvnash Thanks for the Birthday wishes. I used to love heading over to Michigan to visit Media Play and Suncoast Motion Picture Co back in the day. Media Play went out of business sometime in 2006 I believe. Cinema 1 was the last dedicated movie store in my area. I am hoping that Indicator gets around to releasing The Grapes of Death and the Living Dead Girl at some point. I really love these digipack editions.
Happy birthday Brian! Hope you had a great birthday! Sorry to hear the bad news Brian. I will get to Abigail at one point but it is not even out on physical here yet. When Evil Lurks was great, i watched it last year with one of my brothers and both of us loved it. Have not gotten to Five Night At Freddy´s but i am looking forward to it and it is on the list. Good haul and nice additions to the collection.
@@Heavymetalrille I was devastated when I heard that my local Cinema 1 was closing. This is definitely going to have a huge impact on my movie collecting as I tend to buy more movies at the stores as opposed to online. I am really looking forward to watching Abigail, I just wish its twist was spoiled for me. I am glad that I got Where Evil Lurks when I did. I really love that film. Five Nights at Freddy’s is ok, I decided to pick it up because it was on sale. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Take care my friend. Hi
Embarrassing? Haha. Own it Brian. And yes. Movie talk!
@@GeekLegionofDoom Yeah, you’re right. I might do a video on Five Nights at Freddy’s and the knock-off movies it inspired. I would really love to get into making 4K and Blu Ray comparison videos, but I would need to buy a new computer.
@@nready I don't even have a 4k player. You should see if you can take part in a few live streams
@GeekLegionofDoom That’s good idea, I took part on one of Aaron Pynn’s live streams last summer.
Nice additions and happy belated b-day! Still need to see Abigail and will probably wait for a later price drop for it.
@@CinephileSanityTV Thanks for the Birthday wishes. I have been holding off on picking up a number of titles as well.
Some very good pick ups Brian! From Beyond on 4K that is something, a good upgrade. Thriller is a must have. Hope all is well.
I’m really excited to finally be able to check out the transfer on From Beyond. I’m interested in revisiting Thriller as well.
Great pick ups Brian.

It’s interesting looking back on this video as most of these titles have had re-releases in the last couple of years. Thanks for watching.
Same in my area!
I’m hoping that they intend on selling movies for a while. I was really bummed out when I saw that they had removed the movie stand.
I watch one video about physical media dying and now these videos won’t stop popping up 😭
I have been getting a lot of those as well.
I've been buying physical media again because I'm tired of streaming and the cost and the ads and the constant removal of titles. I have been pleasantly surprised how good DVD is. It's not as bad as I remember lol.
I still buy DVDs as well, I love collecting old Anchor Bay releases.
For some reason this makes me happy
Thank you for your kind words sir, and thanks for watching.
Long live physical media! Happy to see things turn, for now, but let´s hope it continues on. Keep on hunting and enjoying movies!
I agree, Walmart is far more my preferred place far from my preferred place for my movie collecting needs, but I have found some great deals there over the years.
They can't change physical media
@@jonwoodmass2849 They can´t censor your disc or take away your movie if you have it physically, but if it is on digital, they indeed can censor and change it and even take it away from you. So, long live physical media!
who cares, you can get this stuff online
Grow up. You're a part of the problem.
NO BODY ASKED YOU CONNIE GAAAH
Streaming is ok, but it seems like there’s at least a couple of cases of controversies with censorship every year.
@@nready Or those first pressings of media that had something pulled or banned on the further pressings.
@@BDBD16 That’s very true.
Nice to meet you 😂😂
Glad it’s back!
Me too, I missed looking out for new horror movie releases every first Tuesday of the month.
Happy to hear it.
I am as well, hopefully this isn’t a temporary thing.
I have that First of the Northstar DVD. But I don't think it works :(
Nice pick ups Brian.
Thanks J.
That Jack Of All Trades is the star of this haul.......love Cleopatra as well,I own the series as well.
I was surprised that both series made it on to DVD. Needless to say I’m very happy to have them in my collection.
@@nready I really like to come across Jack Of All Trades and Adventure,Inc in my film hunting. This video leaves me hopeful.
It's a shame that in the future we will no longer see physical copies of movies or games.😥. Im a big gamer but time changes
My local Walmart still has a decent video game section, hopefully they won’t end up removing it as well as I’m not a fan of Game Stop. My son doesn’t mind buying games digitally, but I prefer the physical release.
