CLTS in Rumbek, South Sudan: Emmanuel Mathiang constructed the latrine for his family
Emmanuel Mathiang Majok of Mabor-Kooch Village was triggered in 2022 to know the important of latrine at home with his village members.
Emmanuel lost his sights at young age but having courage of doing things for his family. He emerged as the Natural Leader after he understood it very well that the latrine brings health to the children.
Mathiang was the first to construct his latrine follow by other 45 household latrines though the whole village of 56 households didn't achieve the Open Defecation Free (ODF) status, Mathiang has changed the lives of his children as attested in his success story. In 2023, we celebrated Mathiang and his family and covered this video for record while celebrating other 24 villages that were ODF in the 3 project focused counties.

The women at Meen Mini Water Yard uses water to irrigate their vegetables that help them to feed their families and buy oxen for ploughing. The project was funded by the Government of Netherlands through UNICEF South Sudan and implemented by Centre for Emergency and Development Support (CEDS) in conjunction with the State Ministry of Housing, Land and Public Utilities-Lakes State.