Long live physical media! There will still be ways even if these places fail us and stop selling physical discs. Sad times, things are changing for the worse. Still do hope you are having a great Easter Brian!
I agree, but I really miss the good old days when I had more options whenever I went movie hunting. Have a Happy Easter Monday my friend.
It sucks when we lose a place to buy physical Media. I'm sorry buddy. Physical Media Matters.
I agree, I’m down to just Cinema 1 and Sunrise Records as far as places where I can pick up movies.
That sux man
lol my Walmart has been like this for years and i have to drive another 30 minutes just to find movies there. I don't understand how they can't have all of their stores to be reliable like their website.
I really haven’t been buying a lot of movies at my local Walmart in the past year, but this really sucks. I was hoping that they were going to pick up the slack from Best Buy, but I guessed wrong.
The Power is a very good one, back in the day when i was gonna track it down i also mixed it up with some other movies but now i know for sure. Sweet Blue Velvet edition, big fan! Amityville 1992 was one i very much enjoyed back in the day when it came out on VHS, better than a lot of people thought and think. Can´t wait to give Thanksgiving a watch. Need to upgrade The Boogens myself. Many nice pick ups in this one Brian, good haul.
I’m sure that you will enjoy Thanksgiving when you get around to watching it. I am a big fan of Blue Velvet as well. I was always amused how all of the later Amityville movies had to contain a disclaimer stating that they weren’t related to the original trilogy. I’m excited to finally have The Power as I had pretty much given up on ever owning the movie. I’m interested in comparing Kino’s release ofThe Boogens to the old Olive version. It’s always great to hear from you my friend, I hope that you’re doing well.
Great pick ups Brian. The power is good. I like amityville 1992. Night of the comet is a classic.
Thanks Ja, I’m really stocked to have The Power in my collection. I was looking for it everywhere online. I was lucky to be able to get it through Facebook. I have been hearing good things about Amityville 1992, I’m planning on watching it this weekend. I agree with you on Night of the Comet, I watched it a lot back in the VHS days. Take care my friend.
Awesome update, Brian! I have The Power on VHS. Pretty cool movie. Nice Criterion of Blue Velvet. They should have included a fake ear with it. Amityville 1992 is a good one in that franchise. The Abyss seems to be getting a lot of love. Thanksgiving and Saw X are 2 of my top 3 favorite horror movies from last year. Saw IX is supposed to follow Saw X with a focus on Kramer and Hoffman allegedly.
I was surprised when I stumbled upon the DVD release of The Power as I was pretty sure that it hadn’t made it past VHS. The Criterion release of Blue Velvet is the edition in my collection. It’s probably my favourite film from David Lynch. I have been after the DVD releases of the later Amityville films for a while so I was stoked to get Amityville 1992. I may look into getting Dollhouse next. I was on the fence about picking up The Abyss, mainly because of the DNR transfer issues, but I had wanted to own the film since the VHS days. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Sax X, that was a total impulse purchase for me. Thanks for the info on the next instalment in the series. I’m really looking forward to revisiting Thanksgiving. Take care my friend.
You've got the Power!!
I was very bummed out when I realized that The Dark Power was a totally different movie so I was excited when I found it on Facebook Marketplace. lol I just got your reference.
Dope man
Thanks for watching.
Cool pickups there Brian, very nice indeed. The thumbnail threw me off a little at first, but when you showed the collector's box for the Freeway films it made perfect sense. Sometimes you need a little "so bad it's good" in the collection.
Thanks, I have a huge collection of “so bad it’s good” movies in my collection. I was debating on whether to show the Freeway movies since I had previously featured them in my last two Vin Syn haul videos, but I also wanted to display them with the slip box.
Nice haul Brian! Some good titles and releases in there. The first Freeway is still great, Kiefer brought it, i still see him in my mind sitting there sucking on his straw haha, you know the scene ;)
Freeway is one of the few films that I have owned on multiple formats. I’m looking forward to checking out the unrated cut.
Great stuff, Brian. Scared To Death is a fun creature feature. I like the box for Freeway.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Scared to Death, I was on the fence when I decided to order the movie. I was glad that there was an option to order the slip box for the Freeway movies separately as I had originally ordered both films before they had turned it into a boxset.
